  • Ground response analysis has been conducted for each borehole data in Pohang area, using 1D equivalent linear method program, to investigate the applicability of amplification factor to estimate peak ground acceleration. Earthquake motions for ground response analysis were prepared by matching response spectrums for return period of 500, 1000, and 2400 years suggested by seismic design code (MOIS, 2017). Ground survey data were acquired from Geotechnical Information DB System. It has been confirmed that response spectrum obtained from ground response analysis showed good agreement with those from seismic design code irrespective of ground classification. However, PGA (Peak Ground Accelerations) of ground response analysis did not coincide with PGA calculated using amplification factor suggested by seismic design code.

  • A fully integrated 5-GHz CMOS power amplifier for IEEE 802.11a WLAN applications is implemented using $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. An on-chip transmission-line transformer is used for output matching network and voltage combining. Input balun, inter-stage matching components, output transmission line transformer and RF chokes are fully integrated in the designed amplifier so that no external components are required. The power amplifier occupies a total area of $1.7mm{\times}1.2mm$. At a 3.3-V supply voltage, the amplifier exhibits a 22.6-dBm output 1-dB compression point, 23.8-dBm saturated output power, 25-dB power gain. The measured power added efficiency (PAE) is 20.1 % at max. peak, 18.8% at P1dB. When 54 Mbps/64 QAM OFDM signal is applied, the PA delivers 12dBm of average power at the EVM of -25dB.

  • This paper represents an analog predistortion linearizer for the high power amplifier with low memory effect. The high power amplifier is implemented using a 90-W peak envelope power(PEP) LDMOSFET at 2.14-GHz and an envelope short matching topology is applied at the active ports to minimize the memory effect. The analog predistortion circuit comprises the fundamental path and the cuber and quintic generating circuits, whose amplitudes and phases can be controlled independently. The predistortion circuit is tested for two-tone and wide-band code division multiple access(WCDMA) 4FA signals. For the WCDMA signal, the adjacent channel leakage ratios(ACLRs) at 5 MHz offset are improved by 12.4 dB at average output powers of 36 dBm and 42 dBm.

  • Recently the convergence of healthcare technology is used for daily life healthcare monitoring. Cardiac arrhythmia is presented by the state of the heart irregularity. Abnormal heart's electrical signal pathway or heart's tissue disorder could be the cause of cardiac arrhythmia. Fatal arrhythmia could put patient's life at risk. Therefore arrhythmia detection is very important. Previous studies on the detection of arrhythmia in various ECG analysis and classification methods had been carried out. In this paper, an ECG signal processing techniques to detect abnormal ECG based on DTW minimum accumulation distance through the template matching for normalized data and variable threshold method for ECG R-peak detection. Signal processing techniques able to determine the occurrence of normal ECG and abnormal ECG. Abnormal ECG detection algorithm using DTW minimum accumulation distance method is performed using MITBIH database for performance evaluation. Experiment result shows the average percentage accuracy of using the propose method for Rpeak detection is 99.63 % and abnormal detection is 99.60 %.

  • We have studied the star forming activities and dust properties of Lynds 1251, a dark cloud located at relatively high galactic latitude. Eleven IRAS point sources identified toward Lynds 1251 are discussed. Estimate of stellar masses, and far-infrared lumnosities of the young stars associated with two prominent IRAS point sources imply that these are T-Tauri stars with masses smaller than $0.3 M_\bigodot$. The low dust temperature of 27 K and low ratio of FIR emission to hydrogen column density are probably due to the lack of internal heating sources. Presumably two low mass young stars do not have enough energy to heat up the dust and gas associated. The dust heating is dominated by the interstellar heating source, and the weaker interstellar radiation field can explain the exceptionally low dust temperatures found in Lynds 1251. The estimated dust mass of Lynds 1251 is just $\~1M_\bigodot$, or about 1/1000 of gas mass, which implies that there must be a substantial amount of colder dust. The infrared flux at $100{\mu}m$ is matching well with $^{13}CO$ peak temperature, while the $^{12}CO$ integrated intensity is matching with the boundary of dust emission. Overall, the dust properties of Lynds 1251 is similar to those of normal dark clouds even though it does have star forming activities.

  • This work presents a 77 GHz low noise amplifier(LNA) for automotive radar systems using 65 nm RF CMOS process. The LNA is composed of three stage common source amplifiers and includes transmission line matching networks. To reduce the time for three dimensional EM simulation, we optimize the transmission line impedance matching network using a pre-built EM library. The proposed compact simulation technique is confirmed by measurement results. The peak gain of the LNA is 10 dB at 77 GHz and input/output return losses are below -10 dB around the design frequency.

  • The MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor has 36 bands at 250m, 500m, 1km spatial resolution. However, 500m or 1km MODIS data exhibits a few limitations when low resolution data is applied at small areas that possess complex land cover types. In this study, we produce seven 250m spectral bands by fusing two MODIS 250m bands into five 500m bands. In order to recommend the best fusion method by which one acquires MODIS data, we compare seven fusion methods including the Brovey transform, principle components algorithm (PCA) fusion method, the Gram-Schmidt fusion method, the least mean and variance matching method, the least square fusion method, the discrete wavelet fusion method, and the wavelet-PCA fusion method. Results of the above fusion methods are compared using various evaluation indicators such as correlation, relative difference of mean, relative variation, deviation index, peak signal-to-noise ratio index and universal image quality index, as well as visual interpretation method. Among various fusion methods, the local mean and variance matching method provides the best fusion result for the visual interpretation and the evaluation indicators. The fusion algorithm of 250m MODIS data may be used to effectively improve the accuracy of various MODIS land products.

  • In this paper, we propose the prediction search algorithm for block matching using the temporal/spatial correlation of the video sequence and the renter-biased property of motion vectors The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) value by the predicted motion vector from the same block of the previous frame and the predictor candidate pint in each search region and the predicted motion vector from the neighbour blocks of the current frame. And the searching process after moving the starting point is processed a adaptive search pattern according to the magnitude of motion vector Simulation results show that PSNR(Peak-to-Signal Noise Ratio) values are improved up to the 0.75dB as depend on the video sequences and improved about 0.05∼0.34dB on an average except the FS (Full Search) algorithm.

  • For video compression, we have to consider two performance factors that are the search speed and coded video's quality. In this paper, we propose an enhanced fast block matching algorithm using the spatial correlation of the video sequence and the center-biased characteristic of motion vectors(MV). The proposed algorithm first finds a predicted motion vector from the adjacent macro blocks of the current frame and determines an exact motion vector using the cross pattern and a flat hexagon search pattern. From the performance evaluations, we can see that our algorithm outperforms both the hexagon-based search(HEXBS) and the cross-hexagon search(CHS) algorithms in terms of the search speed and coded video's quality. Using our algorithm, we can improve the search speed by up to 31%, and also increase the PSNR(Peak Signal Noise Ratio) by at most 0.5 dB, thereby improving the video quality.
