Objective: This study aims to investigate the effects of organizational support, risk perception and job satisfaction on safety consciousness in confined space works. Background: Confined space works are rated as hazardous works with high injury frequency and fatalities. But there were few researches for the occupational injury of the confined space workers. Method: Questionnaire survey targeting 236 workers working in confined spaces were carried out to construct the structural equation model on safety consciousness. The participants were all male workers, and they install and maintain or clean facilities mainly in the confined spaces. Results: A structural equation model for safety consciousness was proposed, and validated based on perceived organizational support, risk perception and job satisfaction factors. Perceived 'organizational support' contributed significantly to 'worker's safety consciousness' both directly and indirectly. Also, perceived 'worker's safety consciousness' was also affected by perceived 'job satisfaction' and 'risk perception'. In terms of magnitude of relationships, the direct effect of perceived 'job satisfaction' on 'worker's safety consciousness' was the greatest among the interrelationships among latent factors. Conclusion: Workers' safety consciousness can function as a leading indicator for safety and hazard prevention of workers. Application: The results can be used in developing safety prevention programs for confined space workers.

This study investigates the effect of perceived value on attitude and purchase intention of upcycling fashion goods. The study also examines the effect of perceived value on attitudes according to fashion innovativeness. The qualitative data analysis results from NVivo 10.0 showed that consumers paid attention to the creative design value, environmental value, scarcity value of upcycling fashion goods. Next, 201 effective questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 20.0. The results are as follows. First, there were 5 factor solutions for the perceived value of up-cycling fashion goods: environmental value, creative design value, functional value, emotional value, and self-expression value. Second, environmental value, functional value, and self-expression value positively affected attitude; however, creative design value and emotional value did not affect attitude. Third, attitude positively influenced purchase intention of upcycling fashion goods. Fourth, there was a significant difference in the magnitude of the effect of self-expression value on attitude according to fashion innovativeness. The results of this study provide useful information for marketers or managers interested in upcycling fashion goods.
The speed and magnitude of mobile phone adoption is a recent worldwide phenomenon akin to those of the television in the middle of the 20th century and the Internet in the late 20th century. During the 2000s, mobile phone adoption was exploded and subscriptions reached 3 billion around the globe. Korea and Japan have been ahead of the rest of the world in introducing new handset and service capabilities. They were the first markets to launch 3G services and are currently the only markets to have achieved mainstream adoption of 3G with over one-third of customers in both markets subscribing to 3G services. The purpose of this article is to explore the cultural similarities and differences associated with mobile mail by presenting findings from a cross-cultural comparison of perceptions and uses of the technology. The results of the study are as follows:Of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Korea, a person's perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use attitude. Among the characteristics that make up a person's perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use intention. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. But, of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Japan, a person's perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment were found to have a positive effect on use attitude. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. This study contributes to telecommunications research by delineating the various stimuli to consider for successful technology acceptance in a global setting, which can account for differential impacts across regions. The findings of this study can assist telecommunications operators in formulating an effective region-specific strategy when launching a wireless data service in a particular environment.

Objectives: This is an explanatory correlational study to assess the level of and the relationship of the related factors of health promotion behavior by gender among college students. Methods: Subjects were 950 of the freshmen of the year 2010 at a university in a city adjacent to a metropolis, in S. Korea. Data were collected from the freshmen who understood the purpose of the study and agreed to participate during a freshmen core course using a structured questionnaire. Related factors include active- and passive-self efficacy, internal health locus of control, and social support. Related factors were compared between male and female using t-test and the relationship between the related factors and the health promotion behavior was analyzed separately for each sex, by multiple regression analysis using SPSS 12.0. Results: There were differences in the related factors of BMI between male and female students. They were alcohol behavior and perceived health status among female students while smoking status, alcohol behavior, perceived health status, and BMI among male students. Result from the multiple regression analysis revealed difference in the related factors and in the magnitude of the relationship evaluated by the standardized beta coefficients. Significant factors, listed by the magnitude of beta coefficients, among female were social support, active self efficacy, passive self efficacy, internal health locus of control, and alcohol behavior. Significant factors among male students were social support, active self efficacy, smoking, internal health locus of control, passive self efficacy, and perceived health status. Conclusions: There are gender difference in health promotion behavior and the related factors. The results suggest that the gender differences need to be considered when planning health promotion programs in college. Further research is necessary in order to draw consensus on roles of the related factors of health promotion behavior.
Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone(NHDC) is an intense sweetener with lingering aftertaste, which limits NHDC to use as a sweetener in food products. This study was conducted to examine the changes of teste quality of NHDC when using $\beta$-cyclodextrin($\beta$-CD) as a taste modifier. A series of $\beta$-CD(0.01%, 0.03%, 0.1%, 0.176%) was added to NHDC solution (100ppm) and the taste quality was evaluated by magnitude estimation. It was found that $\beta$-CD produced a significant effect in the reduction of aftertaste of NHDC(p<0.01) and sweetness as well.(p<0.001). Linear regression(log mean magnitude estimate versus $\beta$-CD concentration) analysis showed that the intensity of sweetness(n=-0.31) decreased more rapidly than that of aftertaste(m=-0.17). This result suggests the possibility that $\beta$-CD may form inclusion complex with NHDC, so that the hydrophobic portion is encapsulated in the cavity of $\beta$-CD and the carbohydrate moiety is oriented to the outside of the cavity. Or it may be that $\beta$-CD competes with the NHDC molecule for binding to the taste receptor, resulting in reduced perceived intensity.
This paper presents an experimental study of the factors modulating the urgency perception of voice alarm generated by concatenative synthesizers. Four experiments were conducted using psycho-physical approach in which 105 participants made magnitude estimation for urgency perception of various voice alarm stimuli. Experiment 1 identified 6 acoustic and non-acoustic factors modulating the perceived urgency of synthesized voice alarm. Experiment 2, 3 and 4 quantified the relations between the objective changes in each of the quantifiable parameters and the subjective changes in urgency perception. This research has implications for the design and implementation of synthesized voice alarm systems where urgency mapping is required.

Perception of surfaces from range images plays a key role in 3-D object recognition. Recognition of 3-D objects from range images is performed by matching the perceived surface descriptions with stored object models. The first step of the 3-d object recognition from range images is image segmentation. In this paper, an approach for segmenting 3-D range images into symbolic surface descriptions using spatial Gabor filter is proposed. Since the phase of data has a lot of important information, the phase information with magnitude information can effectively segment the range imagery into regions satisfying a common homogeneity criterion. The phase and magnitude of Gabor filter can represent a unique featur vector at a point of range data. As a result, range images are trnasformed into feature vectors in 3-parameter representation. The methods not only to extract meaningful features but also to classify a patch information from range images is presented.
The purpose of this study was to survey the stressor, frequency of the stressor, level of the stress perceived by children in Korea. The subject were 417 children of 80 second graders, 117 third graders, 111 fourth graders and 109 fifth graders selected from three elementary schools in Pusan(214 male and 203 female). A questionnaire consisting of 70-item stress scale for children and demographic questions was used for mother. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency, ANOVA, and t-test. The major finding of this study were as follows: 1. Events receiving the highest ratings for magnitude of badness were mainly family related (parents separating; gradd parents getting sick/dying; parents getting sick). 2. Events receiving the highest ratings for frequency of occurrence were test, fighting with siblings, being picked on by other kids, staying home alone. 3. There appear signigcant differences for children's perception of stress due to the grade and the socioeconomic status.

The physical characteristics, the absolute detection thresholds, and the perceived magnitudes of mobile device vibrations are briefly summarized, followed introduction to perceptually transparent vibration rendering.
The purpose of this study was to quantitatively investigate the effects of external load upper extremity posture on perceived discomfort. An experiment was conducted for measuring discomfort scores depending upon external loads and upper extremity postures, in which the free modules and numeric estimate method of the magnitude estimation was adopted as a tool for obtaining discomfort ratings. The upper extremity postures were controlled by wrist flexion/extension, elbow foexion, shoulder flexion, and shoulder adduction/abduction. The results showed that all experimental variables except shoulder adduction/abduction were significant at ${\alpha}$=0.01 or 0.05. The effect of external load was very much larger than that of upper extremity postures. Therefore, it is recommended that a new posture classification scheme taking effect of external load to into consideration be developed for quantifying postural load.
