Fe(II)을 이용한 Cr(Ⅵ) 환원시 천연유기물의 영향 (Effects of Natural Organic Matter (NOM) on Cr(Ⅵ) reduction by Fe(II))

  • The aqueous geochemical characteristics of Cr(III) and Cr(Ⅵ) in environmental systems are very different from one another: Cr(Ⅵ) is highly soluble, mobile and toxic relative to Cr(III) Reduction of Cr(Ⅵ) to Cr(III) are beneficial in aquatic systems because of the transformation of a highly mobile and toxic species to one having a low solubility in water, thus simultaneously decreasing chromium mobility and toxicity. Fe(II) species are excellent reductants for transforming Cr(Ⅵ) to Cr(III), and in addition, keeping Cr(III) concentrations below the drinking water standard of 52 ppb at pH values between 5 and 11. Investigations of the effects of NOM on Cr(Ⅵ) reduction are for examining the feasibility of using ferrous iron to reduce hexavalent chromium in subsurface environments. Experiments in the presence of soils, however, showed that the solid phase consumes some of the reducing capacity of Fe(II) and makes the overall reduction kinetics slower. The soil components bring about consumption of the ferrous iron reductant. Particular attention is devoted to the complexation of Fe(II) by NOM and the subsequent effect on Cr(Ⅵ) reduction. Cr(Ⅵ) reduction rate by Fe(II) was affected by the presence of NOM (humic acid), The effects of humic acid was different from the solution pH values and the concentration of humic acid. It was probably due to the reactions between humic acid and Cr(Ⅵ), humic acid and Fe(II), and between Cr(Ⅵ) and Fe(II), at each pH.

흑운모 및 황철석에 의한 6가 크롬의 환원 반응속도와 반응기작 (Kinetics and mechanism of chromate reduction by biotite and pyrite)

  • 본 연구에서는 황철석과 흑운모를 이용한 회분식반응조실험(batch reactor experiment)을 통하여 수용성 Cr(Ⅵ)의 제거 및 반응속도를 살펴보았으며 이에 따른 산화환원 반응기작을 고찰하였다. 황철석 실험군이 흑운모실험 군에 비해 산화환원반응속도가 100배정도 빨랐으며, pH 3의 실험군이 pH 4 실험군에 비해 Cr(III)으로의 환원반응속도가 빠르게 나타났다. 황철석 실험군에서 Cr(Ⅵ) 초기농도치 90%이상이 제거되는데 걸리는 시간은 pH가 4일때 4시간, pH가 3일 때 40분 이내였다. 반면에, 흑운모 실험군의 경우 pH가 3인 조건에서도 Cr(Ⅵ) 초기농도의 90%이상이 제거되는데 400시간 이상이 걸렸다. 모든 조건에서 Cr(III)치 농도는 초기에 증가하는 경향을 보이다가 일정시간이 지나면 안정한 농도로 고정되었다. 산성의 반응용액에서 Cr(Ⅵ)의 환원반응속도는 이 두 광물이 포함하고 있는 2가 철의 해리속도와 관련이 있음을 의미한다. pH 4의 조건인 실험군에서는 용액 내 Cr(Ⅵ)이 Cr(III)으로 환원되고 Fe(II)가 Fe(III)로 산화된 후, (Cr, Fe)(OH)$_3$$_{ (s)}$와 같은 침전물을 생성하여 상대적으로 용액내 Cr(III)과 Fe(III)농도가 낮은 것으로 여겨진다. pH 3의 실험군을 화학양론적 고찰하였으며, 흑운모의 실험에서는 수용성 Fe(II)의 감소된 양과 Cr(Ⅵ)의 환원된 양의 이론적인 몰비가 [3Fe(II) : 1Cr(Ⅵ)]임에도 그 몰 비가 약 1:1로서 1 mole의 Cr(Ⅵ)을 환원시키는데 Fe(II)이 적게 소비되었으며, 이는 광물에서 해리되는 Fe(II)에 의한 Cr(Ⅵ)의 환원뿐만 아니라 흑운모 구조 내 Fe(II)이 용액 내 Fe(III) 이온을 Fe(II) 이온으로 환원시키는 불균질산화환원반응이 발생하고 이 반응으로 생성된 Fe(II) 이온이 다시 Cr(Ⅵ)의 환원반응에 기여하였기 때문이다. 그러나 황철석 실험의 경우, 그 몰비가 약 2.90:1 로서 3에 가까우며, 이는 황철석의 빠른 산화를 통하여 급속한 Fe(II) 이온이 공급됨으로서 Cr(Ⅵ)의 환원반응이 이론적 화학양론의 반응 몰비에 부합한 결과를 보인 것으로 판단된다.

Reduction of Hydrogen Sulphide in Chicken Manure by Immobilized Sulphur Oxidising Bacteria Isolated from Hot Spring

  • The rapid development of the poultry industry has led to the production of large amounts of manure, which produce substances like hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) that contribute to odor pollution. $H_2S$ is a highly undesirable gas component and its removal from the environment is therefore necessary. Sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (SOB) are widely known to remove contaminating $H_2S$ due to their ability to oxidize reduced sulfur compounds. In this study, three potential SOB (designated AH18, AH25, and AH28) that were previously isolated from a hot spring in Malaysia were identified by 16S rRNA gene analysis. Laboratory-scale biological deodorization experiments were conducted to test the performance of the three isolates-in the form of pure or mixed cultures, with the cells immobilized onto alginate as a carrier-in reducing the $H_2S$ from chicken manure. On the basis of 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis, isolate AH18 was identified as Pseudomonas sp., whereas isolates AH25 and AH28 were identified as Achromobacter sp. The most active deodorizing isolate was AH18, with an $H_2S$ reduction rate of 74.7% (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the reduction rates for isolates AH25 and AH28 were 54.2% and 60.8% (p > 0.05), respectively. However, the $H_2S$ removal performance was enhanced in the mixed culture, with a reduction rate of 81.9% (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the three potential SOB isolates were capable of reducing the $H_2S$ from chicken manure in the form of a pure culture immobilized on alginate, and the reduction performance was enhanced in the mixed culture.

발효쪽 분말염료로 염색한 견직물의 색소 함량이 직물의 색상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Amount of Pigment on the Color of Silk Dyed with Fermented Indigo Powder Dye)

  • This research investigated the relationship between the amount of fixed pigment and the color of silk dyed with three types of fermented indigo powder dye under different temperatures and pH, by reduction or nonreduction method. Amount of fixed pigment was analyzed using the Ultimate 3000 HPLC-DAD instrument and the color of dyed silk was measured using the X-rite spectrocolorimeter. All silk samples dyed by reduction method showed PB color. The amount of indigotin fixation was dependent on the dyeing temperature and pH regardless of the indigotin composition in the dye. Indirubin was less dependent upon the dyeing condition in the reduction dyeing and its fixation was minimum level. Dyeing conditions which can maximize the indigotin fixation were $50^{\circ}C/pH$ 11 and $70^{\circ}C/pH$ 7 conditions in reduction dyeing. Color of silk showed more redness ($a^*$) thus higher PB color when the indigotin fixation was low and indirubin fixation was relatively high. Indirubin fixation was very low with slightly better fixation by nonreduction method. More reddish color was obtained by nonreduction dyeing, and by more alkaline dyebath.

ZanF를 이용한 질산성 질소 환원 및 암모늄부산물 동시제거

  • Reduction of nitrate by zero valent iron (Fe$^{0}$ ) has been previously studied, but the proper treatment for the by-product of ammonium has not been reported. However, in terms of nitrogen contamination, ammonium may be regarded as another form of nitrogen contaminants since it can be oxidized to nitrate again under aerobic conditions. This study is focused on simultaneous removal of nitrate and its by-product of ammonium, with the ZanF (Zeolite anchored Fe), a product derived from zeolite modified by Fe(II) chloride followed by reduction with sodium borohydride. Batch experiments were performed without buffer at two different pH condition with ZanF, iron filing, Fe(II)-sorbed zeolite, and pure zeolite to estimate the nitrate reduction and the ammonium production. At higher pH, removal rate of nitrate was reduced in both ZanF and iron filings. ZnF removed 60 % of nitrate at initial pH of 3.3 with no production of ammonium, while iron filing showed equivalent production of ammonium to the reduced amount of nitrate. In terms of nitrogen contamination, ZanF removed about 60 % and 40 % at initial pH of 3.3 and 6, respectively, while iron filing presented negligible removal against total nitrogen including nitrate and ammonium.

느릅나무 껍질 추출액에 의한 섬유의 염색성 및 항균성 (Dyeability and Antibacterial Activity of the Fabrics with Elm-Bark Extracts)

  • The purpose of this study is searching the Elm-Bark dyes' dyeability and antibacterial activities according to the dyeing time, pH, a mordant and the method of mordancy. We used two kinds of Elm-Bark dyes which's extracted by the Electrolytic reduction water and Distilled water. Silk fabric and Cotton/nylon union fabric was used for this study. The results are as follow. K/S value is increased according to the dyeing time and the suitable pH level is pH 3. Dyeability is good with Iron(II) sulfate$(FeSO_4\cdot{7H}_2O)$ on the pre-mordancy and Potassium dichromate$(K_2Cr_2O_7)$ on the post-mordancy. The Elm-Bark dyes by the Electrolytic reduction water has good colorfastness more than by the Distilled water. Antibacterial activities is excellent and the ratio is over than 99.5%.

  • 일산화탄소탈수소화효소를 이용한 이산화탄소의 전기화학적 환원 반응의 최적화를 위해 pH와 온도의 영향을 살펴보았다. pH는 이산화탄소의 환원반응 용이성과 효소의 안정도 효과가 함께 반영되는 6.3에서 최적의 조건을 보였고, 온도는 이산화탄소의 용해도가 적어지더라도 효소의 활성이 가장 좋은 60도에서 최적 조건을 보였다. 일산화탄소탈수소화효소의 안정성 및 활성이 가장 중요한 조건임을 알 수 있었다.

  • Electrochemical reduction of dibenzoylmethane was studied on mercury electrode by means of cyclic voltammetry, polarography and potentiostatic measurements in ethanol-water system. In acidic solutions monomeric pinacol was produced by irreversible two-electron process while monomeric and dimeric pinacol were competitively produced by the same process in neutral solution. However, in basic solution the dimeric pinacol was mostly produced through radical by irreversible one-electron transfer process. Mechanisms of the reduction of dibenzoylmethane are deduced from Tafel slope, pH dependance and reaction order with respect to the concentration of dibenzoylmethane in the solution of various pH.

중형 기공성 실리카 담체에 담지된 Pd-Cu 촉매를 활용한 수중 질산성 질소 저감 반응 (Catalytic Nitrate Reduction in Water over Mesoporous Silica Supported Pd-Cu Catalysts)

  • 본 연구에서는 중형 기공성 실리카 담체인 MCM-41과 SBA-15를 활용하여 팔라듐과 구리를 담지한 후, 제조 촉매의 수중 질산성 질소 저감 반응 활성을 평가하였다. 순수 수소 공급 반응 조건에서, 질산성 질소의 농도는 반응 시간에 따라 점차 저감되었지만, 반응기 내부에 높게 형성된 pH로 인해 질소의 선택도가 매우 낮은 문제점이 발견되었다. 이를 해결하기 위해 이산화탄소를 수소와 함께 공급하여 pH의 안정화를 도모하였고, 질소 선택도를 40% 가량 증가시켰다. 상기 두 반응 조건에서 모두 Pd-Cu/MCM-41가 Pd-Cu/SBA-15보다 높은 활성을 나타냈다. 이와 같이 수중 질산성 질소 저감 반응의 활성에 차이를 보이는 두 촉매에 대하여, 질소 흡-탈착, XRD, $H_2$-TPR, XPS 등과 같은 특성 분석을 수행하여 제조 촉매의 구조와 물성이 반응활성에 미치는 영향을 검토해보았다.

Arsenite induces premature senescence via p53/p21 pathway as a result of DNA damage in human malignant glioblastoma cells

  • In this study, we investigate whether arsenite-induced DNA damage leads to p53-dependent premature senescence using human glioblastoma cells with p53-wild type (U87MG-neo) and p53 deficient (U87MG-E6). A dose dependent relationship between arsenite and reduced cell growth is demonstrated, as well as induced ${\gamma}H2AX$ foci formation in both U87MG-neo and U87MG-E6 cells at low concentrations of arsenite. Senescence was induced by arsenite with senescence-associated ${\beta}$-galactosidase staining. Dimethyl- and trimethyl-lysine 9 of histone H3 (H3DMK9 and H3TMK9) foci formation was accompanied by p21 accumulation only in U87MG-neo but not in U87MG-E6 cells. This suggests that arsenite induces premature senescence as a result of DNA damage with heterochromatin forming through a p53/p21 dependent pathway. p21 and p53 siRNA consistently decreased H3TMK9 foci formation in U87M G-neo but not in U87MG-E6 cells after arsenite treatment. Taken together, arsenite reduces cell growth independently of p53 and induces premature senescence via p53/p21-dependent pathway following DNA damage.
