In the future, satellite communication systems, such as ISDB in Japan and DVB in Europe, are required to support higher transmission date rate for providing multimedia services including HDTV, high rate data communication etc. Considering the effectiveness of OFDM technique in efficient usage of frequency bandwidth and its robustness to the multi-path fading, several OFDM based standards have been proposed for satellite communication. However, the problem of high Peak to Average Power Ratio is one of the main obstacles for the implementation of OFDM based system. Many PAPR reduction schemes have been proposed for OFDM systems. Among these, the partial transmit sequences (PTS) is attractive as they obtain better PAPR property by modifying OFDM signals without distortion. In this paper, considering the complexity issue, we present a simplified minimum maximum (minimax) criterion and Sub-Optimal PTS algorithm to optimize the phase factor. This algorithm can be dynamically made tradeoff`f between performance and complexity on demand. In addition, we integrate guided scrambling (GS) with this method. Simulation in multiple antenna based OFDM system proves that the proposed Hybrid schemes can get much more PAPR reduction and do not require transmission of side information (SI). Thus it is helpful when implementing OFDM technique in satellite communication system.

POSTECH Graduate School of Wind Energy is trying to upgrade the PMSG used for Unison U50 to 900 kW class. Intensive optimization efforts are carried out the reduce the axial size and total weight of the generator while increasing the rated output to 900 kW. The generator features 3.32m stator inner radius, 671mm stator length, 84 pole, 25 rated rpm and 31.6kN/$m^2$ shear force density. To reduce the gross weight, the stronger magnetic material is applied with optimal magnet size resulting lowest cogging torque. Also, instead of stator skewing the stator, the magnet position along the circumference is optimized to further reduce the cogging torque. This scheme eliminates the stator skewing procedure and may enhance the productivity. This method also reduces the total harmonic distortion. In this report, upgrade method, no-load line to line voltage and phase voltage, cogging torque, loss calculations and thermal analysis are presented.
Industrial Motors diagnostic equipment is highly dependent on the automation system, so if there are defects in the automation equipment, it can only rely on the operator's intuitive judgment. To help with intuitive judgment, Park's Vactor Approach(PVA) represents the current signal as a pattern of circles, so it can tell if a fault occurs when the circle is distorted. However, the failure to judge the degree of distortion of the circle pattern is the basis of the fault, so it will face difficulties. In this paper, in order to compare the faults of PVA, the period of d-axis current of PVA pulsation was mastered, so that two phase differences occurred in the same signal source. Through experiments, it is confirmed that this is a 90 degree cross formation of PVA, which is convenient for judging from the vision that there is no fault, thus helping the operator to make intuitive judgment.

The vibration exciter with the accurate calibration requires a low distortion along a single axis over a wide range of frequency. The fabricated piezoelectric exciter was composed of a base, piezoelectric element(Venitron PZT 5A), electrode and seismic mass. Its performance characteristics is evaluated the Mach-Zehnder optical fiber interferometer. The phase of the optical wave passing through the optical fiber around the piezoelectric element was related the vibrational amplitude with a change of the applied sinusoidal voltage on the piezoelectric element. The dynamic characteristics of vibration exciter can be obtained by measuring the vibrational amplitude with a sinusoidal applied voltage on the piezoelectric element. The sensitivity of the fabricated piezoelectric exciter had a 0.4 nm/V which was uniform up to 20 kHz.
In this paper, Method for the phase distortion compensation timing offset and DC eliminator for the pilot component estimation and removal, transmitted and received signal correlation in the delay scheme DAB interference cancellation based on the same channel for using for estimating the feedback signal based on a between for removal for the timing offset compensation It proposes a repeater. This was applied to the ATSC system. The on-channel repeater of the proposed interference cancellation based on the interference removing capability is improved in interference signal is 20dB greater than the primary transmission signal environment via the return channel estimation and improve performance RFP. Accordingly, it was confirmed by simulation that good signal is sent out with the improvement of the ability of the repeater.

The linearity of the GaAs FET power amplifier(PA) is greatly influenced by source and load impedance for the FETs. The third order intermodulation products, IM3, from the GaAs FET PA are investigated in relation with source and load impedance. From heuristic as well as analytic point of view, e.g., Volterra series analysis, is employed to analyze the effects of nonlinear circuit elements, gate-source capacitance, $C_{gs}$, and drain-source current, $I_{ds}$. The sweet spots where soure and load impedance produce the least intermodulation products are calculated and compared with the load and source pull data with good agreements. It also shows that source impedance has a greater effect on the intermodulation products than the load impedcnce.

When the feed of an offset reflector antenna is displaced from the focal point, the phase distortion results in the aperture field distribution, which in turn gives rise to a deviation of maximum beam, a decrease in gain, and an increase in sidelobes. In order to study these scan characteristics, an offset reflector antenna with the defocused feed is analyzed by a series expansion method using the Zernike polynomials, which can be used to calculate radiation pattern fast and exactly. And from the analyzed results, scan loss data in terms of reflector geometry are presented. And also, the BDF (beam deviation factor) expression is derived with offset reflector configuration analytically, and calculated results and simple formula of BDF are presented for determining beam deviation characteristics.
Thin films of Bi4-xSmxTi3O12(0$\leq$x$\leq$2) were prepared on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) at $700^{\circ}C$ using spin-coating with sols derived from Bi-Sm-Ti complex alkoxides. From X-ray diffraction analysis, it was observed that Sm-substituted phases resembled ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 in structure. Variations of their lattice parameters depending on the amount of Sm-substitution showed that an anomalous structural distortion might exist at x=1. The grain sizes of the thin films decreased from 0.115 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 0.078${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with increasing the amount of Sm-substitution. The dielectric constants and the remanent polarizations of the thin films decreased with increasing the amount of the Sm-substitution, which were related to decrease of the stereo-active Bi3+ ion contributing to polarization. However, these values were exceptionally high at x=1, compared to those of the other substituted phases. Such an anomaly suggests that the phase of x=1 has 1:1 chemical ordering between Sm and Bi in structure. The thin films of all compositions except x=2 showed ferroelectricity. The thin film of x=2 was paraelectric, whose grains were too fine to exhibit ferroelectricity.

Magnetic properties of 3d transition metals were determined by exchange interaction between magnetic ions that was characterized by the exchange integral. Bulk Mn material is one of transition metals that have been well known as an anti-ferromagnetic material due to an anti-parallel spin with negative exchange integral. Here we report on the MBE growth of Mn on $BaTiO_3$ (001) substrate and induced ferromagnetism. The bcc ${\alpha}$-Mn single crystal film has been grown on $BaTiO_3$ (100) substrate. The XRD and Raman results indicated that the structural phase transitions of $BaTiO_3$ substrate induced a lattice distortion at the interface. Consequently, the grown Mn film exhibits ferromagnetism with strong saturation magnetization of 495 emu/$cm^3$ at 320 K. The electrical resistivity of the Mn film strongly depended on the crystal structure of $BaTiO_3$ substrate.
The flying capacitor voltage control of the flying capacitor multi-level inverter (FCMLI) is very important for safe operation. The voltage unbalancing of flying capacitors caused serious problems in safety and reliability of system. In the FCMLI, balancing problem of the flying capacitor has its applications limited. The voltage unbalance is occurred by the difference of each capacitors charging and discharging time applied to FCMLI. This paper investigates and analyzes multi-carrier PWM methods to solve capacitor voltage balancing problem. The Phase-Shift PWM (PSPWM) method that is commonly used, The Modified Carrier-Redistribution PWM (MCRPWM) method and The Saw-Tooth-Rotation PWM (STRPWM) method are discussed and compared with respect to switching state, balancing voltage of capacitors and output waveform. These three PWM methods are analyzed by using a flying capacitor three-level inverter and provided result through simulation. Finally, the harmonics about the output voltages of their methods are compared using the harmonic distortion factor (HDF).
