민간약 후박잎의 생약학적 연구 (Pharmacognostical Studies on the Folk Medicine 'HooBakIp')

  • HooBakIp is one of the Korean crude drugs used mainly to cure a headache, apoplexy and dyspepsia. With regard to the botanical origin of HooBakIp, it has been considered to the Machilus thunbergii of Lauraceae in Korea. But there has no pharmacognostical conformation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of HooBakIp, the anatomical characteristics of the leaf of Machilus thunbergii, Machilus thunbergii var. obovata and Machilus japonica were studied. As a result, it was clarified that HooBakIp from Korea was the leaf of Machilus thunbergii.

한약 "용담(龍膽)"의 생약학적 연구 (Pharmacognostical Studies on the Chinese Crude Drug 'Yong Dam')

  • The Chinese crude drug, 'Yong Dam (龍膽)' which is derived from the root of Gentiana plants of the family Gentianaceae, has been used as remedy for stomachic, intestinal catarrh, convulsion, etc. With regard to the botanical origin of 'Yong Dam', it has been considered to be Gentiana species of Gentianaceae, especially Gentiana scabra, but there has no pharmacognostical confirmation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Yong Dam' from Korea, we studied on the anatomical characteristics of Gentiana species growing wild in Korea i.e. Gentiana scabra var. buergeri, G. uchiyamai, G. triflora, G. axillariflora var. coreana and of 'Yong Dam' from Korea on Korean market. Through our studies, the botanical origin of 'Yong Dam' from Korea was proved to be Gentiana scabra var. buergeri and Gentiana axillariflora var. coreana.

  • 1. Panax ginseng의 재배년수에 따른 내부형태적 차이를 검토한 결과, 소엽신(小葉身)의 주맥부(主脈部), 소엽병(小葉柄), 엽병(葉柄)의 횡절면(橫切面)에 있어서 각각의 특징에 의하여 발육년수(年數)를 판단할 수가 있었다. (Tabel II) 2. 내부형태를 비교검토한 결과, 서울, 부산, 대구, 금산의 $\ulcorner$인삼잎$\lrcorner$은 원식물(原植物)이 Panax ginseng으로서 대부분이 5년 및 6년생이었으며 부분적으로 4년생이 함유되어 있었다.

  • Ig Mo Cho (益母草) has been used as remedy for invigorating blood circulation to remove blood stasis and relieving edema by inducing diuresis. With regard to the botanical origin of Ig Mo Cho, it has been considered to be Leonurus spiecies of Labiatae, but there has never been pharmacognostical confirmation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of Ig Mo Cho from Korea, the anatomical characteristics of Leonurus japonicus and L. sibiricus were studied. As a result, the botanical origin of Ig Mo Cho from Korea was proved the herba of Leonurus japonicus.

  • The leaves of Annona squamosa Linn. (Annonaceae), commonly called as custard apple, are popularly used for the treatment of diabetes by various tribes in India. The leaves are also used for their powerful insecticidal activity, especially for destroying lice. This paper present a detailed pharmacognostical study of the crude drug folium Annona squamosa. The samples were studied using procedures of light, confocal microscopy, WHO recommended physico-chemical determinations and authentic phytochemical procedures. The physicochemical, morphological and histological parameters presented in this paper may be proposed as parameters to establish the authenticity of Annona squamosa leaf and may possibly help to differentiate the drug from its adulterants.

  • Korean folk medicine 'Sin Seong Cho' (神聖草)has been used to cure common cold, neuralgia and cancer of the stomach in Korea. The botanical origin of the crude drug has been no pharmacognostical confirmation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Sin Seong Cho', the morphological and anatomical characteristics of the rhizomes of Davallia mariesii Moore and Neocheiropteris ensata (Thunb.) Ching growing in Korea were examined. As the result, it was made clear that 'Sin Seong Cho' from Korea was derived from the rhizomes of Davallia mariesii, rarely from the rhizomes of Neocheiropteris ensata.

  • Korean folk medicine 'MeoRuIp' has been used to cure cough, rheumatism and abdominal pain after child birth. There has been no pharmacognostical confirmation on the botanical origin of the crude drug. To clarify the botanical origin of 'MeoRuIp', the morphological and anatomical characteristics of the leaves of Vitis and Ampelopsis species growing in Korea, i.e. Vitis amurensis, V. amurensis forma. glabrescens, V. flexuosa, V. thunbergii var. sinuata and Ampelopsis brevipedunculata var. heterophylla were studied. As a result, it was clarified that 'MeoRuIp' was the leaf of Vitis amurensis and Vitis flexuosa.

  • 'Hoo Bak' is one of the Chinese crude drugs used mainly to cure a headache, apoplexy and dyspepsia.   • Korean folk medicine 'Jin Hae Cho' has been used as a remedy for neuralgia and an invigorating drug after a childbirth in Korea. The botanical origin of the crude drug has been no pharmacognostical confirmation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Jin Hae Cho', studied on the morphological and anatomical characteristics of the roots of Potentilla species growing wild in Korea i.e. Potentilla chinensis Ser., P. cryptotaeniae Maxim., P. dickinsii Fr. et Sav., P. discolor Bunge, P. fragarioides L. var. major Maxim., P. freyniana Bornm., P. kleiniana Wight et Arnott, P. paradoxa Nutt., P. yokusaiana Makino and 'Jin Hae Cho' from Korea on Korean market. As a result, it was made clear that 'Jin Hae Cho' from Korea was derived from the roots of Potentilla chinensis Ser. and Potentilla discolor Bunge.

  • Korean folk medicine 'BoRiSuNaMu' has been used mainly to cure apepsia and cough. With regard to the botanical origin of BoRiSuNaMu, it has been considered to be Elaeagnus species of Elaeagnaceae, but there was no pharmacognostical conformation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of 'BoRiSuNaMu', the anatomical characteristics of the branches of Elaeagnus species growing wild in Korea, Elaeagnus glabra, E. macrophylla, E. multiflora, E. submacrophylla, E. umbellata and E. umbellata var. coreana were studied. As a result, it was clarified that 'BoRiSuNaMu' was the branches of Elaeagnus umbellata.
