수자직 복합재료 단위구조의 마크로요소해석 (Unit Cell Analysis of Satin Weave Composites Using Macroelements)

  • Unit cell analyses were peformed to study the engineering properties of satin weave textile composites. Two 5-harness satin weave layers with fiber tow shifts were modeled by unit cells and repeating boundary conditions were applied at the outer surface of the unit cells. Multi-field macroelements were employed to consider the microstructure details and to effectively reduce computer memory requirements. Preliminary results indicated that the engineering properties of 5-harness satin weave textile composites can vary significantly according to the manner how the adjacent fiber tows were arranged in stacking.

In-water SONAR shell transmitter simulation using a coupled FE-BE method

  • This article describes the application of a coupled finite element-boundary element method to obtain the steady-state response of a sonar transducer. The particular structure considered is a flooded piezoelectric spherical shell. The sonar shell is simulated to be driven by electrical charges applied onto inner and outer surfaces of the shell. It is shown that at relatively low input frequency a beam pattern which is almost close to omnidirection can be obtained. The coupled FE-BE method is described in detail.

  • Modified Lagrange functional for solving an elastic problem with a crack is considered. Two formulations of a crack problem are investigated. The first formulation concerns a problem where a crack extending to the outer boundary of the domain. In the second formulation, we consider a problem with an internal crack. Duality ratio is established for initial and dual problem in both cases.

Let ${\beta}$ be a slope in ${\partial}_1M$ and suppose that $M({\beta})$ is toroidal. Let $\hat{T}$ be a minimal essential torus in $M({\beta})$, which means that $\hat{T}$ is pierced a minimal number of times by the core of the ${\beta}$-Dehn filling, among all essential tori in $M({\beta})$. GPU 가속을 이용한 정밀밀한 스웹 볼륨 경계 계산 (Precise Sweep Volume Computation Accelerated by GPU)

  • 본 논문에서는 삼각형 메시의 스웹 볼륨 표면을 정밀하고 안정적으로 계산하는 GPU 알고리즘을 제안한다. 삼각형 메시의 기하 요소들을 스웹하여 근사적으로 삼각형 집합을 생성하고, 이 집합의 엔벨롭을 계산하면 스웹 볼륨의 최외곽 경계 표면을 얻을 수 있다. 엔벨롭을 찾기 위하여 우리는 삼각형 집합의 공간 분할을 계산하고 그 분할의 최외곽 경계를 추출하였다. 알고리즘의 안정성을 확보하기 위하여 우리는 스웹 정점들을 초기에 랜덤 섭동하는 방법과 다중 정밀도 구간 연산 기법을 적용하였다. 전체 알고리즘은 대부분의 계산을 GPU에서 처리하도록 구현되었고, 결과적으로 기존 알고리즘에 비해 수십~수백 배의 성능을 보여준다.

Self-Identification of Boundary's Nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • The wireless sensor networks (WSNs) became a very essential tool in borders and military zones surveillance, for this reason specific applications have been developed. Surveillance is usually accomplished through the deployment of nodes in a random way providing heterogeneous topologies. However, the process of the identification of all nodes located on the network's outer edge is very long and energy-consuming. Before any other activities on such sensitive networks, we have to identify the border nodes by means of specific algorithms. In this paper, a solution is proposed to solve the problem of energy and time consumption in detecting border nodes by means of node selection. This mechanism is designed with several starter nodes in order to reduce time, number of exchanged packets and then, energy consumption. This method consists of three phases: the first one is to detect triggers which serve to start the mechanism of boundary nodes (BNs) detection, the second is to detect the whole border, and the third is to exclude each BN from the routing tables of all its neighbors so that it cannot be used for the routing.

  • This paper is aimed at determining the e-field distribution by apply voltage of air void, which can be generate air void in the XLPE cable for ultra high voltage. E-field distribution had an effect in XLPE due to the type and position of void, compared and studied. This method of analysis is based on the quasi-static electromagnetic 3D simulation program by boundary element method (BEM): Applied AC 3[kV], discretization of 2000 elements, 4 angular periodicity, The result of experiment indicate that E-field distribution appeared the highest levels on the void position of electrode 2[nm] outer boundary and shape of the smallest inner angle in the void. This will serve to explain the XLPE cable degradation studied of possible, connected cable variation of position and shape of void effects to e-field concentration.

  • Rectangular box type structures are used in many fields of civil, mechanical and marine engineering. Especially, Most ship structures are often in contact with inner or outer fluid, like ballast, fuel and stem tanks. Fatigue damages are sometimes observed in these tanks which seem to be caused by resonance with exciting force of engine and propeller. Vibration characteristics of these thin walled tanks in contact with fluid near engine and propeller are strongly affected by added mass of containing fluid. Therefore it is essentially important to estimate the added mass effect to predict vibration of the tanks. Many authors have studied vibration of rectangular tanks containing fluid. Few research on dynamic interaction among tank walls filled with fluid are reported in the vibration of rectangular tanks recently. In case of rectangular tanks, structural coupling between adjacent panels and effect of vibration modes of multiple panels on added mass of water have to be considered. In the previous report, a numerical analysis is performed for the coupling effect between panels of a tank on added mass of containing fluid, the effect of structural constraint between panels on each vibration mode for fluid region, and mode characteristics in accordance with changing breadth of the plates by using finite element method for plates and boundary element method for fluid region. In this paper, the coupling effect between panels of a tank on added mass of containing fluid, the effect of structural constraint between panels on each vibration mode for fluid region, and mode characteristics in accordance with changing length, thickness, and boundary condition of the plates are investigated numerically and discussed.

렘 콜하스 건축의 장소적 특성과 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on features and Interpretation of Placeness of Rem Koolhaas' Architecture)

  • This study analyzes the place of modem architecture based on the place theory of C. N, Schultz. For applying Schultz's theory to the modern architecture, It is required to examine the modern cityscape, features of inner space of architecture and features of program. By analyzing the avant-garde architecture of Rem Koolhaas on such basis, the potentiality of placeness of modern architecture could be verified and the alternatives would be searched. It is inferred that the placeness features of Rem Koolhaas' public architecture is under the influence of the interpretation of program based on the humane background rather than the physical aspects of surroundings. The inner space shows the non-linear features, the metaphor of city. The obscurity of physical boundary illustrates the flexible features with ambiguous boundary. Consequently, the inner space expresses the surreal atmosphere that doesn't match the purposes of usage of architecture, the traditional concept. The outer shape is recognized as the by-product from the interpretation of internal program rather than it considered the surrounding context. The outer shape has the relatively simple formative shape and contrasts against the complicated inner space by using the non-physical materials. It is found that Koolhaas' architecture doesn't pursue the features of placeness of traditional concept. However, It is inferred that his architecture has the possibility of placeness by attaching the meaning through the social roles of each architecture. It gives the substantial suggestion to the modern architecture that can't easily acquire the placeness of traditional concept due to the environment of modern city.

탄성층에 삽입된 음향 하이드로폰의 외부 유입소음 영향 연구 (Investigation of Outer Flow Noise Reduction of the Hydrophones Embedded in the Elastomer)

  • 수중에서 UUV(Unmanned Underwater Vehicle)에 장착되는 수중 음향 센서 배열은 UUV의 측면이나 전면에 부착하여 외부 신호를 탐지하게 된다. 이러한 센서 배열은 UUV의 특성상 곡면배열(Conformal array) 형태이며 유체 유기 소음의 영향을 받는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 탄성층에 삽입된 하이드로폰이 외부 유입 소음의 영향을 받는 정도를 해석하였다. 유입 소음은 난류 경계층에서 발생하는 Corcos 모델을 이용하였고 주파수 밀도 함수를 이용하여 수치해석 하였다. x-방향의 파수인 kx에 다른 전달함수의 특성은 탄성층의 두께가 커질수록 전달함수의 적분값은 적어지므로 소음의 영향은 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 탄성층 및 고정판의 탄성계수, 밀도 등의 변화가 전달함수 값의 변화를 일으키는지를 조사하였다. 향후 이러한 연구는 UUV에 장착되는 곡면 배열 센서의 설계에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
