  • A pseudogap in the normal-state quasiparticle density of states of $high-T_c$ superconductors has been revealed in many different kinds of experiments. The existence of the pseudogap and the superconducting gap, and the correlation between them has attracted considerable attention because they are believed to be a key to understanding the mechanism of the $high-T_c$ superconductivity. The interlayer tunneling spectroscopy, excluding the surface-dependent effect, is one of the most accurate means to examine the electron spectral characteristics both in the superconducting and the normal states. In this study, a new constant-temperature intrinsic tunneling spectroscopic technique, excluding the overheating effect using the in-situ temperature monitoring combined with the digital proportional-integral-derivative control, is introduced. The implication on the $high-T_c$ superconductivity of the detailed temperature dependencies of the observed spectral weight in $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8+x}\;high-T_c$ material for overdoped and underdoped levels is discussed.

  • In this study, it was evaluated the fire risk of an electric heater as representative seasonal appliances. Two type of electric heaters were used in experiments. When electric heaters were operated, temperature variation was measured around the heater. Internal structure was understood by Nondestructive inspection. It was evaluated the tire risk of electric heaters, when flammable materials were positioned ear a heater. It was also estimated the probability of a tire in case of malfunction of a safety tip-over witch. When a heater was operated in a normal condition, temperature was maintained under $80^{\circ}C$ around the heater. The possibility of a fire is very high, when a heater is covered with flammable materials or malfunction of safety parts (safety tip-over switch, anti-overheating devices).

  • In this paper, in order to predict and prevent electrical fires that occur in the power system, we measured the informations of electric power, and then proposed a system to predict the electrical fire using these informations. To this end, we analyzed the correlations for over-current, overload and overheating. These states are caused by the grounding current and the leakage current, and are the main causes of an electrical fire. Use these correlations to derive the derivative of the fuzzy rules for membership function. The designed algorithm was simulated by utilizing the informations of the actual power of the switchgear-panel.

In the case that temperature of transformer exceeds reference temperature for running of KHST, overheating of transformer may cause a fatal accident of vehicle. Therefore, after on-line measuring system was constructed in vehicle, oil temperature and tank temperature were measured on real-time. Characteristics and main specifications of transformer in KHST were described in this paper Also, measuring system for temperature measurement of transformer was explained in brief. Temperature data of transformer was acquired using measuring system, KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) analyzed characteristic in contrast with comparing with temperature of transformer about month, running speed and running time.

  • Nonlinear electronic loads used at office buildings distort the voltage and current waveform that cause the overheating of transformer losses, ELB(Electrical Leakage Breaker) tripping, and so on. This paper analyzed waveform distortion characteristics at several once buildings by comparing with magnitude of voltage and current harmonics, crest factor of voltage and current, phase voltage and current unbalance. As a consequence, severe current waveform distortion in phase and neutral line by harmonics and high current unbalance rates by unbalanced using of single loads among the three phases are investigated. The results of the study can be used in making decisions regarding reasonable and economical operating of loads at office buildings.

  • Recently, as the road capacity reaches the limit and environmental problems becomes serious, there is gradually increased a need for railroad vehicles that are environment-friendly and have time regularity, reliability, and safety. Accordingly, in addition to conventional railroad vehicles, lots of vehicles are being newly developed. In this study, temperature sensors were adhered to transformer that is used in KHST(Korean High-Speed Train) to verify variation of temperature characteristics about transformer synthetically and efficiently. In the case that temperature of transformer exceeds reference temperature for running of KHST, overheating of transformer may cause a fatal accident of vehicle. • Cu-Ni-P alloy nano powders were fabricated by the electrical explosion of electroless Ni plated Cu wires. The effect of applied voltage on the explosion was examined by applying pulse voltage of 6 and 28 kV, The estimated overheating factor, K, were 1.3 for 6 kV and 2.2 for 28 kV. The powders produced with pulse voltage of 6 kV were composed of Cu-rich solid solution, Ni-rich solid solution, and $Ni_3P$ phase. While, those produced with 28 kV were complete Cu-Ni-P solid solution and small amount of $Ni_3P$ phase. The initial P content of 6.5 at.% was reduced to 2-3 at.% during explosion due to its high vapour pressure.

  • This study investigated the effects of a low-voltage ohmic heating process (2.5 and 3.8 V/cm) on the thawing characteristics and NaCl diffusion of pork. The thawing rate of pork was dependent on the applied voltages and brine salinities, and few differences were obtained in pork quality parameters (color, water-holding capacity, and shear force) regarding the different treatments. The NaCl concentration of pork after ohmic thawing was higher than that following brine-immersion thawing, however, the NaCl diffusion did not differ from when fresh meat was immersed in brine. For application of the ohmic process in fresh pork, various ohmic pulses were generated in order to prevent the meat from overheating, and the results indicated that the ohmic process was a better way to enhance NaCl diffusion compared with immersing pork at high temperature. Although the mechanisms involved in NaCl diffusion at low-voltage electric field strength were unclear, the present study demonstrated that the ohmic process has a potential benefit in the application of meat processing.

  • Bi-based nano-varistors and micro-varistors fabricated with each ZnO nano-powder and micro-powder were studied about characteristics on the surge capability in this study. ZnO nano-varistors were sintered in air at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. The voltage-current and residual voltage properties of ZnO nano-varistor were compared with their of ZnO micrio-varistor. As a result of these properties, our ZnO nano-varistor has about 3 times at operating voltage as compared with conventional ZnO varistor fabricated with micro-powder and the residual voltage was 8.06 kV at nominal discharge current 101kA in the lighting impulse current test. And then the residual voltage rate 1.72 of our nano-varistor has had better performance than the 1.79 of micro-varistor because ZnO nano-varistor has shown much quick response property because of increasing effective cross-section area. Also, to analysis surge capability took thermal images for pyrexia temperature distribution with each of the varistors after operating varistors. Nano-varistor doesn't have shown local overheating and can confirm accurate temperature grade on the surface of its.

  • The thermal-hydraulic transient analysis of the proposed CANDU-9 plant was peformed. Several major transients ore analyzed if they meet the heat transport system design requirements. The proposed heat transport system configuration and the preliminary sizes of system equipment are justified by analysis in terms of the fuel integrity and the high system pressure limit during transients. The compliance with AECB R-77 requirements for CANDU-9 reactor was estimated. The analysis results showed that for each postulated accident the peak pressure values in the reactor headers are within the acceptance criteria given in ASME code requirements and the fuel overheating is prevented. One pump start-up during the reactor start-up operation was analyzed to investigate the How reversal through the fuel channel, which is specific in the proposed CANDU-9 plant.
