A plastic substrate with tiny rectangular pillars less than 100nm is injection molded to study pattern replication in injection molding. The size of the substrate is 50mm ${\times}$ 50mm and 1mm thick. The substrate has 9 patterned areas of which size is 2mm ${\times}$ 2mm respectively. The lengths of the pillars are 50nm, 100nm, 150nm and 200nm and the width and height are 50nm and about 100nm respectively. A pattern master is fabricated by e-beam writing using positive PR(photo resist) and then a nickel stamper replicated from the PR master by nickel electro-plating. Cr is deposited on the PR pattern master before nickel electro-plating as a conducting layer. Using this nickel stamper, several injection molding experiments are done to investigate effects of the injection molding parameters such as mold temperature, injection rate, packing pressure or pattern location on the replication of the patterns under 100nm.

The display module of PDP consists of a pair of fine electrode patterned panels. For example, in case of 42" PDP, thousands of electrode patterns should be placed on panel, where length, width, and height of each pattern m one meter, 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 30${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ respectively. And pitch between patterns is around 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Electrode patterns are frequently damaged during the production process, and thus might be broken. These breakage will result in open-circuited electrical characteristic of a pattern and/or open-circuited electrical characteristic between patterns. Therefore, inspection of pattern defects is the inevitable process to improve production yield rate of the panel. In this paper, we first review several types of PDP pattern defects which affects yield-rate of PDP. And, problems of inspecting such pattern defects by a typical inspection method is addressed. Then, a novel inspection method is proposed to overcome the difficulties, where some new components and the algorithm to detect the electrode defects are explored.ored.
A pattern master and a Ni stamper for 50nm class of patterns are fabricated through e-beam lithography and Ni electroforming process. A model pattern set is designed, which is based on unit patterns of 50nm, 100nm, 150nm and 200nm in length and 50nm in width. The e-beam process is optimized to fabricate designed patterns with some parameters including dose, accelerating voltage, focal distance and developing time. For Ni electroforming to fabricate Ni stamper, a seed layer, a conducting layer, is deposited first on the pattern master fabricated by an e-beam lithography process. Ni, Ti/Ni and Cr are first tested to find optimal seed layer process. Currently the best result is obtained when adopting Cr deposited to be 100nm thick with continuous tilting motion of the master substrate during the deposition process.
This study examined four subjects with close to average body-size values in four stages based on the average BMI value of middle-aged women aged 45 to 59 years. The first experimental pants was developed with two kinds of educational materials pants pattern. After using a clothing-suitability evaluation to identify problems, a pants pattern suitable for the body shape of middle-aged women was developed by modifying and supplementing the initial design. The fit assessment revealed that pattern A had a problem with wrinkles in the hip and thigh areas due to the long crotch length, and pattern B had a short bottom length, which caused the bottom to curl in toward the groin or for the bottom to stick at the hips. The second experimental pants was developed to address these issues and overall satisfaction with the dimensions was higher than for the first educational pattern. The proper front and rear length extensions satisfied movement functionality and appearance requirements, and increasing the gradient of the back centerline-rather than expanding the width of the back crotch-improved the functionality.
This study was to investigate the effects of a functional electrical stimulation (FES) on temporal parameters (stride length, step width and cadence) of gait patterns in a patient with right hemiparesis. A single-subject reversal (ABAB) design was used. The subject was a 25-year-old male who had foot drop and circumduction gait pattern. An ink foot-print method was used to assess the temporal parameters of gait between the baseline phase and the intervention phase. FES was applied at 8 m walkway, three times a week for 5 weeks. The results showed that stride length was increased by 4.04 cm and that step width was decreased by 3.93 cm in the intervention phase. There was no difference in cadence between the baseline phase and intervention phase.
This study reports the discovery of two oxytrichid ciliates, Cyrtohymena primicirrata (Berger and Foissner, 1987) and Oxytricha granulifera Foissner and Adam, 1983, in Jeju Island, Korea. The morphology of the two species was studied using live observation and protargol impregnation. These species are described as follows: Cyrtohymena primicirrata has a body size in live specimens $90-140{\times}40-60{\mu}m$, length : width ratio 2.3 : 1 on average; elongated and slender obovate in outline of body. Cortical granules are shiny yellow on the ventral and dorsal side. Adoral zone of membranelles (AZM) is covering about 48% of the cell with about 38 adoral membranelles. Arrangement of undulating membranes is ordinary Cyrtohymena pattern. Dorsal kineties is six rows with $5{\mu}m$ long bristles. Oxytricha granulifera has a body size in live specimens $90-115{\times}25-38{\mu}m$, length : width ratio 3.31 on average; elongated ellipsoidal in outline of body. Cortical granules are colorless on the ventral and dorsal side. AZM is covering 28% of the cell length in vivo with about 24 adoral membranelles. Arrangement of undulating membranes is Oxytricha pattern. Dorsal kineties is five rows with about $3{\mu}m$ long dorsal bristles.
This study presents the NDE (non-destructive evaluation) technique for detecting the loosened bolts on joint steel structures on the basis of TOF (time of flight) and amplitudes of Lamb waves. Probabilistic neural network (PNN) technique which is an effective tool for pattern classification problem was applied to the damage estimation using PZT induced Lamb waves. Two kinds of damages were introduced by dominant damages (DD) which mean loosened bolts within the Lamb waves beam width and minor damages (MD) which mean loosened bolts out of the Lamb waves beam width. They were investigated for the establishment of the optimal decision boundaries which divide each damage class's region including the intact class. In this study, the applicability of the probabilistic neural networks was identified through the test results for the damage cases within and out of wave beam path. It has been found that the present methods are very efficient and reasonable in predicting the loosened bolts on the joint steel structures probabilistically.
This paper is dedicated to the buckling behaviors of strengthened perforated plates under edge shear loading, which is a typical load pattern of steel plates in civil engineering, especially in plate and box girders. The square plates considered each has a centric circular hole and is simply supported on four edges in the out-of-plane direction. Three types of strengthening stiffeners named ringed stiffener (RS), flat stiffener (FSA and FSB) and strip stiffener (SSA, SSB and SSC) are mainly discussed. The finite element method (FEM) has been employed to analyse the elastic and elasto-plastic buckling behavior of unstrengthened and strengthened perforated plates. Results show that most of the strengthened perforated plates behave higher buckling strengths than the unstrengthened ones, while the enhancements in elastic buckling stress and elasto-plastic ultimate strength are closely related to stiffener types as well as plate geometric parameters including plate slenderness ratio and hole diameter to plate width ratio. The critical slenderness ratios of shear loaded strengthened perforated plates, which determine the practical buckling pattern (i.e., elastic or elasto-plastic buckling) of the plates, are also studied. Based on the contrastive analyses of strengthening efficiency considering the influence of stiffener consumption, the most efficient cutout-strengthening methods for shear loaded perforated square plates with different slenderness ratios and circular hole diameter to plate width ratios are preliminarily identified.
Small RFID tag antenna were fabricated on Si substrate and their physical and electrical properties were evaluated. With decreasing the size of tag antenna on Si substrate, small SMD-type RFID tags could be fabricated, which is very useful for various applications including PCB tracking. Firstly, electromagnetic properties on tag antenna pattern were simulated with HFSS. The setup frequency was 13.56 MHz of HF-band RFID. The line-width and line-gap were modeled in the range of $50{\sim}200{\mu}m$. S parameters, SRF, and Q value were calculated from the model. When the line-width and line-gap were 100 urn and the loop-turn was 10, the SRF was 80 MHz and the Q value was ca. 9. When the microstrip antenna pattern of aluminum was fabricated by using DC sputtering, Vpp of ca. 1.6 V was obtained when the reader-tag distance was 40 mm.
In order to improve the radiation characteristics of the microstrip antenna, microstrip array antenna consisting of one center patch fed by a coaxial probe and several patches directly coupled to the E-plane by microstrip line is analyzed. The equivalent circuit of the array antenna is represented by the conventional transmission line and the various parameters, such as the mdicrostrip line length, the patch length and the feed point location are calculated to improve the radiation pattern for 5-patch array antenna which has the equal patch width. The 5-patch array antenna with the radiation pattern which has low sidelobe level and narrow beam width is fabricated and then the measured results are compared with the computed values and the results of the single patch microstrip antenna too.
