Study on How Service Usefulness and Privacy Concern Influence on Service Acceptance (서비스의 유용성과 프라이버시 염려도가 개인화 된 서비스 수용성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • As the highly improved Internet and information technology has led to the diversification of users' demands, personalization service attract lots of attention as a means to meet highly diversified demand of users. However, personalization service costs a lot. Also concerns over a possible violation of privacy have been raised since the service uses technology to find out the users' profiles. This research studies the advantages individuals acquire from personalization service and how privacy concern influences service acceptance. Research on related documents and information gathering from e-commerce sites derived six representative types of service. Questionnaires were utilized to research privacy concern according to services, service usefulness, and service acceptance. As expected, privacy concern has a negative relation to acceptance while service usefulness has a positive relation to it, thereby resulting in an offset between two variables. Moreover, they play a different role depending on what kinds of service or in formation should be provided. The results derived from this paper will help the e-commerce sites provide personalization service by collecting personal information while protecting users' privacy.

Customizing Ground Color to Deliver Better Viewing Experience of Soccer Video

  • In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

  • In this paper, a methodolgy for customizing web pages for indivisual users is suggested. It shows an efficient way to personalize web pages by predicting one's site access pattern. In addition, the prediction can reflect one's tendency after actual purchase. By using the APRIORI algorithm, one of the association rule search methods, the associativity among the purchase items can be inferred. This inferrence is based on the log data in a web server and database about purchase. Finally, a web page which contains the relationship, relative links on other web pages, and inferred items can be generated after this process.

  • Recently, more firms have shown an interest in implementing knowledge management methods. However, few companies are capable of adopting knowledge management methods effectively to improve organizational performance because it is still unclear how these methods improve corporate performance. To find this relationship between knowledge management methods and organizational performance, this paper analyses effects of knowledge management methods on corporate performance empirically. 51 Korean firms are selected as a sample base for empirical tests. Knowledge management methods can be categorized into four styles; harmony, codification, personalization, and ignorance. For example, the emphasis of harmony style is on both knowledge reusability using information technologies and knowledge sharing through informal intimacy among employees. Corporate performance varies depending on styles. Harmony style is founded to be most effective for corporate performance. Personalization and codification styles don't show any difference. This outcome is in line with the general observation that both tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge are important for effective knowledge management.

  • Huge amount of useful information is getting added to the academic digital world everyday, This digitalized information is heterogeneous and remained limited to a local domain only. How to integrate and share this scattered knowledge with simplicity remained a big challenge. In this paper, we propose a prototype of web application for accomplishing above task using web 2.0 features; it makes traditional academic digital libraries to form as a special case of collaborative environment. This application enables users to customize their own resources to form their own virtual digital library. Further users can utilize personalized information of other users working in similar research domain to form true collaborative environment. The model and framework for the new look of academic digital library is presented.

Case study: Improvement of Purchase Conversion Rate in Mobile Game Site using Six Sigma Process (6시그마 프로세스를 활용한 모바일 게임 사이트의 구매 전환율 향상에 관한 사례연구)

  • This article presents a six sigma project for improving purchase conversion rate in mobile game site. The project was carried out based on DMAIC process. First, a defect rate is defined as low purchase conversion rate. In addition, 60-days purchase data was analyzed and it is shown that the defects level was 2.48 sigma level. In this study, in order to raise the sigma level, six personalization services were used in the mobile game site. Six factors were determined based on FDPM(Functional Deployment Process Map), fishbone chart, linear regression analysis, effort-performance matrix, and so on. The sigma level of defects has improved from 2.48 to 2.93.

  • 인터넷 검색 기술은 발전을 거듭하고 있지만 불필요한 정보의 과잉현상으로 개인에게 필요한 정보나 서비스를 찾기 위해서는 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하다. 웹 사이트 개인화(web site personalization)는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 노력으로 맞춤형 정보를 제공한다. 특히 차세대 인터넷 접속 매체인 PDA나 휴대폰, 스마트폰 등 모바일 단말기가 보편화되면서 작은 화면이나 낮은 대역폭과 같은 무선 환경의 단점을 극복하고 개인화의 장점을 얻을 수 있는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 사이트에서 제공되는 서비스 페이지들을 사용자의 개인별 선호도에 따라 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 추출하여 제공함으로써 단순히 웹 페이지에 대한 사용자 접근 패턴을 이용한 기존 모바일 개인화 시스템의 단점을 극복한 웹 서비스 페이지 중심의 모바일 개인화 기법을 제안한다.
