This study investigated the heat level rating of several varieties of Korean red peppers. The chemical constitution of Korean red pepper samples were as follows: 0.54~290.15 mg% capsaicinoids, 79.22~139.09 ASTA value, and 16.76~29.92% free sugar content. The heat level of the Korean red pepper samples was evaluated by trained panelists and the correlation coefficient and F value (0.001%) of the panelist’s results were determined to be significant. In the principle component analysis (PCA), PC1 (capsaicinoids) and PC2 (free sugar) were shown to represent 31.98% and 25.77% of the total variance, respectively. The results of panelists trained for red pepper heat rating were evaluated using analysis of variance and correlation analysis. The trained panelists showed a high F value (p=0.05) and high correlation coefficient. A high correlation efficient of 0.84~0.93 for the test samples with a 40 Scoville heat unit (32,000 SHU red pepper powder) was reported in the sensory evaluation of the Korean red pepper heat level by a trained panel. However, the panel showed a low correlation efficiency of 0.70 $R^2$ when the 60 SHU test samples were included in the analysis.

As implied by the terms of IT productivity Paradox, measuring the Information technology contribution to economic performance has been one of the challenging issues to both policy makers and business professionals. As such, diverse attempts with sophisticate analyses have been reported in the literature to analyze the effect of IT contributions. In this paper, we follow Growth Accounting Method to measure the IT contribution effect to manufacturing firm's economic performance in Korea. Various regression methods and statistical analyses are applied with fourteen years of industry Panel data. Using the Cobb-Douglas function, time lag analysis is made to understand IT effect to economic growth. Instead of capturing data from individual firm, industry level data from the National Statistics Bureau is used for IT capital, non-IT capital, and so on. Statistical analysis following the panel unit test and Panel co-integration test was performed to reveal the exact effect of IT contribution to economic performance. Empirical testing results for non-stationary nature of IT investment effect are reported as well as IT contribution to manufacturing industry's economic performance.
Reinforced concrete corbels are generally used to transfer loads within a structural system, such as buildings, bridges, and facilities in general. They commonly present low aspect ratio, requiring an accurate model for shear strength prediction in order to promote flexural behavior. The model described here, originally developed for walls, was adapted for corbels. The model is based on a reinforced concrete panel, described by constitutive laws for concrete and steel and applied in a fixed direction. Equilibrium in the orthogonal direction to the shearing force allows for the estimation of the shear stress versus strain response. The original model yielded conservative results with important scatter, thus various modifications were implemented in order to improve strength predictions: 1) recalibration of the strut (crack) direction, capturing the absence of transverse reinforcement and axial load in most corbels, 2) inclusion of main (boundary) reinforcement in the equilibrium equation, capturing its participation in the mechanism, and 3) decrease in aspect ratio by considering the width of the loading plate in the formulation. To analyze the behavior of the theoretical model, a database of 109 specimens available in the literature was collected. The model yielded an average model-to-test shear strength ratio of 0.98 and a coefficient of variation of 0.16, showing also that most test variables are well captured with the model, and providing better results than the original model. The model strength prediction is compared with other models in the literature, resulting in one of the most accurate estimates.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a newly developed retrofitting scheme for masonry-infilled non-ductile RC frames experimentally and by numerical simulation. The technique focuses on modifying the load path and yield mechanism of the infilled frame to enhance the ductility. A vertical gap between the column and the infill panel was strategically introduced so that no shear force is directly transferred to the column. Steel brackets and small vertical steel members were then provided to transfer the interactive forces between the RC frame and the masonry panel. Wire meshes and high-strength mortar were provided in areas with high stress concentration and in the panel to further reduce damage. Cyclic load tests on a large-scale specimen of a single-bay, single-story, masonry-infilled RC frame were carried out. Based on those tests, the retrofitting scheme provided significant improvement, especially in terms of ductility enhancement. All retrofitted specimens clearly exhibited much better performances than those stipulated in building standards for masonry-infilled structures. A macro-scale computer model based on a diagonal-strut concept was also developed for predicting the global behavior of the retrofitted masonry-infilled frames. This proposed model was effectively used to evaluate the global responses of the test specimens with acceptable accuracy, especially in terms of strength, stiffness and damage condition.

In this paper, in order to reduce the electric disaster damage which is caused by with electric equipment of traditional markets, we developed cabinet panel and the electric safety monitoring system which is able to monitor the electrical equipments condition(over current, leakage, arc, WH, electrical fire factor etc.) at traditional markets. We constructed Test-bed for testing reliability of electric safety monitoring system and the actual condition investigation about electrical equipment of traditional market. This paper will be used with the data for an actual demonstration project after reinforcing problems which are occurred to operation of traditional market actual loads.
As a radiant heating panel gets more popularity, the need to study on evaluation method of thermal output of the panel also becomes increasing. Generally, the chamber using method is applied to evaluate the thermal output through an experiment. However, the chamber using method cannot be used due to the limitations on space and cost. EN1264 addresses the test equipment to evaluate the thermal output by using simpler experimental setup, and introduces application method in detail. However, there is not enough description of control methods to meet the experiment condition, and it is difficult to meet this when practical experiment. Therefore, this paper analysed the control error factors of when the thermal output experiment is performed. When EN1264 method is applied to evaluate the thermal output of the radiant floor heating panel, the error factor which is caused by the characteristic of test equipment cannot be removed by the control methods of chamber using method. In addition, the error factor can be occurred at the element which is located out of the control system. These possible error factors are defined as the characteristic error factors.
In order to obtain the objective indices which can assess the quality and the shelf-life of dried squid, nonenzymatic browning, carbonyl value, trimethyl amine (TMA) and trimethyl amine oxide (TMAO) decrease and panel test were determined in dried squid at various water activity levels. When the data of nonenzymatic browning fit a zero order equation, $r^2$ value were more than 0.92 except aw 0.52 for 0.8241. Through variance analysis for the data of browning extent and TMAO decrease, the confidence limits of regression equation were $99\%$ and their limit values of shelf-life were shown 0.45390 O. D./g. solid and 190.322 g/g respectively. In case of TMAO, $r^2$ value was calculated more than 0.95. Linear regression equation for the correlation between browning data and average panel score was Y=0.6138-0.053X and its $r^2$ value was 0.9285. Also in TMAO decrease, the equation was InY=2.0314+0.08269x and $r^2$ value was 0.7854. The shelf-life, evaluated by nonenzymatic browning, TMAO decrease and panel test, was 110-170 days at aw 0.45-0.76 except aw 0.15.
In this study the comparative analysis of four nations' Delphi technological forecasts in information and communication industry was carried out. The nations were Korea, Japan, Germany and France. The reliability test of realization time forecast was also conducted. There were some technologies of which four nations forecast almost same realization time whereas other technologies which four nations showed large variance in forecasting realization time. This means that experts from different nations had different views and prospects on the same technology. It is expected that prospecting international technological trend from this study will contribute to formulating long-range plan for technological development in information and communication in Korea. The result of the comparative analysis of four nations' forecasts in information and communication technology can be summarized as follows. a)As for the realization time, most of the technologies were forecast by four nations to be similar, the differences ranging from one to three years. It was found that on the whole, the longer the time of the forecast, the bigger the variance. The German forecast showed the biggest variance. b)In reliability test Korean was found to be the most reliable and Japan, France and Germany were in descending order. The response of all panel members was found to be more reliable than that of the panel members with high expertise, which means that there were substantially different views among panel members with high expertise on the realization time of the same technology.

This study investigates the causal relationship between public and private external debt and economic growth in developing countries. Our model includes 18 selected Asian developing and transition economies from 1995 thru 2019. We employ the dynamic heterogeneous panel data methods, pooled mean group (PMG), robust cross-sectional augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL), and pairwise panel causality test. The results of PMG and CS-ARDL show the existence of causality between external debt and economic growth both in the short-run and long-run. The pairwise Granger causality test found the bidirectional causal relationship runs from total external debt, public external debt, and private external debt to economic growth and economic growth to external debt. The results showed first the existence of causality in the short-run and long-run between external debt and economic growth and the second, bi-directional causality that runs from external debt to economic growth and economic growth to external debt. Both the dynamic models and robust estimator found the same inferences about the impact of main variables on economic growth in Asian developing and transition economies. The findings of this study suggest to assure debt management, investment in productive sectors, increase domestic savings, decrease external dependency, and focus on international trade.
