A Hybrid Proposed Framework for Object Detection and Classification

  • The object classification using the images' contents is a big challenge in computer vision. The superpixels' information can be used to detect and classify objects in an image based on locations. In this paper, we proposed a methodology to detect and classify the image's pixels' locations using enhanced bag of words (BOW). It calculates the initial positions of each segment of an image using superpixels and then ranks it according to the region score. Further, this information is used to extract local and global features using a hybrid approach of Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and GIST, respectively. To enhance the classification accuracy, the feature fusion technique is applied to combine local and global features vectors through weight parameter. The support vector machine classifier is a supervised algorithm is used for classification in order to analyze the proposed methodology. The Pascal Visual Object Classes Challenge 2007 (VOC2007) dataset is used in the experiment to test the results. The proposed approach gave the results in high-quality class for independent objects' locations with a mean average best overlap (MABO) of 0.833 at 1,500 locations resulting in a better detection rate. The results are compared with previous approaches and it is proved that it gave the better classification results for the non-rigid classes.

A Real-time Copper Foil Inspection System using Multi-thread (다중 스레드를 이용한 실시간 동판 검사 시스템)

  • The copper foil surface inspection system is necessary for the factory automation and product quality. The developed system is composed of the high speed line scan camera, the image capture board and the processing computer. For the system resource utilization and real-time processing, multi-threaded architecture is introduced. There are one image capture thread, 2 or more defect detection threads, and one defect communication thread. To process the high-speed input image data, the I/O overlap is used through the double buffering. The defect is first detected by the predetermined threshold. To cope with the light irregularity, the compensation process is applied. After defect detection, defect type is classified with the defect width, eigenvalue ratio of the defect covariance matrix and gray level of defect. In experiment, for high-speed input image data, real-time processing is possible with multi -threaded architecture, and the 89.4% of the total 141 defects correctly classified.

  • Stereo gamma ray detection system generates a two-dimensional image of the gamma ray by using the position values and the gamma ray signal. And the device will overlap with the visible light image shows the actual distribution of the gamma-ray space. The gamma ray detection device is a stereo configuration to a motion controller for controlling the signal measurement unit and the position detection portion for detecting the detection portion and the gamma-ray signal comprising a gamma-ray detection sensor. In this paper, we developed a system operation management algorithm for each module individually configured efficiently. We confirmed the imaged and distribution information output for the gamma rays from gamma-ray irradiation test site by using these results.

Line Segments Matching Framework for Image Based Real-Time Vehicle Localization (이미지 기반 실시간 차량 측위를 위한 선분 매칭 프레임워크)

  • Vehicle localization is one of the core technologies for autonomous driving. Image-based localization provides location information efficiently, and various related studies have been conducted. However, the image-based localization methods using feature points or lane information has a limitation that positioning accuracy may be greatly affected by road and driving environments. In this study, we propose a line segment matching framework for accurate vehicle localization. The proposed framework consists of four steps: line segment extraction, merging, overlap area detection, and MSLD-based segment matching. The proposed framework stably performed line segment matching at a sufficient level for vehicle positioning regardless of vehicle speed, driving method, and surrounding environment.

Efficient Label Placement using Overlap-free Region and Background Analysis (중첩 자유 영역과 배경 분석을 이용한 효율적인 라벨 배치)

  • This paper deal with a method for efficient placing 2 dimensional virtual labels on the view plane. The proposed method has suitable computational costs for realtime processing and it overcomes the local minima problem which is not solved in previous automatic label placement algorithms, and also it enhances readability by placing labels in less congestion area on the view plane. Background analysis must be considered for label placement. However previous works do not concern with this problem seriously. And furthermore, automatic label placement algorithm and background analysis algorithm have been studied separately in their own field. This paper proposed the background analysis method using background color and texture component to enhance readability, and it is the first research about analyzing the background of color image and applying it in automatic label placement field. This paper shown improved placement performance through combining automatic label placement algorithm and background analysis algorithm organically, and various experiments verified it.

Change of Radiologic Index of Foot according to Radiation Projection Angle: A Study Using Phantom Foot (방사선 투과 각도에 따른 족부 방사선 지표의 변화: Phantom Foot을 이용한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the measurement differences of simple radiographs according to radiation projection angle using a phantom and to propose methods for objective analysis of simple radiographs. Materials and Methods: We took simple radiographs with different projection angles using a C-arm image intensifier and measured five parameters of the foot on the simple radiographic images. Five parameters include lateral tibiocalcaneal angle, lateral talocalcaneal angle, naviculocuboid overlap, lateral talo-first metatarsal angle, and lateral calcaneo-first metatarsal angle. Intraobserver and interobserver reliability were verified, and then intraclass correlations of parameters were analyzed. Results: Radiographic parameters of the foot showed high intraobserver and interobserver reliability. Lateral tibiocalcaneal angle has a strong negative linear relationship with rotation and a moderate negative linear relationship with tilt. Lateral talocalcaneal angle has a moderate positive linear relationship with rotation and a strong positive linear relationship with tilt. Naviculocuboid overlap has a strong positive linear relationship with rotation and a moderate positive linear relationship with tilt. Lateral talo-first metatarsal angle does not have a linear relationship with rotation and a moderate negative linear relationship with tilt. Lateral calcaneo-first metatarsal angle has a moderate positive linear relationship with rotation and tilt. Conclusion: More precise evaluation of the foot with a simple radiograph can be performed by understanding the changes of radiographic parameters according to radiation projection angle.

A New Snake Model for Tracking a Moving Target Using a Mobile Robot (로봇의 이동물체 추적을 위한 새로운 확장 스네이크 모델)

  • In the case where both a camera and a target are moving at the same time, the image background is successively changed, and the overlap with other moving objects is apt to be generated. The snake algorithms have been variously used in tracking the object, but it is difficult to be applied in the excessive overlap with other objects and the large bias between the snake and the target. To solve this problem, this paper presents an extended snake model. It includes an additional energy function which considers the temporal variation rate of the snake's area and a SSD algorithm which generates the template adaptive to the snake detected in the previous frame. The new energy function prevents the snake from over-shrinking or stretching and the SSD algorithm with adaptively changing template allows the prediction of the target's position in the next frame. The experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm successfully tracks the target even when the target is temporarily occluded by other objects.

  • New methods are proposed for printing a full resolution image on a limited output device. The proposed algorithm uses a dot-pattern database that models overlapping phenomena among neighbor printing dots. To solve the problem of dot-overlap, the gray levels of dot-pattern sets were calculated using a circular dot-overlap model and then measured by a spectrometer. Thereafter, in order to improve the visual quality of the color dithering, the contrast sensitivity function of the human visual system was used. As a result, the optimal dot-pattern can be selected from the database. Consequently, the proposed algorithm can produce high quality images while using low-cost color devices.

  • 위성영상 기술의 발달과 고해상도 위성영상의 해상도 규제가 완화됨에 따라 건물의 높이 정보를 획득하는데 있어 고해상도 위성영상의 그림자 정보를 이용하는 연구들이 활발히 수행되어지고 있다. 그림자 정보를 이용하여 건물 높이 정보를 획득하는 연구의 정확도를 높이기 위해서는 정확한 건물의 그림자 탐지가 선행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 단영상을 이용한 그림자 탐지기법인 임계값법(Thresholding), 영상분류법, 영역확장법(Region Growing)을 건물의 그림자 탐지에 적용하여 각 기법의 장단점과 정확도를 평가하였다. 영상에서 수동으로 건물의 그림자를 디지타이징한 참조 자료와 기법들을 적용하여 탐지한 결과 영상을 시각적으로 비교하였고, 오차행렬(Confusion Matrix)을 이용한 전체정확도(Accuracy), F-measure, AOR(Area Overlap Ratio)을 이용하여 정량적인 정확도평가를 수행하였다. 실험결과 영역확장법을 적용한 경우 시각적 정량적으로 가장 높은 정확도를 보였으며, 영상분류법을 적용한 경우 시각적으로는 임계값을 적용한 경우보다 좋은 결과를 보였으나 정량적으로는 가장 낮은 정확도를 보였다.

  • A comparative study on ground boundary conditions for the airfoil in ground effect has been carried out. The objective of the present study is to clarify effects of the ground boundary conditions so that it will be helpful to analyse results of wind tunnel tests using the fixed ground board or the image method. A low Mach number preconditioned Navier-Stokes solver using the overlap grid method has been applied. It has been turned out that results with the symmetric boundary condition are almost the same to those with the moving boundary condition. Results with the fixed ground boundary show discrepancy to those with the moving boundary condition when flow separation on the ground board takes place.
