  • In this paper, we propose packet selection and significance based interval allocation algorithm for real-time streaming service. In real-time streaming of inter-frame (and layer) coded video, minimizing packet loss does not imply maximizing QoS. It is true that packet loss adversely affects the QoS but one single packet can have more impact than several other packets. We exploit the fact that the significance of each packet loss is different from the frame type it belongs to and its position within GoP. Using packet dependency and PSNR degradation value imposed on the video from the corresponding packet loss, we find each packet's significance value. Based on the packet significance, the proposed algorithm determines which packets to send and when to send them. The proposed algorithm is tested using publicly available MPEG-4 video traces. Our scheduling algorithm brings significant improvement on user perceivable QoS. We foresee that the proposed algorithm manifests itself in last mile connection of the network where intervals between successive packets from the source and to the destination are well preserved.

  • The rapid growth of UnderWater Acoustic Sensor Networks (UW-ASNs) has led researchers to enhance underwater MAC protocols against limitations existing in underwater environment. We propose the customized robust real-time packet inspection mechanism with addressing the problem of the search for the data packet loss and network performance quality analysis in UW-ASNs, and describe our experiences using this approach. The goal of this work is to provide a framework to assess the network real-time performance quality. We propose a customized and adaptive mechanism to detect, monitor and analyze the data packets according to the MAC protocol standards in UW-ASNs. The packet analyzing method and software we propose is easy to implement, maintain, update and enhance. We take input stream as real data packets from sniffer node in capture mode and perform fully analysis. We were interested in developing software and hardware designed tool with the same capabilities which almost all terrestrial network packet sniffers have. Experimental results confirm that the best way to achieve maximum performance requires the most adaptive algorithm. In this paper, we present and offer the proposed packet analyzer, which can be effectively used for implementing underwater MAC protocols.

  • Even though algorithm of intrusion detection is superior to other algorithm in intrusion detection system, it is supposed that captured packet happened hostly lead to lose packet in system architecture when a buffer is full. If packet lost concerned to be hacked, it might impact to system all over. In this paper, try to focus on performance improvement of detection system. Buffer with threshold value could classify normal packet and hacked packet. The buffer accept normal packet and supposed to be hacked packet until critical value. When buffer reached at threshold value, destroyed packet is only normal packet. Proposed method can complement weakness that bypass hacked packet.

  • The advance of computer and communication technologies enables the embedded systems to be equipped with the network communication interfaces. Their appearance in network leads to security issues on the embedded systems. An easy way to overcome the security problem is to adopt the packet filter that is implemented in the general computer systems. However, general packet filters designed for host computers are not suitable to embedded systems because of their complexity. In this paper, we propose a lightweight packet filter for embedded systems. The lightweight packet filter is implemented in the kernel code. And we have installed a Web-GUI interface for user to easily set the filtering policies at remote space. The experimental results show that the proposed packet filter decreases the packet delivery time compared to the packet filter designed for host computers and it is comparable to the systems without packet filter.

  • MPLS stands for “Multi-protocol Label Switching”. It's a layer 3 switching technology aimed at greatly improving the packet forwarding performance of the backbone routers in the Internet or other large networks. We compare the performance of unlabeled IP traffic and labeled IP traffic. In this paper, by varying the packet rate and measuring throughput of the flows we analyze the performance of labeled IP packet traffic and unlabeled IP packet traffic in IP over MPLS.

  • This paper has studied the WAP packet transmission time, using WTP SAR algorithm. One method that is improved transfer ability, SAR fragmented WTP total message down from upper layer and then packet is transmitted to RLP frame time slot. In this paper, we analysis the transmission time of WAP packet with variable HLP layer size on the CDMA wireless channel for next generation systems as well as PCS, DCS. From the results, we can obtain the WAP packet transmission time and optimal WTP packet size.

  • The Internet is a packet switched network which offers best-effort service, but current IP network provide enhanced services such Quality of Services, Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, Distribute Firewall and IP Security Gateways. All such services need packet classification for determining the flow. The problem is performing scalable packet classification at wire speeds even as rule databases increase in size. Therefore, this research offer packet classification algorithm that increase classifier performance when working with enlarge rules database by rearrange rule structure into Bitmap Intersection Lookup (BIL) tables. It will use packet's header field for looking up BIL tables and take the result with intersection operation by logical AND. This approach will use simple algorithm and rule structure, it make classifier have high search speed and fast updates.

  • In the VANET, density is a most important factor for reception rate of packet. So, we have to find solutions to reduce packet collision. There are two approaches. First, packet collision avoid by controlling transmission interval. Second, packet collision avoid by controlling transmission power. In this paper, we propose a simple method to reduce a packet collision by controlling transmission power. It uses the number of neighbors and adaptive controlling method. This method have better performance about packet reception rate.

  • Recently, mobile traffic has increased tremendously due to the deployment of smart devices such as smartphones and smart tablets. Android is the world's most powerful mobile platform in smartphone. The Android operating system provide seamless access to many applications and access to the Internet. It would involve network packet sharing communicated over the network. Network packet contains a lot of useful information about network activity that can be used as a description of the general network behaviours. To study what is the behaviours of the network packet, an effective tools such as network packet analyzers software used by network administrators to capture and analyze the network information. In this research, more understanding about network information in live network packet captured from Android smartphone is the target and identify the best network analyzer software.
