Prediction of Output Power for PV Module with Tilted Angle and Structural Design (태양광 모듈의 구조디자인과 설치각도에 따른 출력예측)

  • A new model about output power prediction of PV module with various tilted angles and cell to cell distances has been proposed in this paper. Light intensity arrived on a solar cell could be changed by characteristics of PV module materials. Refractive indices, thickness and absorption coefficients of glass, EVA, solar cell and Backsheet are used to predict output. Also, the incident angle of light is changed 0 to 90[$^{\circ}$] and cell to cell distances are 5, 10 15[mm]. Two types of light incident on a solar cell are considered which are direct to a solar cell and reflected from Backsheet. The intensity of the incident light directly into the solar cell is reduced through glass and EVA about 17.5[%] in theoretical way. It has an error of 2.26[%] compared with experimental result. The results for compare theoretical with experimental data is validated within the error of 6.3[%]. This paper would be a research material to predict output power when the PV module is installed outdoor or a building.

Design and Making of PWM Control-based AC-DC Converter with Full-Bridge Rectifier (전파 정류기를 가지는 PWM 제어 기반의 AC-DC 컨버터 설계 및 제작)

  • Recently, miniaturization and low power consumption of electronic products and improved efficiency and power factor improvement have become a matter of great interest. In this paper, an AC-DC converter based on PWM control was designed and made. The AC-DC converter is designed with a structure in which one rectifier circuit and one output voltage control circuit are connected in series. The rectifier circuit is a diode-based single phase full-wave current circuit and the output voltage control circuit is a DC-DC conversion circuit based on PWM control. Arduino was used as the main control device for PWM control, and LCD was configured at the output stage so that the control result could be checked. The error between the output voltage displayed on the oscilloscope and LCD and the target output voltage was confirmed through repeated experiments with the test circuit, and the validity of the proposed design methodology was confirmed by showing an error rate of about 5% based on the oscilloscope measurement value.

Design of a Comparator with Improved Noise and Delay for a CMOS Single-Slope ADC with Dual CDS Scheme (Dual CDS를 수행하는 CMOS 단일 슬로프 ADC를 위한 개선된 잡음 및 지연시간을 가지는 비교기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a comparator structure that improves the noise and output delay of a single-slope ADC(SS-ADC) used in CMOS Image Sensor (CIS). To improve the noise and delay characteristics of the output, a comparator structure using the miller effect is designed by inserting a capacitor between the output node of the first stage and the output node of the second stage of the comparator. The proposed comparator structure improves the noise, delay of the output, and layout area by using a small capacitor. The CDS counter used in the single slop ADC is designed using a T-filp flop and bitwise inversion circuit, which improves power consumption and speed. The single-slope ADC also performs dual CDS, which combines analog correlated double sampling (CDS) and digital CDS. By performing dual CDS, image quality is improved by reducing fixed pattern noise (FPN), reset noise, and ADC error. The single-slope ADC with the proposed comparator structure is designed in a 0.18-㎛ CMOS process.

The Usefulness Assessment of Verifying Daily Output by Using CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ (CHECKMATE$^{TM}$를 이용한 일일 출력 검증의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: In this study, we tried to check the usefulness of two Linear Accelerators, Clinac IX and 21EX (Varian, Palo Alto, CA), which are equipped in Ajou Medical Center. From 2008 to 2010, we evaluated the error range of Absolute Dose based on the daily output, which was measured by CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ (Sun Nuclear, Melbourne, FL). Materials and Methods: For Daily Q.A, photon beams of two linear accelerators, 21EX and IX (6 MV and 10 MV, respectively) were measured daily by using CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ just before the treatment began, while the absolute dose was measured biweekly by using water phantom. We analyzed the data of measured values from the daily Q.A and the absolute dose from 2008 to 2010 for 21EX, and from 2009 to 2010 for IX. We utilized Excel 2007 (Microsoft, USA) to evaluate Average, Standard deviation and Confidence level of the data. Furthermore, in order to check the measured values of CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ and the significance of absolute dose, each error value was compared and analyzed. Results: During the observation period, the output of two equipment's absolute dose increased in process of time and in both 6 MV and 10 MV, there was a similar increasing trend. In addition, the error rate of the measured value of CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ and the value of absolute dose were under 0.34, which means that there is a similarity relationship between the two measured values. After checking that the measured value of CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ increased, We measured the absolute dose to adjust that. When the error range was close to 2~3%, the number of changing the output was four for 21EX and three for IX. Conclusion: As a result of measuring and analyzing the daily output changes for two years by using CHECKMATE$^{TM}$, we could find that there is a significance between the output which we should obey during Q.A, and the measured value of absolute dose within the error tolerance of 2~3%. Thus, the use of CHECKMATE$^{TM}$ can be positively considered for more efficient and reliable daily output verification of linear accelerator. It can also be a good standard for other medical centers to understand the trends of linear accelerator and to refer to for the correction of each output.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a method to optimize the performance of Digital Radiography (DR) by analyzing the effect of exposure time change on the stability of radiation output and image quality. The experimental method was used to change the exposure time to 50 msec, 100 msec, 200 msec, and 400 msec so that the Percentage Average Error (PAE), Time-to-Radiation Dose Curve, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Contrast to Noise Ratio (CNR) and theses analysis were performed to evaluate the normal operation of parameters, radiation output and image quality. As a result, all the parameters used in the experiment showed the Percentage Average Error in the normal range, and the shorter the exposure time, the stability of radiation output and image quality decrease. In conclusion, it was found that the performance of Digital Radiography can be optimized when stable radiation output and image quality are applied by applying 100 msec ~ 200 msec exposure time.

A low-Gain Error Amplifier for Common-Mode Feedback Circuit (Common Mode Feedback 회로를 위한 저 증폭도 에러증폭기)

  • An effective technique to increase the signal swing and reduce noise is to use fully-differential -circuits. However, design of a common-mode feedback (CMFB) circuit that stabilizes the common-mode output level is essential. In this paper, a general description is given to fully-differential amplifiers with their CMFB loops, then a new error amplifier that is just composed of transistors and stabilizes the DC output level is proposed. We designed a simple and efficient bias circuit that allows the stability and maximum input swing. Simulation result shows the enhanced phase margin and increased differential-mode input swing with a proposed error amplifier.

A Multi-layer Bidirectional Associative Neural Network with Improved Robust Capability for Hardware Implementation (성능개선과 하드웨어구현을 위한 다층구조 양방향연상기억 신경회로망 모델)

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-layer associative neural network structure suitable for hardware implementaion with the function of performance refinement and improved robutst capability. Unlike other methods which reduce network complexity by putting restrictions on synaptic weithts, we are imposing a requirement of hidden layer neurons for the function. The proposed network has synaptic weights obtainted by Hebbian rule between adjacent layer's memory patterns such as Kosko's BAM. This network can be extended to arbitary multi-layer network trainable with Genetic algorithm for getting hidden layer memory patterns starting with initial random binary patterns. Learning is done to minimize newly defined network error. The newly defined error is composed of the errors at input, hidden, and output layers. After learning, we have bidirectional recall process for performance improvement of the network with one-shot recall. Experimental results carried out on pattern recognition problems demonstrate its performace according to the parameter which represets relative significance of the hidden layer error over the sum of input and output layer errors, show that the proposed model has much better performance than that of Kosko's bidirectional associative memory (BAM), and show the performance increment due to the bidirectionality in recall process.

  • In this paper, finite element analysis of a cycloidal pitch reducer for a 2 MW-class wind turbine is reviewed. The system is composed of one cycloid set, one spur gear set, an input shaft, an output shaft, and a housing. The system was also evaluated for stability by analyzing spur gear strength according to ISO 6336. An analysis of the natural vibration characteristics of the 2 MW-class wind turbine cycloid pitch reducer was performed with attention to critical speed with input mass unbalance, output mass unbalance, spur gear transmission error, cycloid gear transmission error, and excitation frequency.

A Estimated Neural Networks for Adaptive Cognition of Nonlinear Road Situations (굴곡있는 비선형 도로 노면의 최적 인식을 위한 평가 신경망)

  • A new estimated neural networks are proposed in order to measure nonlinear road environments in realtime. This new neural networks is Error Estimated Neural Networks. The structure of it is similar to recurrent neural networks; a delayed output as the input and a delayed error between the output of plant and neural networks as a bias input. In addition, we compute the desired value of hidden layer by an optimal method instead of transfering desired values by backpropagation and each weights are updated by RLS(Recursive Least Square). Consequently, this neural networks are not sensitive to initial weights and a learning rate, and have a faster convergence rate than conventional neural networks. We can estimate nonlinear models in realtime by the proposed networks and control nonlinear models. To show the performance of this one, we control 7 degree simulation, this controller and driver were proved to be effective to drive a car in the environments of nonlinear road systems.

  • In order to achieve high performance vector control, it is essential to measure accurate ac current. The errors generated from current path are inevitable, and they could be divided into two categories: offset error and scaling error. The current data including these errors cause periodic speed ripples which are one and two times of stator electrical frequency respectively. Since these undesirable ripples bring about bad influences to motor driving system, a compensation algorithm must be needed in the control algorithm of the motor drive. In this paper, a new compensation algorithm is proposed. The signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator is chosen and processed to compensate the current measurement errors. The compensation of the current measurement errors is easily implemented to smooth the signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator by subtracting the DC offset value or rescaling the gain of the hall sensor. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has several features: the robustness of the variation of the mechanical parameters, the application of the steady and transient state, the easy implementation, and less computation time.
