  • This paper is based on a comparative analysis of the Korean act subject marks '-에게(한테), -로, -에' and Chinese passive marks '被[$b{\grave{e}}i$]/?[$r{\grave{a}}ng$]/叫[$ji{\grave{a}}o$]/?[$g{\check{e}}i$]'. Each distribution's aspects and characteristics were examined and corresponding relationships were analyzed by comparison of these forms. The method of this comparative analysis focused on three aspects such as tangible characteristics of the two languages, selective restrictions on the 'act subject' or 'passive subject' in the passive expression, and constraints on the use of the act subject (passive) marks in the Korean passive expression by '받다'. In this comparative analysis Korean act subject markers '-에게(한테), -로, -에' and Chinese passive markers '被/?/叫/?' are always as an adverb in passive expression in combination with the act subject. Despite this common point, some differences were revealed relative to the use of the two languages. First, we reveal that the 'act subject' and the conjoined manner follow the passive expression according to characteristics of the two languages. In addition, the act subject marks of Korean passive expressions '에게/한테, -에/로' only serve as an investigative role. They are limited only to [${\pm}animate$] of the act subject. But Chinese passive markers '被/?/叫/?' are often restricted by [${\pm}animate$] of passive subject, existence and non-existence of act subject. In the Korean passive expression by '받다', it is used as act subject marks '에게/한테, -에/로' but the Chinese passive marks are restricted by the meaning of lexical items in a sentence.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop subject of up-to-date scientific technology, according with science museum, and to deviate from the old style, simply-seeing display, and the passive display which simply support narrative styles by one-way action. In addition, for motivating audience to take part in the display, this study is to analyze displaying technique, key marks of an exhibit and then to create the way which science museum should follow in order to plan interactive scenario and display technique. By analysis and consideration of museums, which I took for a sample, this study will work out display scenario, based on interactive concept, and experience display technique. Moreover, this study will suggest alternatives and basis in order to develop display technique of up-to-date science in science museum.

  • Serviceability and durability of the concrete members can be seriously affected by the corrosion of steel rebar. Carbonation front and or chloride ingress can destroy the passive film on rebar and may set the corrosion (oxidation process). Depending on the level of oxidation (expansive corrosion products/rust) damage to the cover concrete takes place in the form of expansion, cracking and spalling or delamination. This makes the concrete unable to develop forces through bond and also become unprotected against further degradation from corrosion; and thus marks the end of service life for corrosion-affected structures. This paper presents an analytical model that predicts the weight loss of steel rebar and the corresponding time from onset of corrosion for the known corrosion rate and thus can be used for the determination of time to cover cracking in corrosion affected RC member. This model uses fully the thick-walled cylinder approach. The gradual crack propagation in radial directions (from inside) is considered when the circumferential tensile stresses at the inner surface of intact concrete have reached the tensile strength of concrete. The analysis is done separately with and without considering the stiffness of reinforcing steel and rust combine along with the assumption of zero residual strength of cracked concrete. The model accounts for the time required for corrosion products to fill a porous zone before they start inducing expansive pressure on the concrete surrounding the steel rebar. The capability of the model to produce the experimental trends is demonstrated by comparing the model's predictions with the results of experimental data published in the literature. The effect of considering the corroded reinforcing steel bar stiffness is demonstrated. A sensitivity analysis has also been carried out to show the influence of the various parameters. It has been found that material properties and their inter-relations significantly influence weight loss of rebar. Time to cover cracking from onset of corrosion for the same weight loss is influenced by corrosion rate and state of oxidation of corrosion product formed. Time to cover cracking from onset of corrosion is useful in making certain decisions pertaining to inspection, repair, rehabilitation, replacement and demolition of RC member/structure in corrosive environment.

  • Packaging takes an extremely important element of optical module cost due primarily to the added complication of alignment between semiconductor devices and optical fiber, and many efforts have been devoted on reducing the cost by eliminating the complicated optical alignment procedures in passive manner. In this study, we fabricated silicon optical benches on which the optical alignments are accomplished passively. To improve the positioning accuracy of a flip-chip bonded LD, we adopted fiducial marks and solder dams which are self-aligned with V-groove etch patterns, and a stand-off to control the height and to improve the heat dissipation of LD. Optical sub-assemblies exhibited an average efficiency of -11.75$\pm$1.75 dB(1$\sigma$) from the LD-to-single mode fiber coupling and an average sensitivity of -35.0$\pm$1.5 dBm from the fiber and photodetector coupling.
