  • In this paper, the design of Binary FSK Using Cellular Oscillator Network architecture is newly introduced and analyzed. With its easy frequency controllability and MHz range of quadrature signals, the Cellular Oscillator Network can be used in RF communication systems. Binary Frequency Shift Keying can also be implemented through digital loop-path switching. This FSK model is simulated and proved with typical 3V, 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS N-well process parameters.

  • Learning Power Electronics is essential in both electrical and electronic engineering fields and the introductory courses are similar in many universities. Taking this premise into account, an educational computer-aided platform for power electronics will be presented in this paper. This educational platform includes an e-book, a set of power electronics animations, Java simulations, as well as several hands-on training sessions. The main advantages of this platform are twofold. First, all necessary teaching tools are combined on a single platform. And secondly, access to this platform is available free of charge and with no complicated registration requirements. In addition to traditional teaching techniques, the use of this platform has demonstrated an increase in student participation and has consistently improved their academic performance. Data consist of surveys, which guarantee both reliability and validity through psychometric techniques.

  • This paper deals with minimizing layout area of VLSI design. A long wire in a VLSI layout causes delay which can be reduced by using a driver. There can be significant area increase when many drivers are introduced in a layout. This paper describes a method to obtain tight bound on the worst-case increase in area when drivers are introduced along many long wires in a layout. The area occupied by minimum-area embedding for a circuit can depend on the aspect ratio of the bounding rectangle of the layout. This paper presents a separator-based area optimal embeddings for VLSI graphs in rectangles of several aspect ratios.

  • Through the activities of MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group), a number of issues have been identified within the scope of IPMP (Intellectual Property Management and Protection). This paper aims to address parts of them in the aspects of overall structure of MPEG-21 IPMP and to result in increasing the understanding of MPEG standardization works. In particular, this paper will address the major issues such as hooks, interoperability, and authentication architecture. Based on the architectures, this paper will explain how the MPEG-21 IPMP works with its components.

  • In general, contrary to the CRTs with impulsive emission, liquid crystal displays have motion artifacts such as blurring. ghost image, decrease of dynamic CR(contrast ratio), and stroboscopic motion due to hold type driving method. In this paper, to improve motion picture quality of LCDs. impulsive driving method of black data insertion was applied to the OCB mode which is well known for its fast LC response time and wide viewing angle properties. Subject evaluation was carried out with CRT, TN, SIPS(Super IPS). and impulsive driving OCB. Moving picture image quality near CRT was obtained in impulsive OCB driving mode

  • The use of cellulose papers has recently attracted much attention in various device applications owing to their natural advantageous properties of earth's abundance, bio-friendly, large-scale production, and flexibility. Conventional metal oxides with novel structures of nanorods, nanospindles, nanowires and nanobelts are being developed for emerging electronic and chemical sensing applications. In this work, both ZnO (n-type) nanorod arrays (NRAs) and CuO (p-type) nanospindles (NSs) were synthesized on cellulose papers and the p-n junction property was investigated using the electrode of indium tin oxide coated polyethylene terephthalate film. To synthesize ZnO and CuO nanostructures on cellulose paper, a simple and facile hydrothermal method was utilized. First, the CuO NSs were synthesized on cellulose paper by a simple soaking process, yielding the well adhered CuO NSs on cellulose paper. After that, the ZnO NRAs were grown on CuO NSs/cellulose paper via a facile hydrothermal route. The as-grown ZnO/CuO NSs on cellulose paper exhibited good crystalline and optical properties. The fabricated p-n junction device showed the I-V characteristics with a rectifying behaviour.

  • Since the existing quadtree image segmentation methods decide the presence of image information using the maximum and minimum pixel value within an image block, they are very sensitive to noise. Although many image segmentation methods have been researched up to date, they can not execute the optimum image segmentation if noise is included in an image because there is no accurate parameters which can distinguish noise. For that reason, all application using the existing quadtree segmentation has potential of decreasing in performance due to noise. This paper proposed a quadtree image segmentation based on SDT (Standard Deviation Threshold) that can effectively extract image information parameters from a noise image. This method has the advantage of distinguishing the presence of image information even if the image has noises caused by communication. Furthermore, this paper verified through test comparison that the proposed quadtree segmentation could estimate more accurate image information parameters than the existing ones even in noise-added environment.

  • This paper presents a new kind of digital control metal halide lamp electronic ballast. A zero-voltage-switch quasi-square-wave (ZVS-QSW) dual Buck converter is adopted here. In this paper, a digital control method is proposed to achieve ZVS for the converter. This ZVS can be realized during the whole working condition. Single-cycle-peak-current control is proposed to solve the problem of excessive inductor current during a low-frequency reversal transient. Power loop control is also realized and its consistency for different lamps is good. An AVR special microcontroller for a HID ballast is used to raise the control performance, and the low-frequency square-wave control method is adopted to avoid acoustic resonance. A 70W prototype was built in the laboratory. Experimental results show that the electronic ballast works reliably. Furthermore, the efficiency of the ballast can be higher than 92%.
