  • This study analyzed the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement. The study results showed that performance assessment significantly affected job competency enhancement(p<.001, ${\beta}=.514$). In conclusion, it is suggested that small businesses should consider performance assessment more important and actively include it in training program as generally utilizing off-the-job or on-the-job training method. This study provided implications for analyzing the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement, so it broadened the scope of the study about performance of work and learning ducal system and verified the effectiveness depend on the type of training.

  • Scene text recognition has important application value and attracted the interest of plenty of researchers. At present, many methods have achieved good results, but most of the existing approaches attempt to improve the performance of scene text recognition from the image level. They have a good effect on reading regular scene texts. However, there are still many obstacles to recognizing text on low-quality images such as curved, occlusion, and blur. This exacerbates the difficulty of feature extraction because the image quality is uneven. In addition, the results of model testing are highly dependent on training data, so there is still room for improvement in scene text recognition methods. In this work, we present a natural scene text recognizer to improve the recognition performance from the feature level, which contains feature representation and feature enhancement. In terms of feature representation, we propose an efficient feature extractor combined with Representative Batch Normalization and ResNet. It reduces the dependence of the model on training data and improves the feature representation ability of different instances. In terms of feature enhancement, we use a feature enhancement network to expand the receptive field of feature maps, so that feature maps contain rich feature information. Enhanced feature representation capability helps to improve the recognition performance of the model. We conducted experiments on 7 benchmarks, which shows that this method is highly competitive in recognizing both regular and irregular texts. The method achieved top1 recognition accuracy on four benchmarks of IC03, IC13, IC15, and SVTP.

  • Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the accuracy of preoperative breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and tumor-to-nipple distance (TND) for diagnosing occult nipple-areolar complex (NAC) involvement in breast cancer. Materials and Methods: The MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched for articles published until March 20, 2022, excluding studies of patients with clinically evident NAC involvement or those treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Study quality was assessed using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 tool. Two reviewers independently evaluated studies that reported the diagnostic performance of MRI imaging features such as continuity to the NAC, unilateral NAC enhancement, non-mass enhancement (NME) type, mass size (> 20 mm), and TND. Summary estimates of the sensitivity and specificity curves and the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve of the MRI features for NAC involvement were calculated using random-effects models. We also calculated the TND cutoffs required to achieve predetermined specificity values. Results: Fifteen studies (n = 4002 breast lesions) were analyzed. The pooled sensitivity and specificity (with 95% confidence intervals) for NAC involvement diagnosis were 71% (58-81) and 94% (91-96), respectively, for continuity to the NAC; 58% (45-70) and 97% (95-99), respectively, for unilateral NAC enhancement; 55% (46-64) and 83% (75-88), respectively, for NME type; and 88% (68-96) and 58% (40-75), respectively, for mass size (> 20 mm). TND had an area under the SROC curve of 0.799 for NAC involvement. A TND of 11.5 mm achieved a predetermined specificity of 85% with a sensitivity of 64%, and a TND of 12.3 mm yielded a predetermined specificity of 83% with a sensitivity of 65%. Conclusion: Continuity to the NAC and unilateral NAC enhancement may help predict occult NAC involvement in breast cancer. To achieve the desired diagnostic performance with TND, a suitable cutoff value should be considered.

  • Coverage problem is a research hot spot in directional sensor networks (DSNs). However, the major problem affecting the performance of the current coverage-enhancing strategies is that they just optimize the coverage of networks, but ignore the maximum number of sleep sensors to save more energy. Aiming to find an approximate optimal method that can cover maximum area with minimum number of active sensors, in this paper, a new scheduling algorithm based on learning automata is proposed to enhance area coverage, and shut off redundant sensors as many as possible. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several experiments are conducted. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm have effective performance in terms of coverage enhancement and sleeping sensors compared to the existing algorithms.

  • Experiments have been performed to investigate effects of pulsating cathode flow on a 10-cell proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stack. For all the experiments, the flow rate, temperature and relative humidity of hydrogen at the anode inlet are fixed. The effects of the pulsating frequency, amplitude and flow rate at the cathode inlet on performance of 10-cell PEMFC are examined. The polarization and power curves show that the power output and limiting current is substantially increased when the pulsating component is added to cathode flow channel. The maximum power output increases by up to 38% and enhancement of the overall performance is more pronounced at lower flow rate region.

  • This paper aims at the performance enhancement of tension controller for the yarn manufacturing process. The tension controller is required to keep the tension constant while the yarn is manufactured by a draw and twist machine, which is essential and critical for good quality production of yarn, steel, paper, etc. This paper proposes a linear model of tension control plant to develop a precise tension control system, which is derived by the close observation of the conventional mathematical model of motor driving and tension control systems. It is shown by experiments that the proposed control system precisely maintains the tension constant within the error bound of 0.05% while the conventional PI controller has about 0.2% error. The control performance of the system has been compared to that of conventional PI control not only for constant speed control but also for transient speed control experiments.

  • In real environment, background noise exists everywhere and degrades the performance of system. To reduce this distortion, a speech enhancement algorithm can be very useful and variety methods have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a postfilter to improve the performance of optimally modified log-spectral amplitude (OM-LSA) estimator. Proposed algorithm uses the formant postfilter to minimize perceptual distortion caused by background noise. We adjust an emphasizing parameter which is varied by spectral flatness and first reflection coefficient. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by measuring the log-spectral distance (LSD) and the perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) score. The test results show the improvement of proposed algorithm compared to conventional OM-LSA.

  • The device characteristics and the interface electronic structures of organic light-emitting devices based on /tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum ($Alq_3$) were investigated with Al/NaF cathode. The Al/NaF cathode greatly improved the performance of the device over the Al-only cathode. A series of photoelectron spectroscopy studies on cathode structures including Al/LiF and $Al/CaF_2$ revealed that the performance enhancement originated mainly from the HOMO peak shift upon the fluoride deposition rather than the formation of the gap states

  • Transmit diversity using STBC(Space Time Block Code) provides the same diversity gain as MRRC(Maximal Ratio Receiver Combining), when the fading channel is constant across two consecutive symbols. But, when the channel condition is changed for the two consecutive symbols, the transmit diversity using STBC does not offer good performance due to the large doppler shift. In this paper, we have proposed a interference cancellation scheme for performance enhancement in transmit diversity using STBC over time selective fading channel. Simulation results for various doppler shift rates are presented for the transmit diversity using the proposed scheme.
