병원 간호사가 지각하는 환자안전문화와 안전간호활동과의 관계 (Relationship between Hospital Nurses' Perceived Patient Safety Culture and Their Safety Care Activities)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to measure hospital nurses' perceived patient safety culture and their safety care activities, and to investigate the relationship between these two factors. Method: This study was a cross-sectional survey. The participants were 301 nurses working at 4 general hospitals, and data collection was done from June 22 to June 30, 2009 by self-administrated questionnaires. Results: With a possible score of 5 points, the average score for nurses' perceived patient safety culture was 3.34, and for their safety care activities, 4.25. There were perceived differences in patient safety culture and safety care activities according to age, position, length of work experience and number of patient safety education sessions attended. All sub-factors in patient safety culture had a positive relationship with safety care activities. Factors influencing nurses' safety care activities were number of patient safety education sessions attended, hospital environment, and supervisor/manager. These factors explained 58.2% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings indicate that patient safety education is very important to improve nurses' safety care activity. So nursing supervisors/ managers should develop strategies encourage patient safety education, and make nurses' working environment safer.

국외 환자대상의 환자안전 교육 사례 (Safety Education Programs for Patients and Families in Overseas Institutions)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to share program and/or resource on patient safety education for patients and families conducted overseas agency. This study will help the patient safety officer establish and implement an educational plan for patients and families. Methods: We searched the Internet for patient safety related organizations. We chose an institution that provided education for patients and families. Results: Most of the program and/or resource was about patient and family involvement; Taking Care of Myself, My Questions for This Visit, Patient Prep Card, 20 Tips to Help Prevent Medical Errors, Ask Me 3(R), Health and Safety Passport, My Medication log etc. Conclusions: It is necessary to distribute educational materials for patients and families in the country through the results of this study. For patient safety, education and publicity are needed so that developed educational materials can be actively used.

점안 지도가 항녹내장 안약의 처방 순응도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Eye Drop Education on Adherence to Glaucoma Medication)

  • Glaucoma is a potentially blinding chronic disease requiring life-long commitment to medical therapy. Failure to adhere to anti-glaucoma treatment may lead to disease progression and visual loss. This study surveyed the adherence to glaucoma eye drop and eye drop instillation technique of glaucoma patients and analyzed the improvement of the adherence and installation technique after patient education for eye drop instillation instructions. Collected responses were statistically analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney test, Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, Spearman's correlation coefficient, or one sample proportion test. The survey after patient education for proper eye drop instillation revealed that, even if the patients experienced the adverse effect of their eyes getting dry, they used the eye drop more regularly. They were better at instillation techniques like putting the eye drop inside the eye, and also avoiding applying too much medication or touching their eye with the eye drop bottle. Also, when the patients were divided into groups based on etiologic division, there was difference among groups regarding which category they answered has improved. The result showed improvement in adherence to glaucoma eye drop and eye drop instillation technique after patient education, implicating that patient education is an important aspect of eye care for glaucoma patient and helps them participate in the proper management.

간호대학생의 환자안전관리활동에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing the Patient Safety Management Activity of Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This purpose of this study was to identify the level of knowledge and attitude of patient safety and patient safety management activity (PSMA) and identify influencing factors of PSMA in nursing students. Methods: The participants were 210 fourth-year nursing students in C and G city. Data were collected with structured questionnaires from October 10 to November 10, 2017. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression with SPSS 21.0 were used. Results: As a result, the level of knowledge of patient safety was 9.05, attitude of patient safety was 4.07, and PSMA was 4.22. The factors influencing PSMA were knowledge and attitude of patient safety. The regression model explained 77% of PSMA. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that a systematic education program considering factors influencing the patient safety management activities of nursing students be developed.

통풍환자에 대한 간호사 주도 환자교육의 효과 (Effects of Nurse-led Patient Education for Gout Patients)

  • 통풍은 관절염뿐만 아니라 심혈관질환 등을 유발하는 만성염증질환이다. 하지만 대부분의 환자들이 단순히 관절질환으로 인식하고 있어 치료에 장애로 작용한다. 이 연구를 통해 간호사 주도의 통풍환자 대상 교육이 환자의 통풍에 대한 인식 개선 및 질병 경과에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였다. 교육전문 간호사가 상급종합병원 류마티스내과 외래에 내원한 환자를 대상으로 통풍에 대한 일대일 교육을 시행하였고 환자의 만족도 및 복약순응도, 혈중 요산치의 변화 정도를 측정하였다. 교육을 받은 환자군의 진료만족도는 대조군에 비해 유의하게 높았으며 두 번째와 세 번째 외래 방문 시에 측정한 복약순응도와 혈중 요산치는 대조군에 비해 교육군에서 유의하게 개선이 되었다. 결론적으로 간호사 주도 환자교육은 진료 만족도 개선 및 질환 경과의 호전에도 도움이 되는 것으로 확인되었다.

간호학생의 환자안전역량 향상을 위한 환자안전교육에 관한 체계적 문헌고찰 (Systematic Review on the Patient Safety Education for the Improvement of Patient Safety Competency of Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 환자안전 관련 교육프로그램의 종류와 구성 내용을 알아보기 위해 체계적 문헌고찰을 실시하였다. PRISMA를 사용하여 체계적으로 연구를 수행하였으며, 연구대상은 간호대학생, 중재방법은 환자안전교육, 결과는 도구를 사용하여 측정한 결과의 수치화된 보고 또는 서술적 보고, 연구유형은 무작위실험설계, 유사실험설계, 단일군 연구설계, 설문조사, 질적연구를 포함하여 수행하였다. Medline, Embases, CINAHL, DBpia, Riss, KISS를 통해 논문을 검색하였다. 검색 결과 총 2,468편의 논문이 검색되었으며, PICO에 따라 자료를 추출한 결과 총 9편의 논문이 분석에 사용되었다. 간호대학생의 환자안전교육의 특성을 교육 방법과 기간, 결과변수 및 측정도구에 따라 분류하였다. 그 결과 환자안전교육은 다양한 주제로 이루어졌으며, 강의식, 임상실습, 실험실, 그리고 시뮬레이션 등을 통해 교육되고 있었다. 교육 기간 또한 다양하였다. 결과변수는 지식, 태도, 기술 여부를 주로 확인하였는데, 이를 측정한 도구는 다양하였다. 간호대학생을 대상으로 환자안전교육은 국내외에서 다양한 주제, 방법, 기간을 통해 이루어지고 있었으므로, 환자안전 역량을 갖춘 간호인력을 배출하기 위해 교육기관과 실무기관에서 일관되고 통합적인 환자안전교육 확립을 위한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.

여성건강간호학의 시뮬레이션 실습교육에서 간호대학생의 환자역할경험의 교육적 효과 (The Educational Effects of the Experience of Nursing Students' Patients Role in the Simulation Practice Education for the Women's Health Nursing)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the educational effect among nursing students who performed the patient role in women's health nursing simulations. Methods: In this exploratory qualitative study, a sample of 31 third- and fourth-grade nursing students who participated in scenario-based patient roles in clinical performance examination of the women's health nursing simulation practice training. Data were collected through focus group interviews. Qualitative data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Three themes emerged from the data analysis. Participants experienced an enhancement of patient-centered nursing competence, deep learning immersion and display of self-regulated learning. The difficulty of performing the patient role contributed additional effects such as the difficulty to perform the patient role in the psychological training environment. Conclusion: It is recommended to utilize nursing students as patients in simulation practice training. On the other hand, the psychological training environment can cause difficulties in performing patient roles, a burden on the role of the patient, and involves the interruption of the role.

  • The tripartite mission of 'academic medicine' is education, research, and patient care. Academic medical centers (AMCs) are carrying out the mission and ultimately aiming to improve the health of people and communities. Globally, AMCs are facing a tremendous financial risk stemming from the changes in health insurance reimbursement plans and a shortage of human resources. Innovative AMCs in the United States are trying to transform their physician-centered, and siloed structure into a patient-centered, and integrated structure. They are also building integrated systems with primary healthcare groups to provide continuous patient care from primary to tertiary levels and making strategic networks based on value-based payment and the patient-centered model. These changes have been proven to improve outcomes of patient care and increase fiscal revenues, which are both crucial in supporting education and research. To address the shortage of human resources, programs are being built to develop newly appointed faculty for the future. AMCs have different approaches to bringing changes into their organizations; however, there is a common emphasis on 'a patient-centered approach,' which helps them set more explicit organizational values and make strategic decisions based on their values. Korean AMCs are facing similar challenges to AMCs in the United States in spite of many differences between the countries' healthcare systems. The innovative efforts of AMCs in the United States to address the challenges will be helpful, well-worked examples for Korean AMCs with similar challenges.

모의 상황을 활용한 환자안전 교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과 (The Development and Effect of the Patient Safety Education Program Using Simulated situation)

  • 최근 의료기관평가 인증에서 환자안전사고에 대한 예방이 강화 되면서 환자안전은 환자를 중심으로 발생하는 의료사고를 관리하여 환자의 안전을 유지하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 모의상황을 활용한 환자안전 교육프로그램을 개발하고, 입원환자에게 적용하여 교육 전, 후에 따른 환자안전에 대한 지식, 수행, 인식도에 미치는 효과를 파악하고자 시도되었다. 또한 프로그램 적용 후 환자안전 교육에 대한 만족도를 파악한다. 연구의 대상자는 서울 소재 D종합병원 병동에 입원한 환자 30명이다. 2019년 4월 15일부터 4월 30일까지 자료수집 하였으며 자료처리 및 분석방법은 SPSS 23.0을 이용하여 빈도, 백분율, paired t-test 로 분석 하였다. 연구 결과, 모의상황을 활용한 환자안전 교육 프로그램이 입원환자의 환자안전에 대한 지식, 수행, 인식도 향상에 모두가 유의하게 나타났다. 임상환경에서 실제상황과 유사한 모의상황을 경험해봄으로써 입원환자에게 환자 안전에 효과적인 교육 방법임이 확인되었다. 따라서 환자안전 교육 프로그램은 환자의 지식 및 수행, 인식도 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 주며, 임상에서 입원 환자의 환자안전 교육 시 교육 프로그램의 기초로 활용될 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.

Effects of Clinical Nursing Simulation by Standardized Patient Instructor on Teaching Effectiveness and Clinical Nursing Performance of Nursing Student

  • This study is quasi-experimental study of nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design which applied simulation nursing education programs by standardized patient instructor to look into the effect on the Teaching Effectiveness and Clinical Nursing Performance of nursing students. There was a significant difference between two groups in the Teaching Effectiveness of the nursing students(t= 3.68, p<0.001). There was a no significant difference between two groups in the Clinical Nursing Performance of the nursing students.(t = 1.724, p = 0.089). The simulation nursing education by standardized patient instructor program can help then relieve the Teaching Efficacy of the nursing students. In addition, it is required to develop an appropriate simulation nursing education by standardized patient instructor program considering level and experience of nursing students.
