  • Human performance of system control under excessive mental-workload may differ from stable situation. In this study, design guidelines of secondary control system were introduced to enhance performance of safety control system. Under urgent situation, the first performance criterion is not a reaction time but safe control reaction that prevents system disaster. Therefore it is important to find out the facts that are mainly related system safety. Experimental results show performance of primary task didn't reflect whole system influence within a limited short reaction time. In this situation, the secondary task is more sensitive to system influence that varied with some factors of urgent status. Therefore, when a system proceeds to abnormal and unsafe status, and even more the reaction time is limited within a very short time to control the system, the estimation of human performance is more sensitive using secondary task performance then primary task performance. Those results mean it is required to develop various secondary tasks to design safety control systems preventing disaster, And also require many studies of estimation methods human performances especially when system status varies dangerous and/or unsafe situation.

  • As part of the Nutrition CRSP Mexico project conducted in rural villages in highland Mexico, this study examined whether nutritional factors, family characteristics, and the duration of schooling were associated with cognitive performances in 107 schoolers(53 boys and 54 girls) aged 8~10. Food intake was measured by recall, direct observation and weighment twice monthly over the course of a year. Families were characterized in terms of socioeconomic status and parental cognitive performance, education and aspiration. Dietary quality, but not energy intake, and anthropometry (wt-for-age, ht-for-age, head circumference) were significantly associated with cognitive test results for both verbal and performance measures. When the effect of SES is controlled using partial correlation, the relationships were substantially weakened. Sex differences were also found in response to nutritional deprivation. Among boys, dietary quality was the most important indicator of cognitive performance, while household economic conditions were more importantly associated with cognitive performance among girls. Participation in schooling was important for cognitive skille as it related to nutritional status.

  • Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been under development for a variety of power generation applications. Power system sizes considered range from small watt-size units (e.g., 50-W portable devices) to very large multi-megawatt systems (e.g., 500-MW base load power plants). Because of the reversibility of its operation, the SOFC has also been developed to operate under reverse or electrolysis mode for hydrogen production from steam (In this case, the cell is referred to as solid oxide electrolysis cell or SOEC.). Potential applications for the SOEC include on-site and large-scale hydrogen production. One critical requirement for practical uses of these systems is long-term performance stability under specified operating conditions. Intrinsic material properties and operating environments can have significant effects on cell performance stability, thus performance degradation rate. This paper discusses potential applications of the SOFC/SOEC, technological status and current research and development (R&D) direction, and certain aspects of long-term performance degradation in the operation of SOFCs/SOECs for power generation/hydrogen production.

  • To analyze current status of CPX in colleges of Traditional Korean Medicine nationwide and investigate the operations required for its development and distribution, we investigate current status of CPX in the nationwide colleges of Traditional Korean Medicine and suggest an improvement plan. A total of 7 colleges (graduate schools) performed CPX using the standardized patients as of July 2020 out of 13 colleges (graduate schools). Because there are a significant number of CPX modules developed by the colleges of Traditional Korean Medicine, a wide array of characteristics of Traditional Korean Medicine are covered, based on the literatures of Traditional Korean medicine. The scope of Clinical Presentation should established and a CPX module should be standardized to expand and distribute CPX in the education of Traditional Korean Medicine. If multiple colleges collect, train and manage the standardized patients in cooperation, CPX could be performed more effectively. Furthermore, medical clinical performance guide for Traditional Korean Medicine should be developed in cooperation. Greater support in the form of manpower, finance, and administration are required to distribute CPX to all colleges and develop various CPX modules.

  • The bus contention among bus-based shared-memory multiprocessors limits their performance. In addition, under split bus transaction environment, multiprocessors may make some memory requests unnecessary stand by in the memory access buffer, which makes system performance worse. This unnecessary stand-by can be eliminated by maintaining the bitmap table which contains the status bit for each memory block. However, this mechanism requires a great size of SRAM for the status information, which is fully mapped from the whole memory blocks. To solve this problem, we propose a bitmap cache which exploits partial mapping and locality of references. The simulation results show that the proposed system can greatly reduce the capacity of SRAM for the status information with little deteriorating its performance.

Abstract TMN Agent manages the operational status and real-resources of network elements, such as switching nodes and transmission systems. It performs the requested management functions from manager and maintains consistent status data of real-resource. The performance of agent system affects directly the performance of network management operation. If the agent is implemented by sequential processing scheme with single process, the agent processing can be delayed or blocked according to the status of real-resources. This problem can be solved by parallel and distributed processing scheme. To improve the processing performance of TMN Agent, we propose a TMN Agent Platform's functional architecture that is based on parallel processing with multi-tread and effective message transferring scheme between agent and various real-resource. We analyze the performance of the implemented TMN Agent Platform.

  • Korea has a high proportion of self-employment. Many of them start the food business since it does not require high-techs and it is possible to start the business relatively easily compared to many others in business categories. However, the closure rate of the business is also high due to excessive competition and market saturation. Cafés and restaurants are examples of food business where the business analysis is highly important. However, for most of the people who want to start their own business, it is difficult to conduct systematic business analysis such as trade area analysis or to find information for business analysis. Therefore, in this paper, we predicted business status with simple information using Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio program. Experimental results showed higher performance than the number of attributes, and it is expected that this artificial intelligence model will be helpful to those who are self-employed because it can easily predict the business status. The results showed that the overall accuracy was over 60 % and the performance was high compared to the number of attributes. If this model is used, those who prepare for self-employment who are not experts in the business analysis will be able to predict the business status of stores in Seoul with simple attributes.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate whether the stress caused by day/night shifts on industrial workers can be affected through nutritional status. A sample of 573 female industrial workers, aged 17 through 23 years, from 4 different industries (2 in normal, 2 in 3 shift work pattern) were surveyed by questionaire examining their nutritional status, food intake, dietary habit, sleep complaint, performance of digestive organs, and degree of fatigue. Shift workers were surveyed during night work. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Sleep complaints and degree of fatigue in shift workers were higher than normal workers, whereas the performance of digestive organs were as lower than normal workers. These results showed that shift workers were more stressed than normal workers. 2. The workers who were surveyed were all poor in nutritional status. The intakes of calorie, protein, Ca, riboflavin, and ascorbic acid were lower than Korean Recommanded Dietary Allowences (RDA). Dietary habit of the shift workers was irregular. 3. There was a negative correlation between nutritional status and degrss of fatigue. The intakes of energy nutrients, ascorbic acid, and niain were significantly related to the degree of fatigue in which protein intake was found to be most influential. Among workers with the same level of protein intake, shift workers showed higher degree of fatigue. When the protein intake of shift workers was 100-125% of R.D.A., they showed the same degree of fatigue to the average normal workers.

  • This study has been done for the purpose of investigating the degrees of death orientation and terminal care performance. The factors related to these two variables, and the relationship between death orientation and terminal care performance. The subjects of study were 128 nurses who implemented nursing care for terminally ill patients at C University Hospital in Kwang Ju city. The data were collected from March 13 to 19, 1996, by means of Death Orientation by Thorson Powell(1988) and Terminal Care Performance Scale by researcher. The data were analysed by t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The Results of this study were summarized as follows : 1. The mean score of death orientation was 61.4. The degree of death orientation showed no significant difference depending on the general characteristics of nurses. 2. The mean score of terminal care performance was 45.5. In comparison of the degree of terminal care performance among three domains, the mean score of each item tended to show higher degrees in order of 'Psychological domain(2.4)', 'Physical domain(2.2)', 'Spiritual domain(1.9)'. 3. The degree of terminal care performance showed significant differences in age(F=11.48 p=.0001), marital status(t=10.49 p=.0015), religion(t=5.01 p=.0270), period of clinical experience(F=10.30 p=.0001) and ward unit(F=3.73 p=.0036). The degree of terminal care performance in physical domain showed significant differences in age(F=7.26 p=.0010), marital status(t=9.72 p=.0023), period of clinical experience(F=7.03 p=.0013), ward unit(F=6.23 p=.0001). The degree of terminal care performance in psychological domain showed significant differences in age(F=8.73 p=.0003), marital status(t=4.22 p=.0419), religion(t=5.59 p=.0196), period of clinical experience(F=6.36 p=.0023), ward unit(F=3.33 p=.0075). The degree of terminal care performance in spiritual domain showed significant differences in age(F=8.30 p=.0004), marital status(t=10.45 p=.0016), religion(F=5.41 p=.0216), period of clinical experience(F=8.80 p=.0003). 4. The relationship between the degrees of death orientation and terminal care performance showed no correlation(r=-.026 p=.7746).
