Methods: The 50 sites were selected for evaluation. Inclusion criteria for evaluation were the purpose and the popularity of the sites. Two kinds of evaluation tool were employed for the analysis: one that evaluate the quality of information and the design of the web sites, and another that evaluate the covered contents. A scoring system allowed the sites point on yes/no basis on the evaluation items. The association between quality of the web sites on sexuality education and their site characteristics were assessed using ANOVA. Conclusions: Major conclusions were as follows. First, the scope and currency of the selected web sites were found to be appropriate. Second, the authority of the information was found to be the most serious problem of the selected sites. Third, the category of sexual behavior found to be the most frequently mentioned and sexual health was the second. The least mentioned category was personal skills. • In this paper, an investigation on internet safety of 244 national or public elementary schools' web sites was performed with two points of view : inappropriate material posting and personal information exposure. The investigation results showed that obscene materials and commercial advertisements were uploaded into the bulletin board(67.2%) and students' personal information such as photograph, address, telephone number were exposed(87.3%). Most of the inappropriate materials were posted by auto-register programs. This problem was occurred due to reckless bulletin board opening and inappropriate management. On the contrary, personal information was exposed by teachers and students. They didn't not care about their personal information. It shows the fact that they have not recognized the danger of personal information exposure. Therefore managing real-name membership and enforcing permission to bulletin board were required to construct and use a safe school web site. Teachers have to understand not only negative effects appeared in a school web site but also latent dangerous factors.

  • This paper is an exploratory study to investigate the influence of characteristics of local government web-sites on user satisfaction and trust. The objective of this research is to identify the characteristics of local government web-sites influencing on user satisfaction and trust, and determine how they affect user satisfaction and trust. From the literature review, we identify four characteristics which are expected to influence on user satisfaction: technical, information, customer-oriented, and work-performing characteristics. In addition, we develop research model that the four characteristics are expected to affect user satisfaction and trust via users' perceived values. The results of the research are as follows. The technical, customer-oriented, and work-performing characteristics significantly affects perceived values, which significantly affected user satisfaction and trust. Perceived value is partially mediated by user satisfaction in affecting user trust. The characteristics of local government web-sites affecting perceived values differed partially by the purpose of visitor. As for the personal goal, the technical, customer-oriented, and work-performing characteristics significantly affect perceived values, with the technical and customer-oriented characteristics having more significant effects. As for the business goal, the technical, information, work-performing characteristics significantly affected perceived values, with information characteristics having more significant effects.

  • The purpose of the present study is to examine how visitors of personal web sites evaluate self presentation styles. We hypothesized that visitors' gender, self construals, and self esteem would influence the evaluation (likeability and perceived competence) of the self presentation styles (bragging or positive presentation). The hypothesized models were tested with structural equation modeling. Gender differences among the constructs were also examined through latent mean analysis. The results revealed that females tended to have higher interdependent self construal than males. And the male and the female students showed higher likeability toward the self presentations of the other gender. Regarding perceived competence, women and men perceived the other gender more competent, and especially, women perceived men's bragging presentation more competent. Self construals and self esteem, however, did not show any significant effects, which were inconsistent with the results of the previous studies conducted with offline self presentation styles. One of the main implications of this study is that visitors' gender, among other things, is the most infueltial factor in perceiving and evaluating others' self presentation through personal web sites.

  • Most research on web site design has focused on technological factors, while visual aesthetic factors have been considered less important. In contrast, this study focuses on visual aesthetic factors in web site design. Findings of this study can be summarized as follows : (1) The result of SPSS-factor analysis shows that there are 3 distinct factors, 'classical aesthetics', 'expressive aesthetics', and 'usability' 'Classical aesthetics' and 'expressive aesthetics' can be described by visual aesthetic design, 'Visual aesthetic design' can be distinguished from 'usability'. This conceptual confusion relating to 'usability' and 'visual aesthetic design' can be clarified by these findings. (2) As a result of multiple regression analyses, 'classical aesthetics', 'expressive aesthetics', and 'usability' have a positive influence on 'interactivity' and 'web site evaluation'. This research clarifies the concepts of 'expectations' of Grier [18] and 'engagement' of Rosen and Purinton [33] as the 'interactivity' between users and web sites. Furthermore, this research suggests a valid model with high $R^2$(interactivity, 48% : web site evaluation, 68%). (3) Empirical tests show that the differences among users in 'entry point' are related to the characteristics of web sites and the personal characteristics of users. The differences among users in terms of 'scanning time' are closely related to the attitudes and evaluation tendencies of users with respect to web sites. These findings could contribute to the 'search phase' of the Faraday model [16], enabling it to be more precise and extensible. The managerial implication of this study is that customers' preferences regarding web site designs are differences, as their preferences are based on their individual characteristics. Therefore, marketing managers should consider promotional tools on web sites that are relevant to the target market. An optimal strategy for web design could be a carefully-selected combination of factors that are relevant to the 'interactivity' and 'evaluation' of web sites. Additionally, if marketing managers want to attract more favorable attitudes and more affirmative evaluations from users, web sites should be designed so that they are understood more quickly by users. finally, this study suggests that 'good design' for web sites depends on understanding how to attain the appropriate balance between 'classical aesthetics' and 'expressive aesthetics', based on the target customer.
