  • DA-8159 is a new. highly selective. potent cyclic-GMP phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical Company(Kyunggi, Korea) as an oral drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. NO- cGMP signal transduction pathway plays a key role for relaxation of corpus cavernosal smooth muscle. In this study. the efficacy of DA-8159 was evaluated by measuring the length of uncovered penile mucosa in spinal cord injury(SCI) rabbits. (omitted)

  • Mouse monocolonal antibodies to Hepatitis B surface antien (HBsAg) were prepared and their functional capabilities tested by the method of solid phase enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA). HBsAg binding studies inicated that one monoclonal antibody 6E-1-1 bound more HBsAg at a faster rate than the other monoclonal antibodies. Also, for the binding inhibition studies with the selected monoclonal antibody 6E-1-1, one monoclonal antibody 8D-3-6 didn't exhibit binding inhibition for HBsAg. Then, a simultaneous ELISA method was developed for the immunodiagnosis of HBsAg. Different combinations of two monoclonal antibodies as solid phase and horseradish peroxidase (HRPO) labeled phase were studied. The combination of monoclonal antibody of higher affinity constant (6E-1-1) immobilized in a solid phase and monoclonal antibody of lower affinity constant (8D-3-6) as a HRPO laeled phase was more sensitive when two monoclonal antibodies of different affinity constants for HBsAg were prepared.

  • After transitioning from periodic to model-based control policy for fire blight blossom infection, it is crucial to provide the timing of field application with easy and accurate information. To assess the risk of blossom infection, Maryblyt was employed in 31 sites across apple-producing regions nationwide, including areas prone to fire blight outbreaks, from 2021 to 2023. In 2021 and 2023, two and seven sites experienced Blossom Infection Risk-Infection warning occurrences among 31 sites, respectively. However, in 2022, most of the sites observed Blossom Infection Risk-Infection from April 25 to 28, highlighting the need for blossom infection control. For the comparison between the two model-based control approaches, we established treatment 1, which involved control measures according to the Blossom Infection Risk-Infection warning and treatment 2, aimed at maintaining the Epiphytic Infection Potential below 100. The analysis of control values between these treatments revealed that treatment 2 was more effective in reducing Blossom Infection Risk-Infection and the number of days with Epiphytic Infection Potential above 100, with respective averages of 95.6% and 93.0% over the three years. Since 2022, the implementation of the K-Maryblyt system and the deployment of Automated Weather Stations capable of measuring orchard weather conditions, with an average of 10 stations per major apple fire blight county nationwide, have taken place. These advancements will enable the provision of more accurate and timely information for farmers based on fire blight models in the future.

  • The residue of drug in foods of animal origin has increasingly become of interest to the entire livestock industry as growing consumer health concerns. The current overvie of feed additives and veterinary drugs used in Japan and their residual analysis has been reviewed. High performance liquid chromatographic technique(HPLC) with various detectors can be expected to be successfully applied for the routine analysis of residual feed additives and veterinary drugs including anabolic agents in livestock products.

  • A bacterium hydrolysing various organic materials including cellulose, protein, starch and lipid was isolated. The isolate was identified as Bacillus subtilis, and named Bacillus subtilis CK-2 in this paper. This bacterium showed optimal growth at $40\sim45^{\circ}C$, pH 6~9, and 0~3% of NaCl. B. subtilis CK-2 seemed to synthesis highly active autolysin. The hydrolytic enzymes produced by B. subtilis CK-2 were primary enzymes because extracellular enzyme activities varied similarly to the growth curve. The hydrolytic enzymes seemed to be stable at basic pH conditions. From these results, B. subtilis CK-2 was found to bea useful bacterial agent for composting, or for use in feed-production waste in agriculture, fishery, forest materials, livestock farming, and food.

  • Three sludge types from pharmaceutical byproducts and one sludge type from cosmetic waste-water sludge as raw materials of compost were used in a field based concrete pot ($4\;m^2$, $2\;m{\times}2\;m$) for investigating damage of red pepper cultivation. These sludges and pig manure (1 Mg/10a, dry basis) were incorporated into the upper of clay loam soil prior to transplanting with red pepper. Changes in concentration and properties of heavy metal for both of soil and plant were investigated 4 times during of red pepper growth. Plant height and stem diameter of red pepper in sludge treatments except to Pharmaceutical sludge 3 were poor than those of NPK treatment. This result were regarded as an effect of incompleted decomposition sludge which has a lot of organic matter concentration. Amount of total As was increased rapidly Jul. 8. in soil, total Zn Cu Pb Cd were in harvest time, and 1 N-HCl extractable Zn Cu Pb Cd As were in harvest at middle stage and then decreased. Amounts of nitrogen in plant (leaf and stem) were high in Phamaceutical Sludge 1 and fig Manure treatment in early and middle stage because of organic matter and nitrogen concentrations and characteristics. Amounts of Zn, Pb, and Ni in leaf and amount of Zn and Pb in stem were increased in harvest time so that we need to have a concern in detail. Total yield of red pepper was Pig Manure > Phamaceutical Sludge 3 > Phamaceutical Sludge 1 > NPK > Phamaceutical Sludge 2 and Cosmetic Sludge treatment was decreased considerably to compare to others. Amounts of Zn and Cu in green and red pepper in harvest time were higher than the other heavy metals. Finally these results can use to utilize that finding damage on crop for authorization and suitability estimation of raw material of compost.

  • Inclusion complex of sulfamethoxazole with ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ was prepared by freeze-drying method in molar ratios of 1:1, 1:1.25, 1:1.5 and 1:1.75, and the complex formation was identified by ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopies, powder X-ray diffractometry and differential scanning calorimetry. Dissolution rate and solid state stability of the complex were investigated in comparison with those of sulfamethoxazole powder and the physical mixture of sulfamethoxazole with ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$. As a result, the dissolution rate and the stability of solid complexes in various relative humidity conditions increased more remarkably than those of sulfamethoxazole powder and physical mixture. But the difference according to molar ratio of the complex was not recognized.

  • DA-8159. a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5: IC$\sub$50/ 5ng/$m\ell$). is being developed as a new treatment for erectile dysfunction. Since DA-8159 has been shown to inhibit PDE6 enzyme (IC$\sub$53ng/$m\ell$). we evaluated the effect of DA-8159 on electroretinogram (ERG) and retinal histopathology in rabbits. The effect of oral DA-8159 (5 to 30mg/kg) on ERG recordings was investigated at pre-treatment. 1 and 5 hrs after administration in rabbits. (omitted)
