The Effect of Person-Job Fit on Job Performance : Mediating Effect of Work Engagement and Moderating Effect of Work Meaning (개인-직무 적합성과 직무성과의 관계에 대한 직무열의의 매개효과와 일의 의미의 조절된 매개효과 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of person-job fit on job performance. In the process, the moderating effect of the meaning of work and the mediating effect of work engagement was investigated. For this purpose, survey data were collected from 304 employees working at the company organization and analyzed using correlation and regression analysis. The summary of the study is as follows. First, there is a significant correlation between realistic person-job fit and perceived person-job fit. Second, perceived person-job fit is a significant predictor of job performance. Third, there is a mediating effect of work engagement in the relationship between person-job fit and job performance. Fourth, there is a moderating effect of the meaning of work in the relationship between person-job fit and work engagement. This study demonstrates the correlation of realistic and perceived person-job fit, which has not been studied in Korea before. It was found that person-job fit influences job performance through mediating emotional variables such as work engagement. From the point of view of organization managers, there is a need to provide a work environment that is appropriate for the characteristics of the employees and to manage how employees perceive person-job fit. In particular, it is necessary to support employees to recognize that their work promotes their growth and contributes to the public good. Finally, the limitations of the study and future research tasks were proposed.

Analyzing the Impact of Buffer Capacity on Crosspoint-Queued Switch Performance

  • We use both theoretical analysis and simulations to study the impact of crosspoint-queued (CQ) buffer size on CQ switch throughput and delay performance under different traffic models, input loads, and scheduling algorithms. In this paper, we present the following. 1) We prove the stability of CQ switch using any work-conserving scheduling algorithm. 2) We present an exact closed-form formula for the CQ switch throughput and a non-closed-form but convergent formula for its delay using static non-work-conserving random scheduling algorithms with any given buffer size under independent Bernoulli traffic. 3) We show that the above results can serve as a conservative guide on deciding the required buffer size in pure CQ switches using work-conserving algorithms such as the random scheduling, under independent Bernoulli traffic. 4) Furthermore, our simulation results under real-trace traffic show that simple round-robin and random work-conserving algorithms can achieve quite good throughput and delay performance with a feasible crosspoint buffer size. Our work reveals the impact of buffer size on the CQ switch performance and provides a theoretical guide on designing the buffer size in pure CQ switch, which is an important step toward building ultra-high-speed switch fabrics.

Influencing Factors Affecting Caregivers' Service Quality for the Elderly with Dementia: Focusing on Dementia Knowledge, Work Value, and Job Performance Confidence (치매 노인을 돌보는 요양보호사의 서비스 질에 미치는 영향요인: 치매에 대한 지식, 일 가치감과 업무수행 자신감을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify influencing factors affecting service quality provided by caregivers working for the elderly with dementia. Methods: Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from 214 caregivers in a long-term care facility in D city. The data were analyzed with service quality, dementia knowledge, work value, and job performance confidence. For data analysis, the descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were performed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in service quality depending on the health status. Factors influencing service quality were work value, and job performance confidence with R2 value of 38%. The highly influencing factors were work value, and job performance confidence. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the effort to improve the service quality of caregivers should focus on work value and job performance confidence.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the role of employee engagement as a mediator between the High-Performance Work System and the Service-Oriented Organizational Citizenship Behavior (Service-Oriented OCB). Furthermore, work-life balance as a moderator, the impact Service-Oriented OCB on customer satisfaction will be investigated. This study employs a quantitative methodology for which questionnaires were distributed to sixty restaurants in Karachi, and a sample of 418 responses was collected for structural equation modeling analysis. Smart PLS software was used to analyze the structure model. The results show that HPWS has a positive impact on Service-Oriented OCB. It is assumed that the role of work engagement as a mediator between HPWS and Service-Oriented OCB is significant. This study found that Service-Oriented OCB has a positive impact on customer satisfaction. Work-life balance was also found to have a moderating influence. The findings confirmed the black box mechanism and the HPWS procedures in restaurants. This study suggests implementing effective HPWS practices to influence employees' work engagement, which leads to Service-Oriented OCB and employees being able to optimize their performance to influence customer satisfaction. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge in human resource management.

The Study of Factors Related to Clinical Competency in Dental Hygienist (울산지역 치과위생사의 실무능력 관련요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this exploratory study was to assess work performance of dental hygienists and identify factors influencing their work performance. A questionnaire was administered to 87 dental hygienists working dental clinics based in Ulsan during the period from June 2005 through July 2005. A total of 77 questionnaires were collected and used for analysis. SPSS 11.5 program was employed for statistical analysis. All data were expressed in terms of numbers, percentage and mean score. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. There was a significantly positive correlation between age and the level of work performance in the Scientific competency group and Esthetical competency group. 2. Unmarried dental hygienists demonstrated better work performance than married dental hygienists in Scientific, Esthetical and Personal competency groups, showing a statistically significant difference. 3. By education level, those with junior college degree had better work performance than those who are attending or graduated from college in the four groups. By workplace, those who were working at non-general hospitals demonstrated a higher level of performance in the three groups except the Ethical group, but the difference was not statistically significant. 4. A significantly positive relationship was observed between monthly pay and work performance in the Scientific, Personal and Esthetical competency groups. 5. A positive relationship was observed between work experience and performance in the Scientific competency group. But there was no difference between work experience and performance in the other three groups. 6. By working environment, those who were working with assistant nurses showed a higher level of performance than those working without assistant nurses in the Scientific competency group, and the difference was statistically significant.

  • In A institute, project managers present quarterly project performance report according to institute's law. In quarterly project performance report, progress of project performance and budget expended should be written. Progress of project performance and progress of budget expended are key management factors in A institute. Because financial database system Is already constructed, progress of budget expended is got from information system. But the progress of project performance that project manager estimate subjectively can not be judged of its correctness because there is not project management information system that is able to calculate the progress of project performance systematically. In this study, we present the project management system assign all activities to every project participator according to their work share rate using WBS(Work Breakdown Structure) and calculate the progress of project performance systematically Also we construct project management information system for above project management system implementing.

  • KPI, an indicator that measures the performance of factors that contribute to achieving strategies of individuals or organizations, is used a lot to analyze the performance of construction work. Construction work consists of individual construction types with different characteristics such as progress method, scale, and input resources, but currently, KPIs for performance analysis of individual construction types are lacking. Therefore, this study aims to obtain and analyze data for establishing construction performance analysis KPIs during construction work to prepare the basis for the creation of future construction KPIs. Preliminary KPIs for earthwork performance analysis selected through this study are expected to be the basis for deriving preliminary KPIs for other individual construction types.

  • The purpose of this study is to specify a structural relationship among learning goal orientation(LGO), creativity, working smart, working hard, and work performance of salespersons, verify the direct and indirect effect of variables, and examine impacts of the five factors at the same time. Also, this carried out the study to understand the relationship between the salesperson's creativity and work performance. This study targeted for salespersons who were working in various industries and total 588 were participated via on-line. According to the study, the result is as follows. First of all, There are direct effects among LGO, creativity, working smart, and work performance. However, working hard didn't have any direct effect with any other variables. Creativity and working smart have indirect effects on the relationship between LGO and job performance. In addition, the mediating effect of the model with creativity was higher than that of the model without creativity. Therefore, creativity is an individual competency that should be continuously developed to improve the work performance of a salesperson.

  • Performance appraisal system is to evaluate employee' work performance, work ability and work attitude. It becomes a important foundation of personnel management. This system's goal is to accomplish employee ability development. The purpose of this study is to make some contributions in order to efficient performance appraisal system of hotels by analyzing the problems of current performance appraisal system. The suggestions for efficient performance appraisal system are as follows: 1. Performance appraisal by job analysis. 2. Though evaluators' training for objective assessment. 3. The assistance system of appraisal results for employees. 4. Magnifying use of appraisal results. 5. Object management strategy by using self-rating.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting work performance among systems librarians in Korean academic libraries. The factors were divided in three categories: Job characteristics, organizational characteristics, and individual characteristics. Data from questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS for windows. Multiple regression analyses were performed on three sets of variables related to the hypotheses of the study. The result of the analysis Identified the folowing factors : Job characteristics which affect work performance among systems librarians in academic library are autonomy, task significance, skill variety, and feedback from supervision. Organizational characteristics which affect work performance are job security, capability of automation systems, coworkers. Individual characteristics which affect work performance are growth need strength, knowledge, and systems librarian experience.
