  • In this paper, a new temporal decomposition method is proposed. which takes into consideration not only spectral distortion but also bit rates. The interpolation functions, which are one of necessary parameters for temporal decomposition, are obtained from the training speech corpus. Since the interval between the two targets uniquely defines the interpolation function, the interpolation can be represented without additional information. The locations of the targets are determined by minimizing the bit rates while the maximum spectral distortion maintains below a given threshold. The proposed method has been applied to compressing the LSP coefficients which are widely used as a spectral parameter. The results of the simulation show that an average spectral distortion of about 1.4 dB can be achieved at an average bit rate of about 8 bits/Frame.

  • Deep leaning convolutional neural networks (CNN) have successfully been applied to image super-resolution (SR). Despite their great performances, SR techniques tend to focus on a certain upscale factor when training a particular model. Algorithms for single model multi-scale networks can easily be constructed if images are upscaled prior to input, but sub-pixel convolution upsampling works differently for each scale factor. Recent SR methods employ multi-scale and multi-path learning as a solution. However, this causes unshared parameters and unbalanced parameter distribution across various scale factors. We present a multi-scale single-path upsample module as a solution by exploiting the advantages of sub-pixel convolution and interpolation algorithms. The proposed model employs sub-pixel convolution for the highest scale factor among the learning upscale factors, and then utilize 1-dimension interpolation, compressing the learned features on the channel axis to match the desired output image size. Experiments are performed for the single-path upsample module, and compared to the multi-path upsample module. Based on the experimental results, the proposed algorithm reduces the upsample module's parameters by 24% and presents slightly to better performance compared to the previous algorithm.

  • LSF(Line Spectral Frequency) derived from LPC has known as a very useful transmission parameter of speech signals, for it has a good linear interpolation characteristics and a low spectrum distortion at low bit rates coding. This paper presents that it is possible to extract directly the formant frequencies of speech signals from LSF parameter without application of FFT algorithm by comparing the distribution of LSF parameter with the frequency distribution of analysis filter. This paper suggests the advanced algorithm that results in improving the speed of convergence at analytic solution method. Also, for the flexibility of parameters, the process that transforms from LSF to LPC is presented.

  • In Underwater Flight Vehicle depth control system, the followings must be required. Firstly, It need robust depth control performance which can get over parameter variation, modeling error and disturbance. Secondly, It need no oveshoot phenomenon to avoid colliding with ground surface and obstables. Thirdly, It need continuous control input to reduce the acoustic noise and propulsion energy consumption. Finally, It need effective interpolation method which can reduce the dependency of control parameters on speed. To solve these problems, we propose the Fuzzy-PID depth controller with the control parameter interpolators. Simulation results show the proposed control scheme has robust and accurate performance with continuous control input.

  • Nowadays, CCTV can be come across easily in public institutions, banks, and etc. These CCTV play very important roles for preventing many kinds of crimes and resolving those crime affairs. But in the case of recording image of a specific person far from the CCTV, the original image needs to be enlarged and recovered in order to identify the person more obviously. Interpolation is usually used for the enlargement and recovery of the image in this case. However, it has a certain limitation. As the magnification of enlargement is getting bigger, the quality of the original image can be worse. This paper uses FDP(Facial Definition Parameter) proposed by the MPEG-4 SNHC FBA group and introduces a new algorithm that uses face outline information of the original image based on the FDP, which makes it possible to recover better than the known methods until now.

  • The steady and dynamic process model for an internal reforming molten carbonate fuel cell power plant is discussed in this paper. The dominant thermal and chemical dynamic processes are modeled for the stack module and balance-of-plant, including cathode gas preparation, heat recovery, heat loss (Each heat loss amount for the stack and MBOP is obtained from real plant data) and fuel processing. Based on dynamic model and control demand, PID controllers are designed in the whole system. By applying these controllers we can obtain temperature balance of stack and control system depending on changing steam to carbon ratio, air feed amount, and transient condition.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for general 2D and 3D NURBS interpolation and deals with command generation for 3 axes milling machining, including the feedrate control in order to meet two limitations, a geometrical accuracy and a dynamic restriction. Both of the maximum chordal error and the maximum acceleration specified by machine parameter lead to limit the allowable feedrate on the curvature of NURBS tool path. So, motion commands at every sampling time are continuously generated by those two limitations and programmed feedrate. Simulation results of interpolating several NURBS curves show that proposed NURBS algorithm is favorable in the machining free-form curve

  • A new Rockwell hardness (HRC) model using a volumetric parameter by a least square and fractal interpolation method is suggested. The results are also investigated in comparison to real measured hardness data. For this purpose, the measurement of an indented volume is performed using a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM), and the captured height encoded image (HEI) is used as an original surface for the calculation of the indented volume. After configuring the surface, the constructed volume is calculated and used as an independent variable for HRC hardness modeling. The hardness model is established using an experimental modeling technique involving a least square algorithm and fractal interpolating model, and this suggested model can be used to reliably predict the Rockwell hardness. These techniques can also be applied to the modeling of the Brinnell and Vickers hardnesses using a volumetric variable.

  • For the Large Corpus based TTS the consistency of the speech corpus is very important. It is because the inconsistency of the speech quality in the corpus may result in a distortion at the concatenation point. And because of this inconsistency, large corpus must be tuned repeatedly One of the reasons for the inconsistency of the speech corpus is the different glottal characteristics of the speech sentence in the corpus. In this paper, we adjusted the glottal characteristics of the speech in the corpus to prevent this distortion. And the experimental results are showed.

  • A gain-scheduled autopilot design for a bank-to-turn (BTT) missile is developed by using the Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) optimization technique and a state-space lineal interpolation method. The missile dynamics are brought to a quasilinear parameter varying (quasi-LPV) form. Robust linear control design method is used to obtain state feedback controllers for the LPV systems with exogenous disturbances at the frozen values of the scheduling parameters. Two gam-scheduled controllers for the pitch axis and the yaw/roll axis are constructed by linearly interpolating the robust state-feedback gains. The designed controller is applied to a nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations.
