  • A log periodic microstrip array antenna using direct coupling feeder is designed at the frequency 7.2-12.4GHz. Transmission line analysis method was used for the design of each antenna element in consideration of the effects of dielectric and conductor loss and the discontinuity, also the optimized feeding points were obtained for the impedance matching between a main transmission line and each antenna element. It is shown that the measured VSWR was less that 2.4 at the frequency 7.2-12.4GHz, and 53% bandwidth was achived.

  • Real-life time series characteristic data has significant amount of non-stationary components, especially periodic components in nature. Extracting such components has required many ad-hoc techniques with external parameters set by users in case-by-case manner. In our study, we evaluate whether Hilbert-Huang Transform, a new tool of time-series analysis can be used for effective analysis of such data. It is divided into two points : 1) how effective it is in finding periodic components, 2) whether we can use its results directly in detecting values outside control limits, for which a traditional method such as ARIMA had been used. We use glass furnace temperature data to illustrate the method.

  • Our paper deals with the following neutral nonlinear Levin-Nohel integro-differential with variable delay $${\frac{d}{dt}x(t)}+{\normalsize\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits_{t-r(t)}}^t}a(t,s)x(s)ds+{\frac{d}{dt}}g(t,x(t-{\tau}(t)))=0.$$ By using Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem we obtain the existence of periodic and positive periodic solutions and by contraction mapping principle we obtain the existence of a unique periodic solution. An example is given to illustrate this work.

  • Researches about scheduling of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points, not scheduling both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages or being unable to guaranteeing the end-to-end constraints due to omitting precedence relations between sporadic tasks. So this paper proposes a new scheduling method for distributed real-time systems consisting of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages, guaranteeing end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic (RM) scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.

  • Nonlinear normal modes(NNMs) is a branch of periodic solution of nonlinear dynamic systems. Determination of stable periodic solution is very important in many engineering applications since the stable periodic solution can be an attractor of such nonlinear systems. Periodic solutions of nonlinear system are usually calculated by perturbation methods and numerical methods. In this study, numerical method is used in order to calculate the NNMs. Iteration of the solution is presented by multiple shooting method and continuation of solution is presented by pseudo-arclength continuation method. The stability of the NNMs is analyzed using Floquet multipliers, and bifurcation points are calculated using indirect method. Proposed analyses are applied to two nonlinear numerical models. In the first numerical model nonlinear spring-mass system is analyzed. In the second numerical model Jeffcott rotor system which has unstable equilibria is analyzed. Numerical simulation results show that the multiple shooting method can be applied to self excited system as well as the typical nonlinear system with stable equilibria.

  • The scheduling methods of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points. They did not schedule both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages at the same time or did not consider the end-to-end constraints such as precedence relations between sporadic tasks. This means that system scheduling must guarantee the constraints of practical systems and be applicable to them. This paper proposes a new scheduling method that can be applied to more practical model of distributed real-time systems. System model consists of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages and has end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.

  • Abstract In the present study, the characteristics of kinematics and dynamics in the fluttering motion of free-falling plates are investigated at Reynolds number of $10^5$. We record quasi-two-dimensional trajectories of free-falling plates with and without superhydrophobic coating using high-speed camera, and compute the drag and lift forces by trajectory analysis. Translational and angular velocities are modeled as harmonic functions with specific phase differences. In particular, periodic mass elevations near turning points are explained using the suggested models. At each turning point, a sudden drop in lift and a rapid increase in drag occur simultaneously due to fast increase in angle of attack. However, the lift is increased over the buoyancy-corrected weight of plate during gliding flight, resulting in periodic mass elevations near turning points. Superhydrophobicity is shown to increase lift but to reduce drag on a fluttering plate, resulting in the decrease of mean descent speed.

  • The paper presents an investigation of the nonlinear dynamical system of an electrostatically actuated micro-cantilever by the incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method. An efficient approach is proposed to tackle the difficulty in expanding the nonlinear terms into truncated Fourier series. With the help of this approach, periodic and multi-periodic solutions are obtained by the IHB method. Numerical examples show that the IHB solutions, provided as many as harmonics are taken into account, are in excellent agreement with numerical results. In addition, an iterative algorithm is suggested to accurately determine period doubling bifurcation points. The route to chaos via period doublings starting from the period-1 or period-3 solution are analyzed according to the Floquet and the Feigenbaum theories.

  • Large bias errors which occur during a numerical evaluation of the Rayleigh's integral is not due to the replicated source problem but due to the coincidence of singularities of the Green's function and the sampling points in Fourier domain. We found that there is no replicated source problem in evaluating the Rayleigh's integral numerically by the reason of the periodic assumption of the input sequence in Dn or by the periodic sampling of the Green's function in the Fourier domain. The wrap around error is not due to an overlap of the individual adjacent sources but berallse of the undersampling of the Green's function in the frequency domain. The replicated and overlApped one is inverse Fourier transformed Green's function rather than the source function.

  • In this paper, author describe the simulation results concerning the period doubling bifurcation route to chaos of DC/DC boost converter under current mode control to show that it is common phenomena on switching regulator when parameters are improperly chosen or continuously varied beyond the ensured region by system designer. Bifurcation diagrams of periodic orbits of inductor current and capacitor voltage of DC/DC boost converter are plotted with sampled data at moment of each clock pulse causing switching on. DC/DC boost converter studied on this paper is modelled by its state space equations as per switching condition under continuous conduction mode. Current reference signal and capacitance are chosen as the bifurcation parameters and those are varied in step for iterative calculation to find bifurcation points of periodic orbits of state variables.
