  • Electrical resistivity of a rock-sample is dependant on not only formation factor of rock itself but also many parameters such as fluid type, measuring device, temperature, water saturation, electrical contact between electrode and core section, induced polarization, and frequency of electric source. In this study, we attempt to verify various affecting factors in core resistivity measurements and to find a better environment for core resistivity measurement. Particularly great attention has been paid to understanding the effects of temperature, water saturation, contact condition between sample and electrodes, and frequency of electric source. Precise measurement of resistivity can be achieved by utilizing silver paste for better contacts, taping samples for constant moisture contents, and using time-series resistivity data.

  • This study is to examine the transition of employment relations depending on labor reform by U Thein Sein Government(2011~2015) in company level and implemented literature review and interview. The results of this study are as follow. According to contents of the legislative amendment pursued by U Thein Sein government, there were some changes in employment relations as the use of standard labor contract, the application of paid holidays, easy use of vacations/sick leave and the establishment of trade unions. But, after the adoption of the minimum wage system, there was not change in the employment relations to such an extent as to have a significant impact on the live of the laborers. So it is expected that development of the trade union representing laborers in the future is able to take mutually beneficial employment relations.

  • This study was carried out in order to estimate the residual amount of mercury in soy-bean sprouts in each steps of cooking. Samples were taken at markets and also cultured at home without applying the mercury containing pesticides as control. Mercury was determined by dithizone method. It was disclosed that soy-bean sprouts purchased at markets contained $1.32{\pm}0.274ppm$, 13 times as high as the maximal allowable concentration of mercury in food recommeded by Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. Mercury contents, however, dropped off steadily by steps of cooking: rinsed with distilled water and boiled in distilled water showing concentrations of $0.11{\pm}0.025ppm$ in boiled sprouts and $0.03{\pm}0.022ppm$ in sprout-soup. These values were not statistically different from those in control samples, and not exceeded the maximal allowabled levels of mercury in food. It can be concluded that the use of mercury containing pesticides in the cultivation of soy-bean sprouts is not so serious problem as it has been suspected in respect of food contamination, but careful attention must be paid to indiscriminate use of mercury containing pesticides as they may contaminate air, water and soil and secondarily bring harm to human health through food chains.

  • This paper is a part of the series on positron annihilation spectroscopy of two-phase diffuse gas-and-dust aggregates, such as interstellar medium and the young remnants of type II supernovae. The results obtained from prior studies were applied here to detect the relationship between the processes of the annihilation of the K-shell electrons and incident positrons, and the effects of these processes on the optical spectra of their respective atoms. Particular attention was paid to the Doppler broadening of their optical lines. The relationship between the atomic mass of the elements and the Doppler broadening, ${\Delta}{\lambda}_D$ (${\AA}$), of their emission lines as produced in these processes was established. This relationship is also illustrated for isotope sets of light elements, namely $^3_2He$, $^6_3Li$, $^7_3Be$, $^{10}_5B$ and $^{11}_5B$. A direct correlation between the ${\gamma}-line$ luminosity ( $E_{\gamma}=1.022MeV$) and ${\Delta}{\lambda}_D$ (${\AA}$) was proved virtually. Qualitative estimates of the structure of such lines depending on the positron velocity distribution function, f(E), were made. The results are presented in tabular form and can be used to set up the objectives of further studies on active galactic nuclei and young remnants of type II supernovae.

  • Affective computing has gained increasing interest in the recent years with the development of potential applications in Human computer interaction (HCI) and healthcare. Although momentous research has been done on human emotion recognition, however, in comparison to speech and facial expression less attention has been paid to physiological signals. In this paper, Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals from different brain regions were investigated using modified wavelet energy features. For minimization of redundancy and maximization of relevancy among features, mRMR algorithm was deployed significantly. EEG recordings of a publically available "DEAP" database have been used to classify four classes of emotions with Multi class Support Vector Machine. The proposed approach shows significant performance compared to existing algorithms.

  • This study explores the factors associated with the amount of time use in leisure and social gathering activities. The analysis shows that the engaging role types of the youth, for example housekeeping and care giving, or working on the paid job are associated with the amount of time use in leisure activities. However, the factors related to time use in social gathering activities are the engaging role types of youth as well as the socializing opportunity. Compared to the other role types of the youth, the youth who are preparing for a job and is not engaged in employment, education, and training(NEET) spend more time in media leisure, travel and cultural activities, sports and reports activities, however spend less time in social gathering compared to students. The youth who have a job spend the least time in all of the leisure activities except travel and cultural activities for a weekend. Policy should remove the barriers in leisure activities and increase the opportunities for socializing.

  • Though a great amount of chicken by-products are consumed everyday in many countries worldwide, however, no attention has been paid to the investigation of nutritional composition of these by-products. In the present work, the basic information regarding the aspects of nutritional composition of chicken by-products such as; liver, gizzard, heart, lung, crop, small intestines, cecum and duodenum was studied. Our results revealed that the approximate composition range (minimum to maximum) of these by-products was found as such: moisture 76.68-83.23%; fat 0.81-4.53%, protein 10.96-17.70% and calories 983.20-1,426.0 cal/g tissue, in which liver and gizzard had the highest protein content. Liver had higher (p<0.05) vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 contents in comparison to other remaining byproducts. Total saturated fatty acids (SFA), unsaturated fatty acids (UFA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) levels ranged between the by-products from 31.82% to 43.96%, 56.04% to 68.19%, and 18.27% to 32.05%, respectively. Remarkably, all of by-products showed desirable PUFA/SFA ratios. Furthermore, all of chicken by-products, especially liver, contained higher levels of trace elements (e.g., Fe, Mn and Zn) in comparison with those from muscle tissues published in literature. Overall, the study indicated that most of chicken byproducts examined are good sources of essential nutrients and these obtained results will be the useful information to consumers and meat processors.

  • Disasters are subject to occur repeatedly ever year. Disaster relief donations are paid in terms of scale of damage. Empirical studies on this issue have not been substantially implemented, in particular, on perceptions by disaster victims and civil servants of local government. Disaster victims and civil servants of local government are seen as the key groups for the support system of disaster relief donations as the former is actual beneficiaries and the latter is to investigate concerned data on decision making for support system. In the regard, in the study, problems and improving directions for more efficient support system are analysed and suggested based on the survey of perception of disaster victims and civil servants of local government. Conclusion and some policy implications are also included in the concluding section.

  • In recent years, researchers have become increasingly interested in the creation and pedagogical use of English learner corpora. Many studies have shown that learner corpora can not only make a significant contribution to second language acquisition research but also contribute to the construction and evaluation of language tests by advancing our understanding of English learners. So far, however, little attention has been paid to the Korean EFL (English as a foreign language) learners' corpus. The Yonsei English Learner Corpus (YELC 2011) is a specialized, monolingual, and synchronic Korean EFL learner corpus that was developed by Yonsei University from 2011 to 2012. Over 3,000 Korean high school graduates (or equivalents) who were accepted by Yonsei University for their further studies participated in this project. It consists of 6,572 written texts (1,085,828 words) at nine different English proficiency levels. In this paper, we describe its compilation, and more specifically, how we have corpusized from a text archive to a corpus. After introducing the process of corpusization, we report arresting insights into the specific linguistic features that different proficiency levels of Korean learners of English have. This study also discusses the potential use of the YELC 2011 which is now freely available for research purposes.

  • At present trend 3D Printing technology has been using more efficiently than conventional subtractive manufacturing method in various medical fields, in particular this technology superior in saving production time, cost and process than conventional. Especially in orthopedics, an attractive attention has been paid by adopting this technology because of improving operation, operation accuracy, and reducing the patient's pain. Though 3D printing technology has enormous applications still in some hospitals have not been using due to having the problem of technical utilization of hardware, software & chiefly financial availability and etc. In order to solve these problems by reducing the cost and time, we have used CT images in pre-operative planning by directly making the pelvic fracture model with open source DICOM viewer and STL file conversion program, assembly 3D printer of FDM wire additive manufacturing. After having the customized bone model of six patients who underwent unstable pelvic fracture surgery, we have operated our system in orthopedic section of University Hospital through the clinician. Later, we have received better reviews and comments on utilization availability, results, and precision and now our system considered to be useful in surgical planning.
