고자기학(古磁氣學)연구를 위한 자성광물론(磁性鑛物論) (Magnetic Mineralogy in Palaeomagnetism)

  • palaeomagnetism is a major implement to define tectonic provinces and to estimate their past relative position quantitatively. In this sort of investigation it is tacitly assumed that the magnetization of the rocks under study was acquired at the time of their formation. However, because of the possibility of secondary alteration and/or replacement of magnetic minerals, this assumption is not always legitimate. To secure reliable palaeomagnetic data it is therefore fundamental to identify the carrier mineral of magnetization. This paper reviews magnetic mineralogy relevant to palaeomagnetism of terrestrial rocks. Under the heading of each mineral its genesis, crystal structure, magnetic properties, criteria for ore microscopic determination and secondary alteration are summerized. This paper should also be helpful in application of magnetic mineralogy to geothermometry and oxygen barometry in igneous petrology, diagenesis and provenance study in sedimentary petrology, metamorphic temperature determination and genesis study of ore deposits.

의성소익지(義城小益地) 신동층군(新洞層群)의 퇴적암석학(堆積岩石學) 및 퇴적환경(堆積環境) (Sedimentary Petrology and Depositional Environments of the Sindong Group in the Euiseong Subbasin)

  • Sedimentary petrology and depositional environments of the Sindong Group, consisting of in ascending order the Nagdong, Hasandong and Jinju Formations, in the Euiseong Subbasin are studied. For these, the Sindong sequence over 1,000m thick is measured at the scale of 1:200 and 36 thin sections of sandstones of the Hasandong Formation are studied under the polarizing microscope. In addition, published paleontologic data are incorporated in the sedimentologic interpretation. Most of the sandstones are classified as arkose. They are moderately sorted, near symmetrical to fine skewed and mesokurtic. Relationship between the textural parameters suggests a fluviatile environment of the Hasandong Formation. The Sindong fauna and flora also indicate non-marine depositional environments. Sedimentologic data of the measured sections show that the Sindong Group is made up of from the bottom an alluvial fan (lower part of the Nagdong Formation), a fluvial plain (upper part of the Nagdong Formation and the Hasandong Formation) and a fluvial/lacustrine (the Jinju Formation) deposits.

파주(波州) 산성화성암체(酸性火成岩體)의 암석학적(岩石學的) 연구(硏究) (Petrology and Petrochemistry of Pajoo Acidic Igneous pluton)

  • The study is on petrology and petrochemistry of Pajoo Acidic Igneous pluton which intruded into Precambrian metasediments of basement of the area. The geologic sequence of studied area was shown in table 1 and 10 modal analyses and 7 chemical analyses on the rock samples taken from the body. Pajoo Acidic Igneous rock consist of hypersthene-quartz-diorite and porphyritic adamellite which based on the classification of the subcommision on systematics of igneous rocks of IUGS. And porphyritic adamellite which occured as a small stock was intruded into hypersthene quartz diorite. The rock forming minerals of hypersthene quartz diorite are composed of plagioclase, perthite, quartz, hypersthene, hornblende, biotite and porphyritic adamellite is composed of perthite, quartz, plagioclase and biotite. And the former is hypidiomorphic granular texture and later is porphyritic texture with microcline phenocrysts. In silica-oxides variation diagram, the Pajoo acidic igneous rocks are similar to the trend of Daly's average composition and equivalent to the calc-alkalic rock series. In AMF diagram, these rocks are stock of fissure filling vein type by cooling in magmatic differentiation.

전남(全南) 고흥반도(高興半島)에 분포(分布)하는 화산암류(火山岩類)의 화산층서(火山層序) 및 암석학적(岩石學的) 연구(硏究) (Volcano-Stratigraphy and Petrology of the Volcanic Mass in the Koheung Peninsula, South Cheolla Province, Korea)

  • The author aimed to describe the volcano-stratigraphy and petrology of the volcanic mass in the Koheung peninsula, South Cheolla province. The volcanic mass is composed of the volcanics and intrusives of late Cretaceous which extruded the Pre-cambrian metamorphic(Jirisan gneiss complex) and the early Cretaceous sedimentary(Duwon Formation) basement. The volcanic pile consists of, in ascending order, Bibongsan andesite, Koheung tuff and breccia, and Palyeongsan welded tuff, and are intruded by ring intrusives( intrusive breccia, andesite porphyry, intrusive rhyolite and fine-grained quartz-diorite) and central pluton(diorite, quartz monzodiorite, biotite granite and micrographic granite). Bibongsan andesite mainly consists of andesite tuff and lava. Koheung tuff consists of alternation of fine tuff, coarse tuff and lapilli tuff, and Palyeongsan welded tuff which overlies Koheung tuff, comprises K-feldspar and quartz phenocrysts, elongated brown fiamme, lithic fragments in matrix of devitrified brown glass shards, and mainly consists of rhyodacite to rhyolite vitric ash-flow tuff. The results of petrochemical studies of the igneous rocks suggest that the rocks were a serial differentiational products of fractional crystallization of calc-alkaline magma series. This study reveals that the volcanic mass in this area is inferred to the remnant of the resurgent cauldron, measuring 30 by 25 km in diameter. The cauldron block was lowered at least 1,000 m by ring fault displacement.

학술지 자원환경지질 게재논문의 연구동향 분석연구 (1968-2017) (Analysis of Research Trends in the Journal of Economic and Environmental Geology: 1968-2017)

  • 이 자료는 학술지 "자원환경지질(구(舊). 광산지질)"에 수록된 논문을 대상으로 전반적인 연구동향을 살펴봄으로써 현재까지의 연구성과를 점검하고 앞으로의 발전과제를 탐색하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 10년을 단위로 하는 시대별, 학회지명 변경 시점별, 10권을 단위로 하는 권호별로 구분하여 연구동향을 분석하였다. 분석대상은 1968년 창간호부터 최근 2017년까지 게재된 학술논문 1,886편이다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 전체적으로 보면, 창간이후 현재까지 '암석학 및 지구화학' 분야의 논문이 30.4%로 가장 높은 비중을 차지하며, 그 다음으로 '금속광상'과 '지구물리 및 탐사' 분야가 각각 18.3%, 14.9%로 비교적 높은 분포를 나타내고 있다. 학회지명 변경 시점을 기준으로 가장 뚜렷한 차이를 보이는 영역은 '암석학 및 지구화학' 분야이다. "광산지질"에서 "자원환경지질"로 학회지명 변경 이전인 1993년까지는 '암석학 및 지구화학'의 논문이 21.5%(121편)였지만 "자원환경지질"로 변경된 1994년 이후는 34.1%(452편)를 차지한다. 학술지 권호 및 연구분야별 분석결과에 따르면, '암석학 및 지구화학'의 논문은 21-30권호부터 급증하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 그러나, '금속광상'과 '비금속광상' 영역은 최근호로 올수록 감소하는 추세가 두드러지고 있다. 본 자료는 학술지 "자원환경지질"의 50년 역사를 종합적으로 재조명하기 위해 수록된 논문들을 양적으로 분석하고 이를 토대로 향후 발전과제를 탐색해 봄으로써 총체적 모습을 파악하기 위한 단초를 제공했다는데 의의가 있다.

  • Low-sulfidation style ore deposits, the major source of Au, Ag, and Hg, are formed from neutral-pH, reduced hydrothermal solutions close to equilibrium with their host rocks. The waters are low-salinity (〈1 wt % NaCl equiv.) but relatively gas rich (1-2 wt % $CO_2$), and are largely meteoric water. However, the contribution of magmatic components to the epithermal system, its temporal importance, and its relation to the source of ore metals are largely controversial. (omitted)
