Research on the Actual State of Environmental Disease and Health Education at Middle and High School Students (일 지역 중.고등학생들의 환경성 질환 및 보건교육 실태 조사)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to perform basic study on environmental and respiratory diseases in Ulsan and vicinities. Also, this study evaluated the actual state of environmental disease and health education at middle and high schools in Ulsan and surroundings. Methods: For this study, we conducted a survey on the health of the general public, environmental effects, and investigated the characteristics of environmental disease, health and hygiene education, etc. The populations of this study were middle and high school students in Ulsan, Korea. This study investigated the knowledge of environmental disease and health education at schools in Ulsan and vicinities from November 2009 to December 2009. All statistical calculations were performed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows, and gained the following results by implementing Frequency Analysis, Cross-tabulation Analysis and ANOVA. Results: As more and more environmental diseases are increased, the interest of the people has been increasing on this. The incidence rates of asthma and atopy were represented the top 25% of the country in Korea. The source of heavy metal, PAHs and VOCs in Ulsan includes the Petrochemical Complex at Nam-gu and Ulju-gun, the Nonferrous Metal Industrial Complex at Onsan-eup, Ulju-gun, and the Heavy Industrial Complex at Dong-gu and Buk-gu. Especially, there are a number of fossil fuel combustion facilities such as waste incineration plants and boilers at Nam-gu and the Onsan Industrial Complex. It may help greatly to investigate the characteristics of environmental pollutants such as environmental air pollutant and indoor contaminant to better manage the local student's health. Conclusions: It has been revealed that the hazardous chemicals and environmental contaminants are main substances of cause for asthma, atopy, dermatitis, and allergy disease. Therefore, through with collecting basic data such as environmental disease of inhabitants, health education, conscious and knowledgeable level in parents of students and students, We have to exert to improve knowledge and prevention with health life in school through development of health education program systematically for preventing of environmental disease.

Gas Transport Properties of Crosslinked Polyimide Membranes Induced by Aliphatic Diamines with Different Chain Length (사슬 길이가 다른 지방족 디아민으로 가교된 폴리이미드 분리막의 기체 투과 특성)

  • 2,3,5,6-Tetramethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (TMPD) based polyimide (PI) were crosslinked with 1,2-Diaminoethane (DAE) and 1,6-Diaminohexane (DAH) to enhance gas transport properties. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) studies show that imide groups were converted into amide groups during crosslinking process. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results indicate that the degradation temperature of crosslinked PI membranes decreased after crosslinking. This is due to degradation of alkyl group in crosslinking agent. The d-space of crosslinked PI membranes decreased with increasing crosslinking time. The ideal permeability for $CH_4$, $N_2$, $O_2$, and $CO_2$ decreased after crosslinking and the ideal permeability of crosslinked PI membranes induced by DAH is larger than that by DAE. In contrast, the permselectivity of $CO_2/CH_4$, $CO_2/N_2$ and $O_2/N_2$ increased during crosslinking. For the gas pair of $CO_2/CH_4$, the maximum increment is about 39.5% after 6 minutes of DAE crosslinking. Also, that of $O_2/N_2$ gas pair is about 20.5% after 6 minutes of DAE crosslinking. According to these result, DAE is more suitable for enhanced permselectivity than DAH. On the contrary, DAE is not useful for $CO_2/N_2$ separation due to reduction in $CO_2/N_2$ permselectivity after 3 minutes DAE crosslinking.

A Study on the Direct Discharge Test for Verifying Design Concentration and Soaking Time for CO2 Fire Extinguishing System of Total Flooding (전역방출방식 CO2 소화설비의 설계농도 및 유지시간 검증을 위한 직접방사실험에 관한 연구)

  • Indirect Test Method is often used instead of direct test method in test method for extinguishing performance of $CO_2$ extinguishing facility because of high cost, environment problems and difficulties of procedure. But in the danger facilities for a unit of nation, such as a petrochemical plant, a nuclear power plant, or etc. is better to verify the performance of the extinguishment through direct discharge test. In $CO_2$ extinguishing system for total flooding system installed in dangerous facilities in Korea, each protected area in surface fire and deep-seated fire had selected and verified of extinguishing performance of $CO_2$ extinguishing facilities. To get recognized as extinguishing performance, discharged $CO_2$ concentration to protected area should be equivalence with design concentration standards (NFSC and NFPA). The Design Concentration means that $CO_2$ extinguishing agent is considerate of concentration for percentage of allowance (20 %) from extinguishing concentration which available to control of flame. As test result, surface fire and deep seated fire in protected area is obtained $CO_2$ design concentration and maintained design concentration more than 20 minutes as deep-seated fire. Through this study, we introduced direct discharging test method and decision method. And furthermore, especially in the dangerous facilities as a unit of Nation, we suggested necessity about reliability of extinguishing facilities to use direct test method.

  • For the design of the prevention and mitigation measures in process industries involving flammable substances, reliable safety data are required. An important property used to estimate the risk of fire and explosion for a flammable liquid is the flash point. Flammability is an important factor to consider when developing safe methods for storing and handling solids and liquids. In this study, the flash point data were measured for the binary systems {2-butanol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane}, {2-butanol + methylcyclohexane} and {2-butanol + toluene} at 101.3 kPa. Experiments were performed according to the standard test method (ASTM D 3278) using a Stanhope-Seta closed cup flash point tester. A minimum flash point behavior was observed in the binary systems as in the many cases for the hydrocarbon and alcohol mixture that were observed. The measured flash points were compared with the predicted values calculated via the following activity coefficient (GE) models: Wilson, Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL), and UNIversal QUAsiChemical (UNIQUAC) models. The predicted data were only adequate for the data determined by the closed-cup test method and may not be appropriate for the data obtained from the open-cup test method because of its deviation from the vapor liquid equilibrium. The predicted results of this work can be used to design safe petrochemical processes, such as the identification of safe storage conditions for non-ideal solutions containing flammable components.

  • Several complex processes that are employed in industries, such as shipping, power plants, and the petrochemical industry, involve time-varying behavior as well as strong nonlinear behavior during operation. The fixed-parameter proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers have difficulty in dealing with control problems that occur in such processes. In this paper, we propose a method of designing a nonlinear PID controller for industrial processes that exhibit a large number of nonlinearities and time-varying behavior. The gains of the nonlinear PID controller are characterized by a simple nonlinear function of the error and/or error rate depending on the process set-point and output. We tune the user-defined parameters using a genetic algorithm by minimizing the integral of time absolute error (ITAE) index. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed method by performing a comparison of the proposed method and two other nonlinear and adaptive methods that are employed for reference tracking, disturbance-rejection performances, and robustness to parameter changes on a continuously stirred tank reactor.

Reaction Characterization of Y2Ba1CU1O5 Oxides by Solid State Reaction Method and Pyrophoric Synthesis Method (고상반응법과 발화합성법에 의한 Y2Ba1CU1O5 산화물의 반응특성)

  • $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5(Y211)$ powders were prepared by pyrophoric synthesis method and by solid state reaction method using $Y_2O_3(99.9%)$, $BaCO_3(99.9%)$, and CuO(99.9%) powders in both of these processes. The phase formation and reaction kinetics of $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5$ powders have been studied using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD) of samples at various heat treatment temperatures and reaction time. The reaction characterization suggested that the phase formation rate is mainly controlled by the particle size of Y211 powders. The activation energy(${\Delta}E_a$) of Y211 phase formation in this pyrophoric synthesis method was found to be 136.42 kJ/mol compared with 149.46 kJ/mol for that of solid state reaction method. These results data showed that the pyrophoric synthesis method is kineticaly more efficient than the solid state reaction method in this $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5$ system.

Water and Wastewater Minimization Technology Through Process Water-Reusing Optimization (공정용수 재이용 최적화를 통한 용수 및 폐수 최소화 기술)

  • Designing water-reuse network which can reduce the fresh water within the process and increase the water-use efficiency by scientific and systematic analysis is recently interested in the industries. Water systems often allow efficient water uses via water reuse and recirculation in the paper, petrochemical, and steel industries which necessitate a lot of freshwater within the process. Defining network layout connecting water-using process is frequently accomplished by using water pinch technology which optimizes freshwater entering the process and also reduces the wastewater. In this review, recent researches and case studies of water pinch technology which can find the bottleneck of the water stream at the water reuse designing stage are introduced. Necessity of water pinch technology is illustrated by examples of real industries. Recent studies on simultaneous energy and water minimization and water-reuse network among industries in eco-industrial park(EIP) are also introduced.

Degradation Evaluation of High Pressure Reactor Vessel in field Using Electrical Resistivity Method (전기비저항법을 이용한 고압반응기 열화도 현장평가)

  • Because explosive fluid is used at high temperature or under high pressure in petrochemistry and refined oil equipment, the interest about safety of equipments is intensive. Specially, the safety of high pressure reactor vessel is required among them. The material selected in this study is 2.25Cr-1Mo steel that is widely used for high pressure reactor vessel material of petrochemical plant. Eight kinds of artificially aged specimens were prepared by differing from aging periods under three different temperatures. The material was iso-thermally heat treated at higher temperatures than $391^{\circ}C$ that is the operating temperature of high pressure reactor vessel. Vickers hardness properties and electrical resistivity properties about artificially aged material as well as un-aged material were measured, and master curves were made out from the correlation with larson-Miller parameter. And electrical resistivity properties as well as Victors hardness properties measured at high pressure reactor vessel of the field were compared with master curves made out in a laboratory. Degradation evaluation possibility in the field of high pressure reactor vessel by using electrical resistivity method was examined. Electrical resistivity property measured in the field is similar with that of artificially aged material in similar aging level.

Fundamental Properties of Asphalt Concrete Mixture as Using TDF Fly Ash as Mineral Filler (아스팔트 콘크리트 채움재로 TDF Fly Ash 적용에 따른 아스팔트 혼합물 기초 물성 평가)

  • TDF (Tire derived fuel) Fly ash is an industrial by-product when scraped tire was used a fuel source at the power plant. TDF Fly ash has been classified as domestic waste at the workplace so far and has not been appropriately utilized. We conducted a fundamental physical property test of asphalt mixture to investigate the possibility of using TDF Fly ash as a mineral filler of asphalt mixture for exploring new usage strategies. TDF Fly ash meets KS F 3501 asphalt mixture mineral filler criteria. And the optimal asphalt binder amount was determined to be 4.5% by Marshall design. Mineral filler content was determined at 3% and analyzed by comparing using mineral filler as stone powder. The basic physical property test of the asphalt mixture was evaluated to the provision indicated in "Production and Construction Guidelines for Asphalt Mixture" published by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In the test, Marshall stability test, dynamic immersion test, tensile strength ratio test, wheel tracking test were carried out. As a result of the experiment, Marshall stability and dynamic stability satisfied the standards, and confirmed the stability and Dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio test that TDF Fly ash is more effective for scaling and moisture resistance than stone dust. Therefore, in this research, it is expected that multilateral utilization of TDF Fly ash, and a positive effect can be also expected.

Insurance Coverage of Property Damage in Petrochemical Industry (석유화학공업 재물손해의 보험대책)

  • 1988년 이전에는 한국의 석유화학공장은 다른 나라에 비하여 관리상태나 손해상황이 양호한 공 장으로 여겨져 거의 안전도조사(underwriting survey)가 실시되지 않았으나 1989년 이후부터 보험사고가 급격히 증가, 보험금 지급이 많아져 위험조사를 실시한 후 보험을 인수하게 되었다. 일반적으로 석유화학공업의 내용연수는 15년에서 20년으로 보고 있으며 미국, 일본 등 선진국 에서도 건설한지 20년을 전후해서 사고가 다발한다는 점은 국내 석유화학공장의 안전성 확보대 책에서 중요한 점을 시사한다. 석유화학공업의 안전성 확보대책으로서 해외재보험자가 요구하고 있는 "경영전반적인 위험관리"를 도입 추진하여야 할 것으로 사료된다. 여기에는 사전적 손해 방지대책을 포함하는 위험통제는 기본적으로 이루어져야 하며 사후적 대책인 위험재무도 경영 효율이 극대화되도록 하여야 한다. 그러나 최근 들어 국내공장의 사고빈발로 해외재보험자들이 재물손해의 자기부담금액(deductible)인상(business interuption)의 Time Excess연장(7일에서3 0일) 등의 보험조건을 강화하고 있다. 따라서 외국의 사고 경험에 비추어 국내 플랜트의 내용연 수가 거의 다 되어서 사고발생위험이 잠재하고 있고 석유화학공업의 특성상 사고빈도는 낮으나 손해규모가 대규모이고 국가경제에 기여하는 비율이 타산업에 비해 월등히 크다는 점 등에서 안전대책에 대한 경영자의 관심제고를 밑바탕으로 한 위험관리의 정착화, 안전기준 등의 국제 수준으로 향상 및 전문기술인력 확보를 통하여 사고발생 억제에 대하여 소홀히 해서는 안된다고 사료된다.안된다고 사료된다.작 원리 및 제조방법에 대하여 기술한다. 2차원 그래픽의 기능만으로도 충분한 역할을 수행할 수 있지만, 그 다음 단계인 기본설계나 상세설계와의 자료 공유를 생각하면, 3차원 그래 픽이 필요하다. 다만, 3차원 그래픽 기능을 추가하기 위해 많은 노력이 요구되는데, 현재 PHIG S와 x-window가 결합되어 PEX라는 라이브러리로 개발되고 있으므로 차후의 연구에 포함될 수 있을 것이며, 이 글에서는 간단한 2차원 그래픽 기능만을 이용하였다. 앞으로 PEX의 기능을 적 절히 구사하면, 좋은 효과를 볼 수 있을 것이다. 279cm 되게 하고 선축은 팬톰의 27번 절편과 28번 절편의 접변과 최대 전단면의 교차선과 일치시켜 양방향에서 15분씩 조사하여 전단면에서 선량을 측정하였다. 팬톰내 선축상 중앙점의 선량을 기준으로 다른 부위의 선량을 비교하였다. 두경부와 복부, 폐의 하반에서 선량의 차이는 $\pm$ 10% 이내였고, 폐의 상반과 어깨와 골반 부위에서 선량은 10%이상 저선량을 보였다. 특히 어깨부위에는 30%이상 저선량을 보였다. 이로부터 서울대병원과 유사한 조건에서 코발트로 전신조사하는 경우에는 폐나 두경부에 대응하는 조직보상체를 이용하기보다는 어깨부위에 선량을 추가하는 것이 바람직할 것이라고 생각한다.alpha$ 부분공간들의 합공간 역시 on-semistrbtifiable over $\alpha$ 하다. 6. 폐연속 net-cevering 함수에 의하여 cn-semistratifiable over $\alpha$ 성질이 보존된다. 보잘것이 없었고, 현재에도
