Method: The study was designed as a descriptive survey and the participants were 1,621 healthy people. Data were collected from March to December, 2003 using a structured questionnaire on health behaviors, health symptoms and physical fitness. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, $\chi^2$-test, t-test, two-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression using SPSS/PC. Results: The result of multiple regression showed that sex, age, and BMI were related to physical fitness. In health-related physical fitness, regular exercise was related to cardiorespiratory endurance and flexibility, and daily caffeine intake was related to muscular endurance. In performance-related physical fitness, having breakfast regularly was related to power, daily caffeine intake was related to agility, and regular lifestyle and health symptoms were related to balance. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study suggests that for better physical fitness, nursing strategies and intervention programs should include physical fitness-related factors, and education programs should be developed based on the above parameters to promote positive perception of physical fitness.

  • This study examine the mediating role of teacher-child relationships on children's effortful control and problem behaviors. Boys and girls were analyzed separately. Participants were 221 children(l21 boys, 100 girls; aged 4-5), their mothers and 19 child care teachers. The teachers completed rating scales to measure the perception of teacher-child relationships and the children's problem behaviors. Children's effortful control was rated by the mother's questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Pearson's correlations, and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results indicated that children's effortful control was negatively related to their problem behaviors. In addition, the associations between children's effortful control and their aggressive behaviors were mediated by conflictual teacher-child relationship. Also, the relation of girl's effortful control and her withdrawal behavior was partially mediated by conflictual teacher-child relationship. Finally, the association between boy's effortful control and his withdrawal behavior was mediated by close teacher-child relationship. Results suggest the importance of teacher-child relationships in the context of intervention planning for preschooler's problem behaviors.

The present study analyzed 2011 data of the Korea Community Health Survey and a total of 229,226 participants was included. To investigate the affecting factors of perceived stress, multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted. There were gender differences in affecting factors of perceived stress by education level, number of family members, household income, and self-care. This suggests that gender differences may exists between perceived stress level and health related quality of life. Further studies are necessary to investigate whether the cause of the gender differences in stress perception.

Methods: The survey was conducted in August 2012 with self-report questionnaire. Participants were 480 registered nurses working in one general hospital. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN(16.0). Results: The average scores were; for affective commitment 2.84, for continuance commitment 2.48, and for normative commitment 2.57. There were significant relationships between affective, continuance, normative commitment and sub-factors of nursing work environment and social support. The affective, continuance, and normative commitment were all influenced by 'staffing and resource adequacy' and 'nursing foundations for quality of care', sub-factors of nursing work environment. Distinctively, affective commitment was influenced by 'staffing and resource adequacy', nurses' age, 'nurse-doctor relations', 'supervisor's emotional support', 'nurse participation in hospital affairs', 'nursing foundations for quality of care', and 'supervisor's informational support', which explained 30.9% of variance in affective commitment(F=31.57, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings show that programs which promote supervisors' emotional and informational support are important to enhance nurses' affective commitment. Also, it is necessary to improve nursing work environment to improve nurses' organizational commitment.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to construct and test a structural equation model of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among hospitalized patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). Methods: Participants were 256 patients with PTB who were 20 years or older and admitted in two national tuberculosis hospitals. The patients participated in pulmonary function testing and responded to structured questionaries. Results: The goodness-of-fit statistics of the final hypothetical model were as follows: ${\chi}^2/df=2.19$, RMSEA=.07, SRMR=.05, GFI=.95, NFI=.95, CFI=.96, TLI=.92, and PCFI=.52. Symptoms and general health perception had significant direct effects, and subjective economic status, social support and stigma had significant indirect effect on HRQoL of hospitalized patients with PTB. These variables explained 64% of variance in the prediction model. Conclusion: Findings suggest that strategies and intervention for physical symptoms and depressive symptoms are crucial to improve the quality of life in hospitalized patients with PTB. The development of various social support programs is also recommended.
