  • The crystal structure of (1,3,6,9,11,14-hexaazatricycol[12.2.1.$1^{6,9}$]octadecane)copper(Ⅱ) perchlorate, Cu($C_{12}H_{26}N_6$)$(ClO_4)_2$, has been determined by the X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal data are as follows: Mr=516.9, triclinic, ${\alpha}=8.572\;(2)$, b=8.499 (3), c=15.204 (3) ${\AA}$, ${\alpha}=80.42\;(5),\;{\beta}=73.57\;(3),\;{\gamma}=69.82\;(4)^{\circ},\;V=994.2\;{\AA}^3,\;D_C=1.726\;gcm^{-3}$, space group $P{\tilde{1}},\;Z=2,\;{\mu}=21.27\;cm^{-1}&, F(000)=534 and T=297 K. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods to and R value of 0.081 for 1608 observed reflections measured with graphite-mono-chromated Mo Ka radiation on a diffractometer. There are two independent complexes in the unit cell. The two copper ions lie at the special positions (1/2, 0, 0) and (0, 1/2, 1/2)and each complex possesses crystallographic center of symmetry. Each Cu ion is coordinated to four nitrogen donors if the hexaazamacrotricyclic ligand and weakly interacts with two oxygen atoms of the perchlorate ions to form a tetragonally distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The Cu_N (sec), Cu_N(tert) and Cu_O coordination distances are 1.985 (14), 2.055 (14) and 2.757 (13) ${\AA}$ for the complex A and 1.996 (10), 2.040 (11) and 2.660 (13) ${\AA}$ for the complex B, respectively. The macrocycles in the two independent cations assume a similar conformation with the average r.m.s. deviation of 0.073 ${\AA}$. Two 1,3-diazacyclopentane ring moieties of the hexaazamacrotricyclic ligand are placed oppositely and almost perpendicularly to the square coordination plane of the ruffled 14-membered macrocycle. The secondary N atoms are hydrogen-bonded to the perchlorate O atoms with distances of 3.017 (23) and 3.025 (19) ${\AA}$ for the complexes A and B, respectively.

  • In this study, considering the difficulties for all farms to convert farm styles to animal welfare-based housing, an experiment was performed to observe the changes in the behavior and welfare of sows when the slat floor was changed to a collective breeding ground. Twenty-eight sows used in this study were between the second and fifth parities to minimize the influence of parity. Using a flats floor cover, the flattening rates were treated as 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Data collection was the behavior of sows visually observed using a camera (e.g., standing, lying, fighting and excessive biting behaviors, and abnormal behaviors) and the animal welfare level measured through field visits. Lying behavior was found to be higher (p < 0.01) as the flattening rate increased, and sows lying on the slatted cover also increased as the flattening rate increased (p < 0.01). Fighting behavior wasincreased when the flattening rate was increased to 20%, and chewing behavior was increased (p < 0.05) as the flattening rate increased. The animal welfare level of sows, 'good feeding', it was found that all treatment groups for body condition score and water were good at 100 (p < 0.05). 'Good housing' was the maximum value (100) in each treatment group. As the percentage of floor increased, the minimum good housing was increased from 78 in 0% flattening rate to 96 in 50% flattening rate. The maximum (100) 'good health' was achieved in the 0% and 20% flattening rates, and it was 98, 98, and 99 in the 30%, 50%, and 40% flattening rate, respectively. 'Appropriate behavior' score was significantly lower than that of other paremeters, but when the flattening ratio was 0% and 20%, the maximum and minimum values were 10. At 40% and 50%, the maximum values were 39 and 49, respectively, and the minimum values were analyzed as 19 for both 40% and 50%. These results will be used as basic data about sow welfare for farmers to successfully transition to group housing and flat floors.

  • Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) seed, originated from Central America, is a nutritious food especially rich in dietary fiber and protein. In this study, we investigated the quality and sensory characteristics of Yanggang with chia seed powder (CSP). Red bean paste was replaced with CSP at 0% (Control), 1% (CSP1), 2% (CSP2), 3% (CSP3) and 4% (CSP4). The pH values of chia seed Yanggang tended to decrease from Control (6.84) to CSP4 (6.67); whereas, the moisture contents of Yanggang samples tended to increase. The soluble solid contents of CSP4 were the highest ($3.33^{\circ}Bx$), as compared to the Control which showed the lowest values ($2.77^{\circ}Bx$). In the CSP-added groups, the L-value (lightness), a-value (redness) and b-value (yellowness) were increased, while the ${\Delta}E$ (total color difference) was decreased, as compared to the control group. Hardness and springiness were both increased from control ($49.77g/cm^2$ and 464.80%, respectively) to CSP4 ($72.21g/cm^2$ and 532.43%, respectively). However, cohesiveness decreased from control (47.41%) to CSP4 (37.34%). Chewiness and adhesiveness showed no significant group-wise difference (p<0.05). Total polyphenol content ranged from 7.23 to 10.73 mg GAE/100 g, with a lower ABTS $IC_{50}$ of the CSP-added groups than that of the control group. Samples from the CSP-added as well as Control groups showed no significant differences among all items on the sensory evaluation test, except flavor. The results indicated that CSP had significant effects on the soluble solid contents and texture of Yanggang. Thus, the addition of 2% of CSP is desirable for making Yanggang.

  • Statement of problem. The performance and maintenance of implant-supported prostheses are primarily dependent upon load transmission both at the bone-to-implant interface and within the implant-abutment-prosthesis complex. The design of the interface between components has been shown to have a profound influence on the stability of screw joints. Purpose. The Purpose of this study was to compare the strength and the fatigue resistance of 1-piece and 2-piece abutment connected to oral implant, utilizing an internal conical interface. Material and methods. Twenty $Implatium^{(R)}$ tapered implants were embedded to the top of the fixture in acrylic resin blocks. Ten $Combi^{(R)}$(1-piece) and $Dual^{(R)}$(2-piece) abutments of the same dimension were assembled to the implant, respectively. The assembled units were mounted in a testing machine. A load was applied perpendicular to the long axis of the assemblies and the loading points was at the distance of 7mm from the block surface. Half of 1-piece and 2-piece abutment-implant units were tested for the evaluation of the bending strength, and the others were cyclically loaded for the evaluation of the fatigue resistance until plastic deformation occurred. Nonparametric statistical analysis was performed for the results. Results. Mean plastic and maximum bending moment were $1,900{\pm}18Nmm,\;3,609{\pm}106Nmm$ for the 1-piece abutment, and $1,250{\pm}31Nmm,\;2,688{\pm}166Nmm$ for the 2-piece abutment, respectively. Mean cycles and standard deviation when implant-abutment joint showed a first plastic deformation were $238,610{\pm}44,891$. cycles for the 1-piece abutment and $9,476{\pm}3,541$ cycles for the 2-piece abutment. A 1-piece abutment showed significantly higher value than a 2-piece abutment in the first plastic bending moment (p<.05), maximum bending moment (p<.05) and fatigue strength (p<.05). Conclusion. Both 1-piece and 2-piece conical abutment had high strength and fatigue resistance and this suggests long-term durability without mechanical complication. However, the 1-piece conical abutment was more stable than the 2-piece conical abutment in the strength and the fatigue resistance.

  • An attempt to determine the optimum levels of P and K fertilizers application for Tong-il lines (indica${\times}$Japonica) was made with the data obtained from the farm fields during 1976 to 1979. The detailed interpretation to obtains relationships between fertilizer recommendation of P and K with their balance with Ca and Mg contents in soil were made using yield data obtained in 1977. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The optimum rates of P and K fertilizer application varied with the kinds of paddy soils showing the ranges of 6.6-11.4 kg/10a for P (as $P_2O_5$) and 7.0-11.3 kg/10a for K (as $K_2O$). The amounts of optimum fertilizers increased in the order of unmatured soil, normal soil, sandy soil, saline soil, poorly drained soil for P, and unmatured soil, poorly drained soil, sandy soil, normal soil, saline soil for K. 2. The yield increment at the optimum levels of P and K in comparison with no fertilizer application were 3,5-7.5% for P and 2.1-9.1% for K. The effectiveness of P was greatest in the unmatured soils and that of K was greatest in the poorly drained soils, and in the saline soil, that of P and K was relatively high. 3. According to relationship between relative yield index and soil testing value, the critical $P_2O_5$ contents which showed the yield response in soil were about 100 ppm for normal soil and 200ppm for sandy soil. That of exchangeable K/Ka+Mg ratio in soil were about 0.08 for normal paddy soil and over 0.08 for sandy soil, and those for poorly drained soils were not obtained in the ranged below 0.08. 4. The regression equations of fertilizer recommendation for different soils were obtained between the available $P_2O_5$ in soil or ratio of K to base including Ca and Mg in soil (x) and the amount (Y) of P and K fertilizers applied. The equations for phosphorus recommendation were Y=11.27C-0.048x for normal paddy soil and Y=13.383-0.061x for sandy soil, and those for potassium recommendation were Y=9.526-0.569x for normal paddy soil, Y=11.727-1.004x for sandy soil, and Y=12.574-0.558x for poorly drained soil, respectively.

  • The main nutritional problem of sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage is low quality and dry matter (DM) contents. This experiment was conducted to evaluate whether field pre-wilting treatment of sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage increases DM content and forage quality of the silage. The experiment was a randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments were consisted of five different wilting days: 0 day (direct cut silage), 0.5 day, 1 day, 2 days and 3 days. Sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage with pre-wilting showed low 4.00 pH values, however direct cut silage (control) showed a 4.30 value because of its high moisture content. The DM content of sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage with pre-wilting was high above 25.1% after 1 days, however that of direct cut silage had 17.6%. And the effluent of wilted silage was decreased with prolonged wilting period, but that of direct cut silage produced effluent of 183 mL/kg. Crude protein and ether extract with wilted silage were decreased, however crude ash was increased with prolonged wilting period. Silage with pre-wilting had higher acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents than control silages, while its non-fiber carbohydrate (NFC) showed the opposite results. Lactic acid and total organic acid were increased with prolonged wilting period. For the palatability of dairy goat, silage with 2 days wilting was highest among silages. The experiment results indicate that wilted sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage could be recommended as effective method for reducing effluent, increasing pH and forage quality more than direct cut silage. Optimum pre-wilting day of sorghum$\times$sudangrass hybrid silage may be 1 days.

  • This study investigated quality characteristics, antioxidant activities, and retarding retrogradation of Sulgidduck, traditional rice cake of Korea, prepared using rice flour added with 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% pumpkin leaf powder. Moisture content of pumpkin leaf Sulgidduck showed a tendency to increase in the 1% and 2% added group but decrease in the 3% and 4% added group. pH level significantly increased (4.50~6.16) with an increase in content of pumpkin leaf powder (P<0.05). For color, as content of pumpkin leaf powder increased, L-value decreased and b-value increased. Hardness tended to increase with addition of pumpkin leaf powder except for the 1% added group. Springiness was not significantly different (P<0.05). Chewiness and adhesiveness increased according to addition level increase. Retarding retrogradation showed that the pumpkin leaf powder added group had a stronger effect compared to the control, whereas the 2% added group presented the most retarding retrogradation effect with the lowest Avrami exponent. Total phenols content and ABTS radical scavenging activity tended to increase as content of pumpkin leaf powder increased. Sensory properties by 7-point scale test showed that the 2% added group had the highest scores, whereas the 4% added group had the lowest scores. These results suggest that pumpkin leaf is considered as a good material to improve quality characteristics, antioxidant activities, and retarding retrogradation of Sulgidduck. The most appropriate proportion for the greatest effect of retarding retrogradation in Sulgidduck was considered to be 2%.

  • Black tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum) is known to have more ${\beta}-carotene$, lycopene, and vitamin C than general red-colored tomatoes. In this study, we evaluated the quality properties, antioxidant activities and sensory characteristics of black tomato cookies. Cookies were prepared by replacing 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7% of flour with black tomato powder. Density of black tomato cookies tended to be decreased between control (1.20) and 3% added groups (1.12). pH value was decreased from control (6.66) to 7% added group (5.16). Spread factor and loss rate were increased with increasing amounts of black tomato powder. Hardness was gradually increased from $107.77g/cm^2$ in control to $170.50g/cm^2$ in 7% added group. Color measurement indicated that L-value (brightness) was highest in control (70.46) and lowest in 7% added group (45.23); whereas, a-value (redness) increased while b-value (yellowness) tended to decrease with increasing amounts of black tomato powder. Total polyphenol contents and DPPH radical scavenging activities were directly proportional to the amount of black tomato powder. Consumer preference scores in color and flavor of black tomato powder added group were higher than those of control. Characteristic strength test was not significantly different among the groups. Overall, the results indicated that adding 5% black tomato powder is desirable for making black tomato cookies.

  • To characterize the protein from arrowroot leaf, proteins were extracted and separated from arrowroot leaf, then its amino acid composition and functional properties were studied. Protein in arrowroot leaf was consisted of 18.5% albumin, 33.5% globulin, 34.0% glutelin, 6.2% protamine and 7.8% insoluble residues. The rates of precipitation of proteins which extracted with water, 1M NaCl, and 0.015N NaOH as a solvent were 84.7% (at pH 3.0), 76.4% (at pH 2.5) and 86.4% (at pH 4.0), respectively. The extracted proteins were separated up to about 90% by organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone at 80% concentration, Composition of arrowroot leaf protein concentrates were: $1{\sim}2%$ moisture, $59{\sim}67%$ protein, $4{\sim}8%$ ash and $5{\sim}6%$ (dialyzed concentrates) or $1{\sim}2%$ (acetone-treated ones) lipid. Main amino acids of the concentrates were aspartic acid, glutamic acid and glycine. Solubility profile of the concentrates according to pH was typical. The minimum solubility (below pH 5.0) of acetone extracted protein concentrates was lower than that of unextracted ones, whereas the reverse was true for pH value above this region. Bulk density, water and fat absorption of the concentrates were attributable to correlation to the treatment of acetone. And the bulk density of the concentrates was negatively correlative to both water and fat absorption. Emulsifying and foaming properties were not varied with the treatment of acetone.
