  • This study investigates the flow efficiency and temperature based on flow path shape. Five models are designed to the no flow path, one flow path, two flow path, three flow path, add inlet flow path and add interior space gradient. Results show that two flow model(add inlet flow path and add interior space gradient), It was confirmed that model(add inlet flow path) is the optimal shape for coolant heat transfer, and model(add interior space gradient) is the optimal shape for coolant flow, demonstrates optimal design among the five models. The results of this study can be utilized to efficiently control the coolant flow through various types of flow paths.

  • Personal Communication Networks will be composed of ATM-based broadband ISDN in the future. However, unlike the wired networks, many challenges will arise in the wireless communication service such as PCS. These callenges are frequency alteration of cell routing path, relatively very high error rate at transmission over the wireless interface, etc. Particularly, the alteration of cell routing path caused by handoff makes temporary deterioration of QoS. In this paper, the signaling flows of handoff scenarios which may occur on Personal Communication Networks are presented, and verified by Pertri-Net toolkit. In addition, the cell flow control scheme which minimizes the lagging gap between cells and maintains the cell sequence during handoff is proposed. The proposed scheme can be summarized as the differentiation of normal queue and handoff queue, and the cell flow control between these queues. For verification of the proposed scheme, we used two approaches, which are mathermatical manipulation and SLAM simulation.

  • It is essential to construct on efficient material flow system for the successful introduction of automated manufacturing systems. Automated Guided Vehicle System(AGVS) ploys a significant role more and more in modern manufacturing environments, because of the flexibility and the precision they offer. However, as the size and the complexity of systems increase, the problems of dispatching, routing and scheduling of AGVs became complicated due to their independent and asynchronous demands. In this paper, we review relevant papers, and provide a new and more efficient method for partitioning the AGV system by introducing the concept of Central Path. This method named Central Path design has advantages, since each partitioned workstation group is served by one AGV and the material handling between groups is performed by special AGV that is used for the Central Path. Therefore the congestion problems never occur. Furthermore Central Path Design has a high flexibility for alteration and extension of system. Finally, we demonstrate its efficiency using simulation.

  • The turning circle of a ship is the path followed by her center of gravity in making a turn of 360$^{\circ}$degrees or more with helm at constant angle. But generally it means her path traced at full angle of the rudder. For the ordinary ship the bow will be inside and the stern outside this circle. It has been usually understood that the turning circle is not essentinally affected by ship's speed at Froude numbers less than about 0.30. However, it is recently reported that the speed provide considerable effects upon the turning circle in piloting many ships actually at sea. In this paper, the author analyzed what effects the speed could provide on the turning circle theoretically from the viewpoint of ship motions and examined how the alteration of the speed at Froude no. under 0.30 affect the turning circle actually, through experiments of actual ships of a small and large size. The main results were as follows.1. Even though ship's speed at Froude no. under 0.30, the alteration of the speed affects the turning circle considerably.2. When the full ahead speeds at Froude no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3 times slow ahead speeds, the mean rates of increase of the advances, tactical diameters and final diameters of thease ships were about 16%, 21% and 19% respectively.3. When the full ahead speeds at Froued no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3 times slow ahead speed, the mean rate of increase of the turning circle elements of large ships was greater 10% than that of small ships. 4. When the full ahead speeds at Froued no. under 0.30 of small and large ships were increased about 3times slow ahead speeds, the mean rates of increase of the tactical diameter and final diameter of thease ships were greater than that of the advances of thease ships. 5. When only alteration of speed or sip's head turning is the effective action to avoid navigational fixed hagards, reducing the speed is always more advantageous than increasing the speed in order to shorten fore or transverse distance.

  • PURPSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the labio-lingual alterations of the alveolar bone where the implant was placed immediately after tooth extraction. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Implants were placed immediately after tooth extraction on anterior alveolar ridges in the maxilla and mandible. The pinguide system was used to help determine the location and path of implants during the surgical process. The horizontal distance from implants to the outer border of alveolar bone was measured at the rim and middle of the implants in the cone beam computed tomography images. The alteration of alveolar bone was evaluated comparing the horizontal distances measured immediately after surgery and 3 months after surgery. RESULTS. The results show that more resorption occurred towards the labial bone than the lingual bone in the maxilla. A similar amount of labial and lingual bone resorption was observed in the mandible. CONCLUSION. Considering the horizontal alteration of alveolar bone, labio-lingual positioning of the implant towards the lingual bone in the maxilla and at the center of the alveolar ridge in the mandible is recommended when it is placed immediately after tooth extraction.

  • Mobile Ad-hoc Network consists of mobile nodes without immobile base station. In mobile ad-hoc network, network cutting has occurred frequently in node because of energy restriction and frequent transfer of node. Therefore, it requires research for certain techniques that react softly in topology alteration in order to improve reliability of transmission path. This paper proposes path selection techniques to consider mobility of node that respond when search path using AOMDV routing protocol. As applying proposed techniques, We can improve reliability and reduce re-searching number of times caused by path cutting.

  • In the precision point synthesis of mechanisms, it is usually required to solve a system of polynomial equations. With the aid of efficient algorithms such as elimination, it is possible to obtain all the solutions of the equations in the complex domain. But among these solutions only real values can be used fur real mechanisms, while imaginary ones are liable to be discarded. In this article, a method is presented, which leads the imaginary solutions to real domain permitting slight alteration of prescribed positions and eventually increases the number of feasible mechanisms satisfying the desired motion approximately. Two synthesis problems of planar 4-bar path generation and spatial 7-bar motion generation are given to verify the proposed method.

  • The number and structure of synapses are dynamically changed in response to diverse physiological and pathological conditions. Since strength of synaptic transmission is closely related to the synaptic density on a neuron, both synaptogenesis and synapse loss may play important roles in controlling neuronal activity. Thus it is essential to estimate the number of synapses using an accurate quantitative method for better understanding of the numerical alteration of synapses under terrain experimental conditions. We applied physical disector principle to estimating the number of synapses per neuron in the dentate gyrus of adult mice. First, we measured the numerical density of granule cells using the physical disector principle. Second, the density of medial perforant path to granule cell synapses was estimated using the bidirectional physical disector. Then, the volume ratio of molecular layer to granule cell layer was measured. With these numerial values, we successfully calculated the number of synapses per neuron. Individual granule cells have approximately 6500 synapses in the dentate gyrus of adult mice $(6,545{\pm}330)$, which are comparable to those of other researchers. Our results showed that the estimation of synapse numbers per neuron using the physical disector principle would provide accurate and precise information on the numerical alteration of synapses in diverse physiological and pathological conditions. Following analyses of synapse numbers using this method will contribute to the better understanding of structural synaptic plasticity in a variety of experimental animal models.
