The usual approach for desinging a fast multiplier involves finding a way to quickly add up all the partial products, based on parital product recoding scheme and carry-save addition. This paper describes theoretical medels for area and time complexities of Multibit Reconding Paralle Multiplier (MRPM), which is a generalization of the modified Booth recoding scheme. Based on the proposed models, time performance, hardware requirements and area-time efficiency are analyzed in order to determine optimal recoding size for very large scale integration (VLSI) realization of the MRPM. Some simulation results show that the MRPM with large multiplier and multiplicand size has optimal area-time efficiency at the recoding size of 4-bit.
In order to detect the ultrasonic that is generated by the partial discharge of the heavy electric machinery, a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) was developed. A Michelson type interferometer which employed heterodyne signal process technique was built to measure the frequency and amplitude of vibration. The output signal of the fast photodetector was a frequency modulated signal centered at 40 MHz. The signal from the detector was amplified and downconverted to intermediate frequency centered at 1 MHz after mixing process. The voltage output that was proportional to the velocity of the moving surface(PZT) was obtained using PLL. The spectrum of the FM signal was analyzed and integration method was introduced to obtain amplitude information. This LDV can be used to measure the vibration of MEMS devices, automobiles, HDD and CDP.
Moisture transport in concrete in atmospheric environment was studied in this paper. Based on the simplified formula of the thickness of the adsorbed layer, the pore-size distribution function of cement paste was calculated utilizing the water adsorption isotherms. Taking into consideration of the hysteresis effect in cement paste, the moisture diffusivity of cement paste was obtained by the integration of the pore-size distribution. Concrete is regarded as a two-phase composite with cement paste and aggregate, neglecting the moisture diffusivity of aggregate, then moisture diffusivity of concrete was evaluated using the composite theory. Finally, numerical simulation of humidity response during both wetting and drying process was carried out by the finite difference method of partial differential equation for moisture transport, and the numerical results well capture the trend of the measured data.

In the present numerical simulation of viscous free surface flow around a ship, two-fluids in-compressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the standard $\textsc{k}-\varepsilon$turbulence model are discretized on a regular grid by using a finite volume method. A local level-set method is introduced for capturing the free surface movement and the influence of the viscous layer and dynamic boundary condition of the free surface are implicitly considered. Partial differential equations in the level-set method are discretized with second order ENO scheme and explicit Euler scheme in the space and time integration, respectively. The computational results for the Series-60 model with $C_B=0.6$ show a good agreement with the experimental data, but more validation studies for commercial complicated hull forms are necessary.

In this paper, we consider the problem of parameter estimation, i.e., definding the internal structure of a linear distribution parameter system from its input/output data. First, a linear partial differential equation describing the system is double-integrated with respect to two variables and then transformed into an integral equation. Next the Walsh Operation Matrix for Walsh function and their integration are introduced to transform the integral equation into algebraic simultaneous equations. Finally, we develop an algorithm to estimate the parameters of the linear distributed parameter system from the simple linear algebraic simultaneous equations. It is also shown that our algorithm could be effective in real time data processing since it uses the Fast Walsh Transform.

This paper reviews the Lawson formula which predicts the sound field of a point force in arbitrary motion. The acoustic density was represented by an integral of integrand including the generalized function and its partial derivative at retarded time. After skillful integration, a mathematically exact formula was yielded with some terms which were still remained in need of numerical calculations. The significance of further mathematical progress is discussed in this paper. And also, the adequacy of procedures deriving the far- and near-field terms is investigated from the viewpoint of radiation.
In this study, a numerical method deals with the Chebyshev wavelet collocation and Adomian decomposition methods are proposed for solving Korteweg-de Vries equation. Integration of the Chebyshev wavelets operational matrices is derived. This problem is reduced to a system of non-linear algebraic equations by using their operational matrix. Thus, it becomes easier to solve KdV problem. The error estimation for the Chebyshev wavelet collocation method and ADM is investigated. The proposed method's validity and accuracy are demonstrated by numerical results. When the exact and approximate solutions are compared, for non-linear or linear partial differential equations, the Chebyshev wavelet collocation method is shown to be acceptable, efficient and accurate.
In this paper, an analytical formulation is proposed to predict the vertical vibration response due to the pedestrian walking on a footbridge considering the human-structure interaction, where the footbridge and pedestrian are represented by the Euler beam and linear oscillator model, respectively. The derived coupled equation of motion is a nonlinear fourth-order partial differential equation. An uncoupled solution strategy based on the combined weighted residual and perturbation method) is proposed to reduce the tedious computation, which allows the separate integration between the bridge and pedestrian subsystems. The theoretical study demonstrates that the pedestrian subsystem can be treated as a structural system with added mass, damping, and stiffness. The analysis procedure is then applied to a case study under the conditions of single pedestrian and multi pedestrians, and the results are validated and compared numerically. For convenient vibration design of a footbridge, the simplified peak acceleration formula and the idea of decoupling problem are thus proposed.
