  • We have developed control electronics to operate flux-locked loop (FLL), and analog signal filters to process FLL outputs for 64-channel Double Relaxation Oscillation SQUID (DROS) magnetocardiography (MCG) system. Control electronics consisting of a preamplifier, an integrator, and a feedback, is compact and low-cost due to larger swing voltage and flux-to-voltage transfer coefficients of DROS than those of dc SQUIDs. Analog signal filter (ASF) serially chained with a high-pass filter having a cut-off frequency of 0.1 Hz, an amplifier having a gain of 100, a low-pass filter of 100 Hz, and a notch filter of 60 Hz makes FLL output suitable for MCG. The noise of a preamplifier in FLL control electronics is $7\;nV/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 1 Hz, $1.5\;nV/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 100 Hz that contributes $6\;fT/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 1 Hz, $1.3\;fT/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 100 Hz in readout electronics, and the noise of ASF electronics is $150\;{\mu}V/{\surd}\;Hz$ equivalent to $0.13\;fT/{\surd}\;Hz$ within the range of $1{\sim}100\;Hz$. When DROSs are connected to readout electronics inside a magnetically shielded room, the noise of 64-channel DROS system is $10\;fT/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 1 Hz, $5\;fT/{\surd}\;Hz$ at 100 Hz on the average, low enough to measure human MCG.

  • In this paper, we present the design and analyze the transmission rate of a control algorithm for the client buffer on the VOD systems. The design is based on the server's data transmission rate and clients' data consumption rate. The proposed algorithm stabilizes the client's buffer by reducing the oscillation phenomena of the buffer. And it uses the BCT (Buffer Check Time) to reduce the scheduling load of the client system. The client's data consumption rate and the buffer size are calculated on the basis of BCT. In case that the predicted buffer size operates in the overrun or starvation the buffer. As the load fluctuation of the network, the transmission rate control policy cannot stabilize the client's buffer alone. The media scaling policy, therefore, also performs its complementary part in stabilizing the client's buffer, and performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm is provided through simulation.

  • The data mining design incorporated with big data based cloud computing system is investigated for the nuclear terrorism prevention where the conventional physical protection system (PPS) is modified. The networking of terror related bodies is modeled by simulation study for nuclear forensic incidents. It is needed for the government to detect the terrorism and any attempts to attack to innocent people without illegal tapping. Although the mathematical algorithm of the study can't give the exact result of the terror incident, the potential possibility could be obtained by the simulations. The result shows the shape oscillation by time. In addition, the integration of the frequency of each value can show the degree of the transitions of the results. The value increases to -2.61741 in 63.125th hour. So, the terror possibility is highest in later time.

  • The present study addresses the flow characteristics involved in the self-induced oscillations of the underexpanded jet impinging upon a cylindrical body. Both experiment and computational analysis are carried out to elucidate the shock motions of the self-induced oscillations and to find the associated major flow factors. The underexpanded sonic jet is made from a nozzle and a cylindrical body is placed downstream to simulate the impinging jet upon an obstacle. The computational analysis using TVD scheme is applied to solve the axisymmetric, unsteady, inviscid governing equations. A Schlieren system is employed to visualize the self-induced oscillations generated in flow field. The data of the shock motions are obtained from a high-speed video system. The detailed characteristics of the Mach disk oscillations and the resulting pressure variations are expatiated using the time dependent data of the Mach disk positions. The mechanisms of the self-induced oscillations are discussed in details based upon the experimental and computational results.

  • In this study, squeal noise test was conducted by using the lab-scaled brake dynamometer. Squeal conditions with respect to the angle of the brake pads ($34^{\circ}30^{\circ}26^{\circ}$) and negative slope, were studied. Squeal frequency of the In-plane-like mode was confirmed by hammering test and finite element analysis. This Squeal mode was difficult to control by the pad angle variation. Also the squeal sound was found to be periodic signal which has higher harmonic components. Squeal noise is independent of the negative slope. It implies that squeal noise can reach the stick-slip oscillation.

  • A technique for realizing linear phase IIR filters has been proposed by Powell-Chau which gives a real-time implementation of H(z-1).H(z), where H(z) is a causal nonlinear phase IIR filter. Powell-Chau system is linear but not timeinvariant system. Therefore, that system has group delay response that exhibits a minor sinusoidal variation superimposed on a constant value. In the signal processing, this oscillation seriously degrade the signal quality. Unfortunately, that system has a large sample delay of 4L and also more computational complexity. Proposed system is present a reduced computational complexity technique by moved the numerator polynomial of H(1/z) out to cascade with causal filter H(z) and remain only all-pole of H(1/z), then applied truncated infinite impulse response to finite with truncated IIR filtel $H_L$(z) and L sample delay to subtract the output sequence from the top and bottom filter. Proposed system is linear time invariance and group delay response and total harmonic distortion are also improved.

  • The proposed scheme is based on the modified perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm combined with the sliding mode technique. A modified P&O algorithm based sliding mode controller is developed to study the effects of partial shade, temperature, and insolation on the performance of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) used in photovoltaic (PV) systems. Under partially shaded conditions and temperature, the energy conversion efficiency of a PV array is very low, leading to significant power losses. Consequently, increasing efficiency by means of MPPT is particularly important. Conventional techniques are easy to implement but produce oscillations at MPP. The proposed method is applied to a model to simulate the performance of the PV system for solar energy usage, which is compared to the conventional methods under non-uniform insolation improving the PV system utilization efficiency and allowing optimization of the system performance. The modified perturb and observe sliding mode controller successfully overcomes the issues presented by non-uniform conditions and tracks the global MPP. Compared to MPPT techniques, the proposed technique is more efficient; it produces less oscillation at MPP in the steady state, and provides more precise tracking.

  • This paper deals with the frequency sensing methods at HVDC system. The objects of frequency information in HVDC system areto fire a valve and to control a frequency of AC network. Conventionally, there are two methods to measure a frequency of AC network. The first method is to draw out from the synchronous machine and the second method is from AC network. Two methods have advantages and disadvantage each other. For the extreme case of a receiving system of zero inertia (no generation), synchronous machine is essential. In this situation, the frequency information received from the synchronous machine shaft. However, the speed of synchronous machine is oscillated when a disturbance in AC network occurs, and HVDC may be oscillated due to an oscillation speed. To solve this drawback, in this paper, new frequency sensing method is proposed. A proposed method that is use a modified curve-fitting algorithm, has a robust characteristics against a harmonics and unbalanced faults. Consequently, A proposed method is verified by PSCAD/EMTDC Program and experimental test.

  • A computation was made to predict the movement of the thrust center position due to the rocket nozzle deflection. Three dimensional computations were done for the nozzle deflection angles of 0/1/3 degrees, and the oscillation of aerodynamic coefficients, not observed for the axisymmetric cases, was encountered. The position of the thrust center was found to be at -16 mm and -4 mm for the deflection angles of 1 and 3 degrees, respectively, and it can be concluded that the thrust center movement due to nozzle deflection is negligible. In addition to the computational results, the mechanism of thrust generation in a rocket engine is described with a brief mathematical derivation as it is sometimes mistaken. Also presented are some descriptions on the problem of pressure center definition for symmetric cases such as a rocket external flow problem and the nozzle deflection case.
