High cycle bending fatigue of socket welded small bore pipe was characterized, and also the fatigue crack initiation of small bore pipe was monitored in situ by the acoustic emission (AE) technique. The STS 316L stainless steel specimens were prepared by gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process having the artificial defect (i.e., lack of penetration) and defect free at the root. The fatigue failure was occurred at the loc for high stress and root for relatively low stress. The crack initiation cycles ($N_i$) was defined to the abrupt increase in AE counts during the fatigue test, and then the cracks were observed by the radiographic test and electron microscope before and after the fatigue crack initiation cycles. The socket welded pipe damaged by bending fatigue was studied regarding the welding defect, failure mode, and crack initiation cycles for the diagnosis and monitoring.
As one of photo dynamic therapies, the existing LED photo irradiation method with 635 nm continuous wave has most frequently been used for acne treatment, it suffered from a low energy efficiency and generation of a large amount of heat in tissues requiring improvement measures. In this thesis, a LED photo irradiation system for acne treatment has been designed using PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) mode to enhance the energy efficiency and prevent thermal destruction in tissues. System configuration consisting largely of timer module, PWM module, and photo transfer device has been designed with the use of 1 W LED at a wavelength of 660 nm for the photo transfer device to increase skin penetration depth for treatment of acne. Frequency and wave form generated by using PWM control was verified along with confirmation of output energy of 660 nm LED and surface temperatures of tissues, followed by evaluation of stable energy outputs and stability of tissues. The results indicated that whereas power loss was high and thermal destruction in tissues was exhibited when C.W mode was used to obtain the optical energy of 1 W LED at a wavelength of 660 nm for acne treatment, realization of PWM mode allowed lowering of power consumption for LED through pulse width modulation, and no occurrence of thermal destruction in tissues, suggesting that PWM mode is safer and more effective for treatment of acne than C.W mode.
Objective: To evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS), fracture mode, wire pull out (WPO) resistance and microleakage between low-shrinking and conventional composites used as a lingual retainer adhesive. Methods: A total of 120 human mandibular incisor teeth, extracted for periodontal reasons, were collected. Sixty of them were separated into two groups. To determine the SBS, either Transbond-LR (3M-Unitek) or Silorane (3M-Espe) was applied to the lingual surface of the teeth by packing the material into standard cylindrical plastic matrices (Ultradent) to simulate the lingual retainer bonding area. To test WPO resistance, 20 samples were prepared for each composite where the wire was embedded in the composite materialand cured. Then tensile stress was applied until failure of the composite occurred. The remaining 60 teeth were divided into two groups and multi-stranded 0.0215-inch diameter wire was bonded with the same composites. Microleakage was evaluated by the dye penetration method. Statistical analyses were performed by Wilcoxon, Pearson chi-square, and Mann-Whitney-U tests at p < 0.05 level. Results: The SBS and WPO results were not statistically significant between the two groups. Significant differences were found between the groups in terms of fracture mode (p < 0.001). Greater percentages of the fractures showed mix type failure (85%) for Silorane and adhesive (60%) for Transbond-LR. Microleakage values were lower in low-shrinking composite than the control and this difference was found to be statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Low-shrinking composite produced sufficient SBS, WPO and microleakage values on the etched enamel surfaces, when used as a lingual retainer composite.

We have attempted to give some physical into the factors that control the response of subsurface target to plane wave excitation at VLF (very low frequency) frequencies. Although the VLF technique has some serious disadvantages, such as a lack of penetration depth and limited frequencies, its advantages are also extremely important to have made it by far the most popular electromagnetic technique in current use. In the magnetic-field measurement mode these lightweight, relatively low-priced tools allow us to survey large areas rapidly and inexpensively, to locate and roughly define subsurface electrical conductors. When used in the electric-field mode the technique is, in simple environments, capable of quantitative interpretation and once again the speed and relative cheapness of these devices makes them a natural 'first electromagnetic tool ' to use in reconnaissance mapping.

Recently, (terahertz ray) applications have emerged as one of the most promising new powerful nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques. In this study, a new T-ray time-domain spectroscopy system was utilized for detecting and evaluating layup effect and flaw in FRP composite laminates. Extensive experimental measurements in reflection and thru-transmission modes were made to map out the T-ray images. Especially this was demonstrated in thick GFRP laminates containing double saw slots. In carbon composites the penetration of terahertz waves is limited to some degree and the detection of flaws is strongly affected by the angle between the electric field(E-field) vector of the terahertz waves and the intervening fiber directions. The artificial defects investigated by terahertz waves were bonded foreign material, simulated disbond and delamination and mechanical impact damage. The effectiveness and limitations of terahertz radiation for the NDE of composites are discussed.

Vulnerability assesses the loss of major performance functions of GCV (Ground Combat Vehicles) when it is hit by enemy's shell. To decide the loss of major functions, it is determined what effects are on the performance of GCV when some components of GCV are failed. M&S (Modeling and Simulation) technology is used to vulnerability assessment. The hydro-pneumatic suspension is used as a sample part. The procedures of vulnerability assessment of the hydro-pneumatic suspension are shown as follows: 1) The components of the suspension are defined, and shot lines are generated evenly around the part. 2) The penetrated components are checked by using the penetration equation. 3) The function model of the suspension is designed by using IDEF0. 4) When the failure of the critical components of the suspension happens, its effect on the function of the suspension can be estimated using DMEA (Damage Mode and Effects Analysis). 5) The diagram of FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) is designed by exploiting DMEA. 6) The damage probability of the suspension is calculated by using FTA and vulnerable area method. In this paper, SLAP (Shot Line Analysis Program) which was developed based on COVART methodology. SLAP calculates the damage probability and visualizes the vulnerable areas of the suspension.
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of four different light curing modes on the marginal leakage of Class V composite resin restoration. Eighty extracted human premolars were used. Wedge-shaped class Y cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of the tooth with high-speed diamond bur without bevel. The cavities were positioned half of the cavity above and half beyond the cemento-enamel junction. The depth, height, and width of the cavity were 2 mm, 3 mm and 2 mm respectively. The specimens were divided into 4 groups of 20 teeth each. All the specimen cavities were treated with Prime & Bond$^{R}$ NT dental adhesive system (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) according to the manufacturer's instructions and cured for 10 seconds except group VI which were cured for 3 seconds. All the cavities were restored with resin composite Spectrum$^{TM}$ TPH A2 (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) in a bulk. Resin composites were light-cured under 4 different modes. A regular intensity group (600 mW/${cm}^2$, group I) was irradiated for 30 s, a low intensity group (300 mW/${cm}^2$, group II) for 60 s and a ultra-high intensity group (1930 mW/${cm}^2$, group IV) for 3 s. A pulse-delay group (group III) was irradiated with 400 mW/${cm}^2$ for 2 s followed by 800 mW/${cm}^2$ for 10 s after 5 minutes delay. The Spectrum$^{TM}$ 800 (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) light-curing units were used for groups I, II and III and Apollo 95E (DMD, U.S.A.) was used for group IV. The composite resin specimens were finished and polished immediately after light curing except group III which were finished and polished during delaying time. Specimens were stored in a physiologic saline solution at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. After thermocycling (500$\times$, 5-55$^{\circ}C$), all teeth were covered with nail varnish up to 0.5 mm from the margins of the restorations, immersed in 37$^{\circ}C$, 2% methylene blue solution for 24 hours, and rinsed with tap water for 24 hours. After embedding in clear resin, the specimens were sectioned with a water-cooled diamond saw (Isomet$^{TM}$, Buehler Co., Lake Bluff, IL, U.S.A.) along the longitudinal axis of the tooth so as to pass the center of the restorations. The cut surfaces were examined under a stereomicroscope (SZ-PT Olympus, Japan) at ${\times}$25 magnification, and the images were captured with a CCD camera (GP-KR222, Panasonic, Japan) and stored in a computer with Studio Grabber program. Dye penetration depth at the restoration/dentin and the restoration/enamel interfaces was measured as a rate of the entire depth of the restoration using a software (Scion image, Scion Corp., U.S.A.) The data were analysed statistically using One-way ANOVA and Tukey's method. The results were as follows : 1. Pulse-Delay group did not show any significant difference in dye penetration rate from other groups at enamel and dentin margins (p>0.05) 2. At dentin margin, ultra-high intensity group showed significantly higher dye penetration rate than both regular intensity group and low intensity group (p<0.05). 3. At enamel margin, there were no statistically significant difference among four groups (p>0.05). 4. Dentin margin showed significantly higher dye penetration rate than enamel margin in all groups (p<0.05).

When reinforcing strip footing on a sand 8round with reticulated root piles, reinforcing effect depends on the length , number, cross sectional area, penetration angle, spacing, and Young's modulus of piles. the mode of action of reinfocement tendons in soil isn't one of carring developed tensile stresses but of anisotropic(uni-directional) reduction or even supression of one normal strain rate. R. H. Bassett and N. C. Last proposed that the reinforcement should be located on the direction of minor strain rate which coincides with the tensile strain rate in the velocity characteristics. Based on this proposal the author carried out a series of 2 - dimentional finite element analysis which varies the parameters mentioned above.
Most publications on friction stir welding describe phenomena or results with given process parameters like feed rate, rotation speed, angle and depth of penetration. But without a complete documentation of tool design, the results under the same process parameters are completely different. For this purpose, the Institute of Cutting and Joining Manufacturing Processes (tff), University of Kassel investigated the influence of tool roughness on the friction stir welding process. Therefore a defined surface finish was produced by turning and die sinking. As basis of comparison the constant parameters were rotation speed, feed rate, tilt angle and a heel plunge depth. Sound butt-welds were produced in aluminium alloy 6082 (AlMgSi1) with 1.5 mm sheet thickness with a turned reference tool with a surface of $Ra=0.575{\mu}m$ in position controlled mode. The surfaces are manufactured from a very fine to a very rough structure, classified by the VDI-classes with differences in the arithmetical mean roughness. It can be demonstrated with the help of temperature measures, that less heat is generated at the surfaces of the shoulder and the pin by the higher roughness due to lower active friction contact surface. This can also be seen in the resulting wormhole defects.
Transmedia storytelling is that a number of contents based on various media platform establish a world, and refereed as newly appeared mode in the age of digital convergence. Transmedia storytelling, each different media organically creates and produce various meaning to create a world, makes alteration in not just only producer's area but also consumer's area. The first property of Transmedia storytelling is joint producing in creation and intelligence collectiveness for enjoyment. The second property is the differentiation of story through crossover and combination, which offer new experience and penetration to consumers. As last property, it is the process of collecting and transpiring story by making relationship to establish that world. Such properties of Transmedia storytelling will act as an analysing base for transmedia contents establishing through various media platform.
