  • This paper attempts to analyze spatial determinants of innovative activities at the municipal level in Korea, capitalizing upon spatial econometric techniques. Several spatially weighted matrices will be employed, implying diverse spatial conceptions and interactions. A contribution can be have been made to enhancing an understanding of the spatial interaction and structure of knowledge spillovers in Korea.

China's National Innovation System Reform and Growing Science Industry Linkage

  • In this paper, innovation policies for systems reform in China since the middle 80's are surveyed and its impacts on science industry linkage activities are investigated by looking into (1) technology market, (2) S&T outsourcing activities of firms and (3) co-invention patents by applicants in firms, universities and public research institutions. All of these findings suggest that the role of science sector in China's economic development process has become larger, and double skin problem (separation of science and industry sector) in China's innovation system has been gradually solved by a number of policy actions to facilitate science industry linkages.

  • The study seeks to cooperate with the investigation of a fire investigation based on public-private partnership. Fire protection systems provide a wide variety of viewpoints from the perspectives of design, construction, management, maintenance, maintenance and maintenance systems at a particular point in time, construction, management, and maintenance systems. What is controversial is that there are illegal activities such as illegal activities of the Patent Office, misconduct of construction work and unreasonable construction of construction works.As a theoretical framework, the present study identified the four key elements of a successful disaster response system : responsiveness, control, professionalism, and bias.

  • In the past, markets were taken over by the firms which could maintain their competitive advantage through economies of scale and associated reductions in costs and prices. However, it has been changed to a new time that companies can secure their competitiveness through continuos improvements and customer orientations. Patent holders can claim protection against any infringer of their patents. Thus, in the future, firms' competitiveness will be decided by patents and intellectual property rights. How can strategic patents can be obtained and secured? The purpose of this article is to provide a couple of suggestions that can help companies secure strategic patents and build their competitive advantages. Until now, Korean companies have been interested only in the quantity of patents, not the quality of patents. In addition, from the beginning, they could not build distinctive strategic positions to secure future valuable technologies. In this article, we provided a couple of suggestions for strategic patent identification processes. First, strategic patents should be identified and created based on the company's vision. Second, the company should create technology maps through investigating previous R&D activities and patented technology information before stating its own R&D activities.

The Physical Activity and Smart Health Care of Trend for the Elderly (노인을 위한 신체활동 및 스마트 헬스 케어분야의 경향)

  • The study conducted a systematic analysis through systematic literature to explore trends in physical activities and trends in the elderly and smart health care sector. Based on the research data collected from 2006 to 2017, the research paper was selected as an analysis data base and collected data from the patented patent data registered to the Patent Office. Based on the combination of the aged, physical activities, IT, IoT, and healthcare, the research identified the research trends and subjects through the analysis and analysis of subjects based on a total of 102 academic journals and 79 patents. First of all, the academic research published a surge in 2010 research in 2006, and it has emerged as an area of continuous interest in academia until 2017. Meanwhile, patents for patents soared in 2012, according to the company's patent. Second, research shows that studies are being conducted in five areas of research. Service design, monitoring systems, systems, policies, and other studies. In the case of patents, three types of patents were classified as patents, devices and information related to information. Subsequent studies will be deemed necessary to verify the effectiveness of the smart health care technology to enhance the health of the elderly.

Evaluation of Regional Knowledge Innovation System in China: An Economic Framework Based on Dynamic Slacks-based Approach

  • The paper proposes a knowledge innovation performance model by the dynamic data envelopment analysis with slacks-based measure approach for evaluating the effectiveness of 30 regional knowledge innovation activities in China from 2010 to 2016. In recent years, China has paid more attention to knowledge innovation activities, as central and local governments have pushed on with their innovation projects by lots of investment whatever the difficulties may be. Decision-maker is usually interested in judge its knowledge innovation performance relative to target benchmark by exploring whether one provincial administration region performs better among others and/or if the growth of economy will be benefited greatly by the knowledge innovation activities. To acquire the managerial insight about this issue from a comprehensively designed performance evaluation model, knowledge innovation activity is conceptualized as an intertemporal production process. Invention patent and regional gross product are imposed on desirable outputs, highlighting the need for knowledge economy. The empirical result shows that knowledge innovation has a positive effect on economic development. At the same time, decision-maker should be interest in the economic effect of patents' type and quality. The government should then encourage new technical applications with greater commercial value from a market-oriented perspective, in order to benefit the most from the innovation process in the short-run.

An Empirical Study of the Impact of Professor's Capability on Technology Transfer based on the case of Chonnam National University (교수역량이 기술이전에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증분석: 전남대학교 사례를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the performance of technology transfer of university and professors' capability based on their research activities and performance. For this study, paper citation index, patenting activities, R&D funding scales from public and private sectors separately, careers before and after being professor, scale of research team of 80 professors, who had experienced in technology transfer, were collected. Major result of this research shows that patenting activities rather than paper publishing, R&D funding from private sectors rather than public sectors, and careers after being professor rather than before, are significant factors to affect the performance of university's technology transfer.

Screening of Korean Traditional Medicines and Medicinal Herbs for Antimicrobial Activity Against Pathogenic Bacteria

  • This study screened 76 Korean traditional patent medicines and 58 medicinal herbs for antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria. Among the prescriptions methanol and hot water extracts of Samsoum, Chujunghwang-yont'ang, and Sashinhwan showed antimicrobial activities against E. coli and Chujunghwang-yont'ang showed the strongest antimicrobial activity. Among the medicinal herbs, hot water and methanol extracts of Terminalia chebula, Caesalpinia sappan, and Coptis chinensis showed the strongest antimicrobial activities against Escherichia coli O157, Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella flexnery, Shigella sonnei and Salmonella typhimurium. An interesting characteristic of the traditional medicines such as Samsoum, Chujunghwang-yont'ang, and Sashinhwan was that both methanol and hot water extracts were active. Chujunghwang-yont'ang exhibited the strongest antimicrobial activities against the microorganisms tested. Water and methanol extracts of Terminalia chebula, Caesalpinia sappan, and Coptis chinensis showed the strong of inhibitory effects on the growth of all microorganisms tested.

QI Activities for Promotion of Patient's Satisfaction (환자 만족도 조사를 통한 QI활동의 효과 평가 - 일개 병원을 중심으로 -)

  • Background : Evaluation of patient's satisfaction is one of the most important aspects of quality improvement. If the patient highly satisfies with the medical service provided in the hospital, he/she will be likely to visit the same hospital again. Patient's satisfaction of a particular hospital is directly correlated with hospital profits as well as reputation in the community. For this reason, various kinds of survey measuring satisfaction level have been performed and many kind of QI activities for enhancing the profits as well as reputation in the community. For this reason, various kinds of survey measuring satisfaction level have been performed and many kind of QI activities for enhancing the patient's satisfaction. This study is to find the effect of hospital QI activities on the patent's satisfaction level. Methods: After questionnares were developed, survey of measuring satisfaction level was performed in August, 1998. On the basis of survey results, QI activities were carried out to attain the target point of 4.0 and subsequent survey was done in November, 1998. Results: With three main principles of "problem solving approach with kindness". "helping patient to participate in medical procedure with sufficient information", and "putting employees into practice of attitude with human respect", the average level of satisfaction was enhanced from 3.45 to 3.55 level. Also kindness level of employees was increased from 3.71 to 3.82. Level of dissatisfaction about insufficient explanation and unkind attitude was dropped from 69% to 48% and from 82% to 46% respectively. Conclusion: With the result of this study overall satisfaction level was enhanced. In order to keep these advantages a operation of Quality Improvement Task Force Team in each subject will be required.

A study on invention.intellectual property education content reflection status and needs analysis in secondary vocational education (중등단계 직업교육에서의 발명.지식재산 교육내용 반영 실태 및 요구 분석 연구)

  • This study took existing invention intellectual property related textbooks being utilized in secondary vocational education, analyzed the formation status of 'key learning elements' reflection ratio and drew optimum key learning elements formation ratio by invention intellectual property education content required in secondary vocational education in the future. For this, the study task was set up as 'what kind and how much of invention intellectual property key learning elements are in the invention intellectual property textbook education content now and what is the desirable ratio of each key learning elements in the future'. To resolve this task, 3 specialists analyzed the invention intellectual property education content reflection status and optimum reflection ratio by invention intellectual property education content required in the future is suggested by Delphi survey. The results of this study are as following. First, the result of analysis on invention intellectual property key learning elements included in the invention patent recognition books being utilized in secondary vocational education was that the books included all key learning elements; however, some textbooks have the trend of concentrating in D area (problem-solving activities). Second, the result of analysis on the reflection ratio by invention intellectual property education content area in the invention patent recognition books being utilized in secondary vocational education was that there was the trend in most textbooks that they concentrate in intellectual property creation area; while some textbooks deal with intellectual property protection area and intellectual property utilization area. Regarding by achievement type, knowledge area was main in all textbooks. Meanwhile, function area is dealt in invention patent basic, invention and problem-solving and design textbooks. Attitude area is not dealt or is dealt insufficiently in most textbooks. Third, the optimum reflection ratio of invention intellectual property education key learning elements required in secondary vocational education in the future as obtained by specialists' delphi survey was that it is necessary to decrease D (problem-solving activities) 17.7% area, E(invention fusion knowledge) 2.9% area, K(patent application) 6.9% and L(patent information investigation) area 9.6%. Regarding the optimum reflection ratio of invention intellectual property education content, it is suggested that the invention literacy area 3.1%, intellectual property creation area 4.5% and intellectual property protection area 10.6% would be decreased; while intellectual property utilization area 17.7% would be increased. Regarding optimum reflection ratio of achievement type, it is suggested that knowledge area 52% would be decreased; while function area 32.3% and attitude area 19.6% would be increased.
