One of the important trends for condition monitoring in the 21st century is the development of smart sensors that will permit the cost-effective continuous monitoring of key machine equipments. In this study, an integrated in-line oil monitoring sensor assigned for continuous in situ monitoring multiple parameters of oil performance is presented. The sensor estimates oil deterioration based on the information about chemical degradation, total contamination, water content of oil and oil temperature. The oil oxidation is estimated by "chromatic ratio", total contamination is measured by the changes in optical density of oil in three optical wave-bands ('Red', 'Green' and 'Blue') and water content is evaluated as relative saturation of oil by water. In order to evaluate the sensor's effectiveness, the sensor was applied to several used oil samples in steel making industry and the results were compared with those measured by standard test methods.
In this paper, The monitoring system for TV advertisement is implemented using video watermark. The functions of the advertisement monitoring system are monitoring the time, length, and index of the on-air advertisement, saving the log data, and reporting the monitoring result. The performance of the video watermark used in this paper is tested for TV advertisement monitoring. This test includes LAB test and field test. LAB test is done in laboratory environment and field test in actually broadcasting environment. LAB test includes PSNR, distortion measure in image, and the watermark detection rate in the various attack environment such as AD/DA(analog to digital and digital to analog) conversion, noise addition, and MPEG compression. The result of LAB test is good for the TV advertisement monitoring. KOBACO and SBS are participated in the field test. The watermark detection rate is 100% in both the real-time processing and the saved the processing. The average deviation of the watermark detection time is 0.2 second, which is good because the permissible average error is 0.5 second.
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has been attracting numerous research efforts around the world because it targets at monitoring structural conditions and performance to prevent catastrophic failure, and to provide quantitative data for engineers and infrastructure owners to design a reliable and economical asset management strategy. In the past decade, with supports from Australian Research Council (ARC), Cooperative Research Center for Infrastructure and Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM), CSIRO and industry partners, intensive research works have been conducted in the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering, University of Western Australia and Centre for Infrastructural Monitoring and Protection, Curtin University on various techniques of SHM. The researches include the development of hardware, software and various algorithms, such as various signal processing techniques for operational modal analysis, modal analysis toolbox, non-model based methods for assessing the shear connection in composite bridges and identifying the free spanning and supports conditions of pipelines, vibration based structural damage identification and model updating approaches considering uncertainty and noise effects, structural identification under moving loads, guided wave propagation technique for detecting debonding damage, and relative displacement sensors for SHM in composite and steel truss bridges. This paper aims at summarizing and reviewing the recent research advances on SHM of civil infrastructure in Western Australia.

Real-time monitoring is one of the prime necessities in a weapon flight test that is required for the efficient and timely collection of large amounts of high-rate sampled data acquired by an event-trigger. The wireless sensor network is a good candidate to resolve this requirement, especially considering the inhospitable environment of a weapon flight test. In this paper, we propose a priority based multi-channel MAC protocol with CSMA/CA over a single radio for a real-time monitoring of a weapon flight test. Multi-channel transmissions of nodes can improve the network performance in wireless sensor networks. Our proposed MAC protocol has two operation modes: Normal mode and Priority Mode. In the normal mode, the node exploits the normal CSMA/CA mechanism. In the priority mode, the node has one of three grades - Class A, B, and C. The node uses a different CSMA/CA mechanism according to its grade that is determined by a signal level. High grade nodes can exploit more channels and lower backoff exponents than low ones, which allow high grade nodes to obtain more transmission opportunities. In addition, it can guarantee successful transmission of important data generated by high grade nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed MAC exhibits excellent performance in an event-triggered real-time application.
The major goal of nuclear power industries during past 10 years has been increasing reliability and utility capacity factor. But as capacity factors crept upward, it became harder and harder to attain next percentage of improvement. Therefore, other innovative technologies and method are required. The monitoring, diagnostic and prognostic technologies have been applied to the fossil power plants and contributed a lot on improving their reliability and performance. However nuclear industries are still reluctant to apply the technology by several reasons. In this paper, current preventive maintenance status of nuclear power plants and industrial practice of monitoring, diagnostic and prognostic technologies are investigated. In addition, the restriction in the implementation of the technologies to the nuclear power plants are defined. Finally, we suggest appropriate methods of implementing the technology to nuclear industries for improving current reliability and performance.

Method: Data was collected from 153 staff and head nurses working in 4 hospitals in K city. The results were analyzed using mean, SD and spearman correlation for ranking correlation. Result: The most importantly considered interventions were Medication Administration (IV) for pain, Pain Management for Constipation, Intravenous (IV) Insertion for Diarrhea, treatment, Vital Sign Monitoring for Hyperthermia, and Vital Sign Monitoring for Infection risk. The most frequently performed interventions was Medication Administration (IV) for Pain, Fluid Management for Constipation, Intravenous (IV) Insertion for Diarrhea, Vital Sign Monitoring for Hyperthermia, and Vital Sign Monitoring for Infection: Risk for. The rank correlations between importance and performance were highest in Diarrhea and lowest in Constipation. Conclusion: The above findings can be used to develop a nursing information system which can be used to facilitate documenting the nursing process, and a nursing information system developed by this research process will ultimately contribute to identifying nurses contribution to patient health.
A three-dimensional; structural health monitoring; vertical; planar; cross-sample entropy; multiscaleA three-dimensional structural health monitoring (SHM) system based on multiscale entropy (MSE) and multiscale cross-sample entropy (MSCE) is proposed in this paper. The damage condition of a structure is rapidly screened through MSE analysis by measuring the ambient vibration signal on the roof of the structure. Subsequently, the vertical damage location is evaluated by analyzing individual signals on different floors through vertical MSCE analysis. The results are quantified using the vertical damage index (DI). Planar MSCE analysis is applied to detect the damage orientation of damaged floors by analyzing the biaxial signals in four directions on each damaged floor. The results are physically quantified using the planar DI. With progressive vertical and planar analysis methods, the damaged floors and damage locations can be accurately and efficiently diagnosed. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed system, performance evaluation was conducted on a three-dimensional seven-story steel structure. According to the results, the damage condition and elevation were reliably detected. Moreover, the damage location was efficiently quantified by the DI. Average accuracy rates of 93% (vertical) and 91% (planar) were achieved through the proposed DI method. A reference measurement of the current stage can initially launch the SHM system; therefore, structural damage can be reliably detected after major earthquakes.
The Jiangyin Bridge is a suspension bridge with a main span of 1385 m over the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, China. Being the first bridge with a main span exceeding 1 km in Chinese mainland, it had been instrumented with a structural health monitoring (SHM) system when completed in 1999. After operation for several years, it was found with malfunction in sensors and data acquisition units, and insufficient sensors to provide necessary information for structural health evaluation. This study reports the SHM system upgrade project on the Jiangyin Bridge. Although implementations of SHM system have been reported worldwide, few studies are available on the upgrade of SHM system so far. Recognizing this, the upgrade of original SHM system for the bridge is first discussed in detail. Especially, lessons learned from the original SHM system are applied to the design of upgraded SHM system right away. Then, performance assessment of the bridge, including: (i) characterization of temperature profiles and effects; (ii) recognition of wind characteristics and effects; and (iii) identification of modal properties, is carried out by making use of the long-term monitoring data obtained from the upgraded SHM system. Emphasis is placed on the verification of design assumptions and prediction of bridge behavior or extreme responses. The results may provide the baseline for structural health evaluation.

With the help of a small wearable device, patients reside in an isolated village need constant monitoring which may increase access to care and decrease healthcare delivery cost. As the number of patients' requests increases in simultaneously manner, the web service gateway located in the village hall encounters limitations for performing them successfully and concurrently. The gateway based RESTful technology responsible for handling patients' requests attests an internet latency in case a large number of them submit toward the gateway increases. In this paper, we propose the design tasks of the web service gateway for handling concurrency events. In the procedure of designing tasks, concurrency is best understood by employing multiple levels of abstraction. The way that is eminently to accomplish concurrency is to build an object-oriented environment with support for messages passing between concurrent objects. We also investigate the performance of event-driven architecture for building web service gateway using node.js. The experiments results show that server-side JavaScript with Node.js and MongoDB as database is 40% faster than Apache Sling. With Node.js developers can build a high-performance, asynchronous, event-driven healthcare hub server to handle an increasing number of concurrent connections for Remote Healthcare Monitoring System in an isolated village with no access to local medical care.
