We have investigated the feasibility of using differential pressure(pressure drop) of gas turbine meter to diagnose turbine performance degradation caused by mechanical wearing damage and/or dirt buildup or erosion. If the differential pressure between the upstream piping and the throat of a turine meter can be correlated to meter flow rate over the operating range of the meter, then a relatively simple differential pressure measurement in the filed might be used to detect meter performance changes. To test this method, we have conducted two experimental simulation on Straightener Integrated Type(SIT) turbine meter. One is fur dirt buildup on turbine blade, the other is for eccentricity of the blade. Results show that this method provide a reliable measure of performance degradation and is useful maintenance indicator.

The Lubrication Mode of line contacts between the vane and the camring in an oil hydraulic vane pump has been investigated. First, the variations of the radial force of a vane were calculated from previous measurements of dynamic internal pressure in four chambers surrounding a vane. Next, the lubrication modes were distinguished with Hooke's chart, which is an improvement over Johnson's chart. Finally, the influence of the boundary conditions in the lubrication region on the fluid film lubrication was examined by calculating the film pressure distributions. The results showed that the lubrication mode of the vane tip exists in the rigid-variable-viscosity region, and that discharge pressure higher than 7 MPa greatly affects the oil film pressure in the small and the large arc section because of the Piezo-viscous effect.
This paper presents a closed-form model for evaluating the restraint effect of pressure induced bending on the opening of a circumferential through-wall crack, which is considered plastic deformation behavior. Three-dimensional finite element analyses with different crack lengths, restraint conditions, pipe geometries, magnitudes of internal pressure, and tensile properties were used to investigate the influence of each parameter on the pressure-induced bending restraint on the crack opening displacement. From these investigations, an analytical model based on elastic-perfectly plastic material was developed in terms of the crack length, symmetric restraint length, mean radius to thickness ratio, axial stress corresponding to the internal pressure, and normalized crack opening displacement evaluated from a linear-elastic crack opening condition. Finite element analyses results demonstrate that the proposed analytical model reliably estimated the restraint effect of pressure-induced bending on the plastic crack opening of a circumferential through-wall crack and properly reflected the dependence on each parameter within the range over which the analytical expression was derived.
Two-Phase flow pattern and pressure drop data were obtained for pure refrigerants R134a and R123 and their mixtures as test fluids in a horizontal tube. The flow pattern is observed through tubular sight glasses located at inlet and outlet of the test section. The flow map of Baker developed for air-water two-phase flow at atmospheric pressure failed to predict the observed flow patterns at the higher value of the mass velocity used in the present study. The map of Kattan et al. predicted the data well over the entire region of mass velocity selected in the present study. The measured pressure drop increased with an increase in vapor quality and mass velocity. A new two-phase multiplier was developed from a dimensional analysis of the frictional pressure drop data measured in the present experiment. This new multiplier was found successfully to correlate the frictional pressure drop.
The document "Understanding the Relationship Between Particle Size, Performance, and Pressure" explores the impact of particle size on chromatographic performance and system pressure. The study highlights how smaller particles can improve separation efficiency by providing higher resolution and faster analysis times. However, this comes at the cost of increased backpressure, which can challenge the system's hardware and require higher operating pressures. The document discusses the balance needed between particle size, column dimensions, and system pressure to optimize performance without exceeding the pressure limits of chromatographic systems. It outlines the advantages of using superficially porous particles (SPPs) over fully porous particles (FPPs) in achieving high efficiency with lower backpressure. The study also emphasizes the importance of selecting appropriate column dimensions and flow rates to manage system pressure while maintaining optimal performance. In conclusion, understanding the interplay between particle size, performance, and pressure is crucial for optimizing chromatographic separations, ensuring system longevity, and achieving high-quality analytical results.

A high-pressure, high-pressure drop control valve, which transforms the power transfer of a system by reducing the inlet pressure of 345bartothe outlet pressure of 112bar, is a fundamental component in an offshore plant process. With the increasingly growing market share of the maritime industry, this valve has been expected to be a high-value-added product. This study not only analyzes the relation between pressure drop and fluid velocity in a trim by using fluid analysis, but also examines the possibility of cavitation in a valve in addition to the plot for the extension of lifespan. Based on the analysis results, the design and production method of the valve are established, and accordingly, performance evaluation is carried out. It is demonstrated that the pressure drop from 345bar to 112bar is more feasible in the presence of the trim, which can induce a continuous and diminutive pressure drop in order to prevent cavitation in a high-pressure drop control valve. Furthermore, despite the fluid velocity near a seatring being found to be over 30m/s, the lifespan of the valve is determined to be adequate considering the operation condition of a prototype valve of 80%.
We aimed to determine the effect of heel height on foot pressure by comparing and analyzing data on foot pressure in shoes with different heel heights. Qn the basis of a previous study, we selected 3cm and 7cm as the shoe heel heights preferred by female college students. We divided 10 female students into forefoot and hindfoot to measure vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure. The average pressure on the forefoot was higher and that on the hindfoot was lower in the case of 7cm high-heeled shoes. The maximum pressure on the forefoot was significantly higher in the case of the 7cm heel height (p<.05). The vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure on the hindfoot were also significantly higher in the case of the 7cm heel height (p<.05). The results showed that wearing 7cm high-heeled shoes exerted greater maximum pressure on the forefoot and greater vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure on the Hndfoot. This leads to increase in confining pressure caused by high pressure distribution over the forefoot and increase in the pressure on the hindfoot, which may cause deformation of toes and heel pain over a long period. Therefore, female college students who wish to wear high heels are recommended to wear 3cm high-heeled shoes rather than 7cm high-heeled shoes.

Pressure sore is an area of ulceration and necrosis of the skin and underlying tissues usually occuring over the bony prominences of the body after prolonged or often repeated pressure. We reviewed and summarized the published articles and treatise on the treatment of pressure sore. The results were as follows : 1. Pressure sore occur due to prolonged or often repeated pressure. So it is better than decubitus ulcer that is called pressure sore. 2. The most common lesions of pressure sore are sacrum, ischial tuberosity, greater trochanter. 3. The cause of pressure sore are change of comprehension. urine, moisture, change of the ability of activity and exercise, shearing force. 4. The elements to influence on wound healing are collagen accumulation velocity, nutrition condition, Vitamine C, copper, iron. oxygen pressure, steroids, cell-toxic drug, radiation. 5. Non-operative treatments are managements of skin such as avoiding consistant pressure, dressing, preventing moisture, understanding patient and protecter, preventing spasm, improvement of systemic nutrition condition. 6. Operative treatements are debridement, suture, skin transplantation, muscle flap and musculaocutaneous flap surgery. Recently V-${\Gammer}$ advancement surgery in use of muscle and musculocutaneous flap is generally maded. 7. Complications of post-operation are wound rupture, infection, disappearance of transmitted skin, necrosis of flaps.

Most distributed water is not used effectively due to water loss occurring in pipe networks. These water losses are caused by leakage, typically due to high water pressure to ensure adequate water supply. High water pressure can cause the pipe to burst or develop leaks over time, particularly in an aging network. In order to reduce the amount of leakage and ensure proper water distribution, it is important to apply pressure management. Pressure management aims to maintain a steady and uniform pressure level throughout the network, which can be achieved through various operational schemes. The schemes include: (1) installing a variable speed pump (VSP), (2) introducing district metered area (DMA), and (3) operating pressure-reducing valves (PRV). Applying these approaches requires consideration of various hydraulic, economic, and environmental aspects. Due to the different functions of these approaches and related components, an all-together optimization of these schemes is a complicated task. In order to reduce the optimization complexity, this study recommends a sequential optimization method. With three network operation schemes considered (i.e., VSP, DMA, and PRV), the method explores all the possible combinations of pressure management paths. Through sequential optimization, the best pressure management path can be determined using a multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) to weigh in factors of cost savings, investment, pressure uniformity, and CO2 emissions. Additionally, the contribution of each scheme to pressure management was also described in the application results.

Safety valve used in LNG/LNG-FPSO ships is a high value valve, and it plays an important role in maintaining a fixed level of pressure by emitting LNG gas out of pipes in LNG piping system under the cryogenic and high-pressure condition when the pressure of the system connected with the LNG storage tank and pipes reaches over the set pressure. The structural stability is required for the inner pressure and thermal load because of the cryogenic and high-pressure condition, and a reliability of the safety valve is necessary for impact and deformation by opening the valve. But, the safety valve, which plays a key role for a safety of the transport and storage system, is depended on imports for over 90%, and in domestic production, the design of the valve is performed on the basis of experiences of the works without quantitative analysis for the inner operation characteristics and structural stability of the valve. In this study, impact velocity is calculated by theoretical analysis for obtaining the structural stability of the guide according to the impact load by opening the valve. The shape of the guide and the diaphragm for satisfying the structural stability are suggested and verified by using a thermal-structural analysis.
