VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network), which is a technology to create a network among vehicles, decides the route to the destination using information of neighbors within the transmission range as transmission nodes. The existing routing protocol which uses geographical information can cause delay and disconnection of the network when the density of nodes is not high enough to communicate because it only considers the distance of the relay nodes or destination nodes from the source nodes. To solve the problem, this dissertation suggests a routing algorithm based on zones for stable communications among vehicles in the environment of VANET. I minimize the packet loss rate by dividing the city environment into zones and taking into account not only the distance of the destination but also the density of vehicles to choose the best communications environment. This results in a better performance than the established research when the performance evaluation is implemented.

WiMedia UWB technology is a fully distributed data communication technology developed for the application demanding a high data transmission rate in the wireless PAN area. In general, devices can send data either by reserving time slots or by using prioritized CSMA/CA. If the PCA protocol of prioritized CSMA/CA is used, they are suffered congestion as the number of devices increases. In this paper, we propose a Deterministic Access Protocol(DAP) in WiMedia WPANs. A DAP is a method to transmit data in the non-reserved DRP period without competition as each device informs the beacon order information in the beacon period and the queue information. In addition, the problem that the devices with a lower beacon slot number have more transmission opportunities is addressed by introducing the reference point. Simulation results are given to demonstrate that a DAP can improve the throughput and reduce the packet loss rate.
Next-generation mobile communication systems evolve in the form of high speed data transmission along with integration of wired-wireless network. Therefore, it needs researches on integrating service to heterogeneous networks to offer high speed data transmission and various services while supporting user mobility. In existing studies, heterogeneous networks are linked to single core network separatively, Since vertical handoff between heterogeneous networks leads to some delay, packets may be lost during vertical handoff. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an hierarchically integrated network architecture considering the characteristics of CDMA2000, WiBro, and WLAN. The hierarchically integrated networks are overlaid according to coverage of each network. Therefore, the proposed architecture can minimize handoff delay and packet loss. In addition, this paper proposes an integrated framework for next generation mobile communication networks.

Recently, the applications of Internet of Things (IoTs) are growing rapidly. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) becomes an emerging technology to provide the low power wireless connectivity for IoTs. The IPv6 over low-power wireless personal area networks (6LoWPAN) has been proposed by IETF, which gives each WSN device an IPv6 address to connect with the Internet. The transmission congestion in IoTs could be a problem when a large numbers of sensors are deployed in the field. Therefore, it is important to consider whether the WSN devices have be completely integrated into the Internet with proper quality of service (QoS) requirements. The Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new architecture of network decoupling the data and control planes, and using the logical centralized control to manage the forwarding issues in large-scale networks. In this research, the SDN-based 6LoWPAN Border Router (6LBR) is proposed to integrate the transmission from WSNs to Internet. The proposed SDN-based 6LBR communicating between WSNs and the Internet will bring forward the requirements of end-to-end QoS with bandwidth guarantee. Based on our experimental results, we have observed that the selected 6LoWPAN traffic flows achieve lower packet loss rate in the Internet. Therefore, the 6LoWPAN traffic flows classified by SDN-based 6LBR can be reserved for the required bandwidth in the Internet to meet the QoS requirements.
When we want to transfer video streaming data through computer networks, we will have to be allocated a larger bandwidth compared to a general application. In general, it causes a serious network overload inevitably due to the limited bandwidth. In this paper, in order to resolve the problem, we haute taken a method for transmitting video streaming data using RTP and RTCP. With RR(Receiver Report) packet in RTCP we will test it to check whether the traffic in a network has occurred or not. If it happened, we haute tried to reduce the overall network traffic by dynamically changing the quantization factor of the Motion JPEG that is one of the encoding styles in JMF. When the ratio of the average of transmission for each session to the average of overall transmission is greater than 7%, we should adjust the amount of data to be transmitted for each session to reach the session mean values. The experimental results show that the proposed method taken here reduces the overload effectively and therefore improves the efficiency for transmitting video streaming data.
MANET is a network composed itself because mobile nodes are connected wirelessly. It has been applied to various fields for group communication. However, the dynamic topology by the movement of the nodes causes routing failure frequently because it is difficult to maintain the position information of the nodes participating in the group communication. Also, it has a problem that network performance is decreased due to high overhead for managing information of member nodes. In this paper, we propose a multicast technique using location-based 2-tier virtual group that is flexible and reliable in management of member nodes. The network is composed of cellular zones and the virtual group is constructed using the location information of the nodes in the proposed technique. The virtual group management node is selected to minimize the overhead of location information management for member nodes in the virtual group. In order to improve the reliability for management of member nodes and multicast data transmission, it excludes the gateway node with low transfer rate when setting the route after the packet transmission rate of the member nodes is measured. The excellent performance of the proposed technique can be confirmed through comparative experiments with AMroute method and PAST-DM method.

In this paper, we designed a TCP/IP based ring buffer system that can stably transfer bulk data streams in the unstable network environments. In the scheme we proposed, The observation data stream generated and output by each radio observatory's backend system as a UDP frame is stored as a UDP packet in a large capacity ring buffer via a socket buffer in the client system. Thereafter, for stable transmission to the remote destination, the packets are processed in TCP and transmitted to the socket buffer of server system in the correlation center, which packets are stored in a large capacity ring buffer if there is no problem with the packets. In case of errors such as loss, duplication, and out of order delivery, the packets are retransmitted through TCP flow control, and we guaranteed that the reliability of data arriving at the correlation center. When congestion avoidance occurs due to network performance instability, we also suggest that performance degradation can be minimized by applying parallel streams.
A wireless access point is used for all communications in the infrastructure mode wireless home networking, including communication between mobile nodes in the same service area. When a mobile station in the infrastructure mode wireless home networking moves into a dead zone, the communication between the mobile station and the access point is disconnected. To solve this problem, the existing wireless home network platforms focus on the ad hoc mode wireless home networking. However, the performance of an ad hoc network is poorly decreased when the number of mobile participating in the ad hoc network increases. In addition, although the ad hoc routing technique is necessary to support seamless communication of mobile nodes, the existing routing protocols, such as AODV and DSR, do not consider that a wireless channel state could affect performance significantly. Therefore, we propose a wireless home networking platform based on the ESCOD (End-to-end Seamless multi-hop COnnection based on Dual network mode) technique incorporating the VLR (Virtual Link Routing) scheme that supports end-to-end seamless connections. Extensive experiments show that the proposed wireless home networking platform incorporating the VLR scheme outperforms wireless home networking platforms based on the AODV and the DSR routing protocols respectively in terms of low packet transmission failure rate, fast packet transmission time, high TCP performance, and a wider coverage area of wireless home networks.

The HCCA reserves the channel resources based on the mean data rate in IEEE 802.11e. It may cause either the waste of channel resource or the increase of transmission delay at MAC layer if the frame size is rapidly varied when a compressed mode video codec such as MPEG video is used. To solve these problems, it is developed that the packet scheduler allocates the wireless resource adaptation by according to the packet size. However, it is difficult to perform the admission control because of the difficulty with calculating the available resources. In this paper, we propose a CAC mechanism to solve the problem that may not satisfy the QoS by increasing traffic load in case of using EDCA. Especially, the proposed CAC mechanism calculates the EB of TSs using the traffic information transmitted by the application layer and the number of average transmission according to the wireless channel environment, and then determines the admission of the TS based on the EB. According to the simulation results of the proposed CAC mechanism, it admitted the TSs under the loads which are satisfied within the delay bound. Therefore, the proposed mechanism guarantees QoS of streaming services effectively.

PACS is a medical system for digital medical images, and PACS expand to web-based service using public network, DICOM files should be protected from the man-in-the-middle attack because they have personal medical record. To solve the problem, we designed flexible secure transmission system using IPSec and adopted to a web-based three-dimensional medical image system. And next, we performed the performance evaluation changing integrity and encryption algorithm using DICOM volume dataset. At that time, combinations of the algorithm was 'DES-MD5', 'DES-SHA1', '3DES-MD5', and '3DES-SHA1, and the experiment was performed on our test-bed. In experimental result, the overall performance was affected by encryption algorithms than integrity algorithms, DES was approximately 50% of throughput degradation and 3DES was about to 65% of throughput degradation. Also when DICOM volume dataset was transmitted using secure transmission system, the network performance degradation had shown because of increased packet overhead. As a result, server and network performance degradation occurs for secure transmission system by ensuring the secure exchange of messages. Thus, if the secure transmission system adopted to the medical images that should be protected, it could solve server performance gradation and compose secure web PACS.
