Performance of VoIP Traffics over MANETs under DDoS Intrusions (DDoS 침해가 있는 MANET에서 VoIP 트래픽의 성능)

  • In this paper, Transmission performance over MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks) under DDoS Intrusions is evaluated. Intrusion counterplan requirement, which have to be used for MANET under DDoS intrusions, is suggested through this evaluation. VoIP simulator based on NS-2 network simulator is used for performance measurement. MOS, network delay, packet loss rate and call connection rate is measured with this simulation. Finally, requirement of intrusion continuing time shorter then 10 seconds is suggested for VoIP service over MANETs under DDoS intrusions.

  • The damages from DDoS attacks are increasing as DDoS attacks are taking various forms. This has resulted not only in decreased reliability of organizations and corporations but also in the threat of national security. Organizations and corporations are making significant efforts in developing a system through which they can appropriately correspond to DDoS attacks. However, the studies on objective index for evaluating the performance of DDoS correspondence are lacking. The majority of the existing studies have been on the information protection & management system on a large scale. Accordingly, the scope of this thesis will be limited to DDoS correspondence to propose correspondence index for quantitatively measuring and managing them. The statistical techniques such as SMART technique and factor analysis will be utilized accordingly.

  • From the recent, an big issue of the internet attack is DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service). Some government agencies and companies will buy Anti-DDoS SW for protect their their network system form DDoS attack. But We don't have any objective valuation standard of Anti-DDoS SW. So When you try to buy an Anti-DDoS SW, you can get only subjective Anti-DDoS SW information which from Anti-DDoS SW vender. Anti-DDoS SW market is getting bigger, so market needs objective valuation standard of Anti-DDoS SW for a fair evaluation. In this paper, we describe a part of Anti-DDoS SW performance tests in valuation standard of Anti-DDoS SW.

Advanced n based Packet Marking Mechanism for IP Traceback (TTL 기반 패킷 마킹 방식을 적용한 IP 패킷 역추적 기법)

  • Distributed Denial-of-Service(DDoS) attack prevent users from accessing services on the target network by spoofing its origin source address with a large volume of traffic. The objective of IP Traceback is to determine the real attack sources, as well as the full path taken by the attack packets. Existing IP Traceback methods can be categorized as proactive or reactive tracing. Existing PPM based tracing scheme(such as router node appending, sampling and edge sampling) insert traceback information in IP packet header for IP Traceback. But, these schemes did not provide enhanced performance in DDoS attack. In this paper, we propose a 'TTL based advanced Packet Marking' mechanism for IP Traceback. Proposed mechanism can detect and control DDoS traffic on router and can generate marked packet for reconstructing origin DDoS attack source, by which we can diminish network overload and enhance traceback performance.

  • DDoS attacks on MANET makes disable any node which support network function, cause critical results as a stopping of entire network service or separation to some parts. Packet aggregation, which gather some pieces of short length into a certain length of data, improves transmission performances on MANETs. In this paper, some effects on transmission performance of packet aggregation transmission be caused by DDoS Attacks are measured and analyzed in point of end-to-end level. MANET simulator, based on NS-2, is used for measurement end-to-end performances. MOS, connection rate, delay and packet loss rate is used as performance parameters. VoIP traffic is used for object service measurement. Finally, it is suggested that number of packet aggregation is more then 4 for keeping the transmission quality over MANETs under DDoS attacks.

  • 인터넷이 널리 보급되면서 이용자들간에는 편리하고 빠른 정보교환이 가능하게 되었지만 이를 방해하는 해커들의 활동 또한 크게 증가하고 있다. 그 중 DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) 공격은 인터넷 서비스를 하고 있는 서버에 심각한 해를 주며 탐지와 대응이 어려운 해킹방법중의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 DDoS 공격 대응을 위해 액티브 네트워크를 이용해 개발한 DDoS 보안시스템[1][2]을 이용할 때 얼마나 효과적인 성능을 낼 수 있는지에 대한 분석 결과를 제공한다.

  • Packet sampling is the techniques to collect a part of the packets through network and analyze the characteristicsof the traffic for managing the network and keeping security. This paper presents a study on the sampling techniques applied to DDoS traffic and on the characteristics of the sampled traffic to detect DDoS attack efficiently and improve traffic analysis capacity. Three famous sampling techniques are evaluated with different sampling rates on various DDoS traffics. To analyze traffic characteristics, one of the DDoS attack detection method. Traffic Rate Analysis (TRA) is used. Simulation results verify that using sampling techniques preserve the traffic characteristics of DDoS and do not significantly reduce the detection accuracy.

  • Many companies and organizations are building a mobile office environment using the LTE network, the national disaster network and Air Force LTE network are built for public safety and national defense. However the recent threats on information security have been evolving from information leakage to DDoS attacks to neutralize the service. Especially, the type of device such as Smart phones, smart pad, tablet PC, and the numbers are growing exponentially and As performance of mobile device and speed of line develop rapidly, DDoS attacks in the mobile environment is becoming a threat. So far, universal countermeasure to DDoS attacks has been interception the network and server step, Yet problem regarding DDoS attack traffic on mobile network and expenditure of network resources still remains. Therefore, this paper analyzes the traffic type distributed in the private mobile network such as the National Disaster Network, and Air Force LTE network in order to preemptively detect DDoS attacks on terminal step. However, as direct analysis on traffic distributed in the National Disaster Network, and Air Force LTE network is restricted, transmission traffics in Minecraft and uploading video file upload which exhibit similar traffic information are analyzed in time series, thereby verifing its effectiveness through establishment of DDoS attacks standard in mobile network and application that detects and protects DDoS attacks

  • Through the growth of the fifth-generation networks and artificial intelligence technologies, new threats and challenges have appeared to wireless communication system, especially in cybersecurity. And IoT networks are gradually attractive stages for introduction of DDoS attacks due to integral frailer security and resource-constrained nature of IoT devices. This paper emphases on detecting DDoS attack in wireless networks by categorizing inward network packets on the transport layer as either "abnormal" or "normal" using the integration of machine learning algorithms knowledge-based system. In this paper, deep learning algorithms and CNN were autonomously trained for mitigating DDoS attacks. This paper lays importance on misuse based DDOS attacks which comprise TCP SYN-Flood and ICMP flood. The researcher uses CICIDS2017 and NSL-KDD dataset in training and testing the algorithms (model) while the experimentation phase. accuracy score is used to measure the classification performance of the four algorithms. the results display that the 99.93 performance is recorded.
