A Design of Passenger Detection and Sharing System(PDSS) to support the Driving ( Decision ) of an Autonomous Vehicles (자율차량의 주행을 보조하기 위한 탑승객 탐지 및 공유 시스템 개발)

  • Currently, an autonomous vehicle studies are working to develop a four-level autonomous vehicle that can cope with emergencies. In order to flexibly respond to an emergency, the autonomous vehicle must move in a direction to minimize the damage, which must be conducted by judging all the states of the road, such as the surrounding pedestrians, road conditions, and surrounding vehicle conditions. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a passenger detection and sharing system to detect the passenger situation inside the autonomous vehicle and share it with V2V to the surrounding vehicles to assist in the operation of the autonomous vehicle. Passenger detection and sharing system improve the weighting method that recognizes passengers in the current vehicle to identify the passenger's position accurately inside the vehicle, and shares the passenger's position of each vehicle with other vehicles around it in case of emergency. So, it can help determine the driving of a vehicle. As a result of the experiment, the body pressure sensor applied to the passenger recognition sub-module showed about 8% higher accuracy than the conventional resonant sensor and about 17% higher than the piezoelectric sensor.

A Study on Roll Characteristics of Railway Vehicle (철도차량 롤 특성에 대한 고찰)

  • The roll characteristic of railway vehicle is an important factor that affects the roll-over of vehicle and lateral ride comfort of passenger. Generally the roll characteristics of railway vehicle is defined by the term of roll-coefficient, s, which represents the ratio of incline or carbody to that of rail-cant. The limit values of roll coefficient recommended in UIC Bre 0.4 for coach without pantograph and 0.15 for vehicle with pantograph. The roll coefficient can be calculated by VAMPIRE that is the well-known commercial software for analysis of dynamic behavior of railway vehicle. The value of roll coefficient is effected by height of gravity center of carbody, stiffness of primary and secondary suspension and etc. The calculated roll-coefficient for electric locomotive and passenger coach is 0.12 and 0.77 respectively, The additional equipment such as anti-roll bar is considered in order to decrease roll-coefficient of passenger coach. In relation to roll characteristics, the analysis for roll-over due to wind is a1so performed. The results show that roll-characteristics affect the roll-over of vehicle.

  • This study is to develop design sensitivity analysis method based on continuum theory for the actual buckling load of vehicle passenger compartment with respect to sizing design variables. For nonlinear structural analysis, both geometric and material nonlinear effects are considered. The total Lagrangian formulation for incremental equilibrium analysis and one-point linear eigenvalue problem for buckling analysis are utilized. Numerical methods are presented to evaluate design sensitivity expressions, using structural analysis results from FEM code. Optical design of vehicle passenger compartment with buckling constraint solved using Gradient projection method.

  • Virtual Seat Method (VSM) is used in this study for a combined evaluation method (objective & subjective) to determine comfort value of passenger vehicle seat in terms of idle vibration. In the study, a process for applying VSM divided into two stages is established. Two kinds of seat mounting passenger vehicle and six subjects are employed to compare the comfort value obtained by VSM method and by SEAT value. As a conclusion, the results by the two methods were well consistent so that VSM is verified as a method to measure ride comfort of seat in terms of idle vibration at passenger vehicle.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the parameters of the mass ratio of the car body and the bogie frame in railway rolling-stock for KT-23 type passenger vehicle. According to the results of simulation and the small scale car test. optimal condition was obtained for the mass ratio of the car body and the bogie frame. Also. it is usefull to improve the technology of the ride quality of passenger vehicle.

  • The styling of passenger car wheels and their effect on vehicle appearance has increased in importance in recent years. The wheel designer has been given the task of insuring that a wheel design meets its engineering objectives without affecting the styling theme. The wheel and tire system is considered as a vehicle component whose dynamic modal information of the tire/wheel system are employed in the modal synthesis model of the vehicle. The Vibration characteristics of a passenger car wheel play an important role to judge a ride comfortability and quality for a passenger car. In this paper, the vibration characteristics of a AI-alloy and steel wheel for passenger car are studied. Natural frequency, damping and mode shape are determined experimentally by frequency response function method. Results show that wheel material property, size and design are parameter for shift of natural frequency and damping.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the parameters of the suspension system in railway rolling-stock for KT-23 type passenger vehicle. According to the results of simulation and the small scale vehicle test. Optimal condition was obtained for the stiffness ratio of the primary spring and secondary spring of the suspension system. When the stiffness ratio was Increased, the vortical vibration was increased on the car body for empty and weight car.   • The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car and bus by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m, there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed. The throw distance of pedestrian by Bus is shorter than that of passenger car and SUV at each impact speed.

  • An urban railway vehicle has a characteristics such as that a lot of passenger use it and the major of passenger is standee. The ride comfort of standee is greatly influenced by the lateral dynamic characteristics of vehicle. So the lateral vibration is important factor for the improvement of ride comfort. In this study, vibration test of railway vehicle is carried out under the same condition of field driving to find out the major factor of vibration. By considering the test results under the various driving condition, the vibrational characteristics of vehicle is verified.
