Objectives : There are a lot of food used herb medicine among the people in order to cure diseases. A medicinal gruel is the easiest and most universal among alimmentotherapy. The purpose of this thesis is to understand a medicinal gruel therapy. Methods: I researched the definition, history, ingredients, application and special feature. Result and conclusion : A medicinal gruel therapy is alimmentotherapy for diseases prevent and diseases treatment which get mixed with her medicine and rice, based on oriental medicine theory. A medicinal gruel therapy was put on record in ${\ll}$A historical book${\gg}$. A medicinal gruel therapy can be used in chronic diseases, convalescent stage, assistant treatment for acute disease, disease prevention, aging prevention, diet food and substitute food for breakfast.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to introduce oriental medicine music therapy during the acupuncture of pathogenic fire. Methods : We investigated the acupuncture points of pathogenic fire and the methodology of oriental medicine music therapy. Results : During the acupuncture of pathogenic fire, patients listen to proper music and after withdrawing of acupuncture, patients play the musical instrument. The patients with the case of fire due to affection by exopathogen, the method of dispelling superficial fire can be used through playing percussion instruments. The case of patients with the fire of five organ, the Five Phases music can be used properly. Conclusions : This study describes oriental medicine music therapy has a good possibility as a treatment of pathogenic fire with acupuncture.

Objective : Stroke is the most frequent cause of death in Korea. Because it remains severe disablities disturbing normal life, it is important to carry out intervention preventing from progression of condition in patients with acute ischemic stroke within therapeutic time window. Thus early thrombolysis is beneficial for patients with acute ischemic stroke. However its therapeutic efficacy is not known in combination with oriental medical therapy. In this study, we investigated the safety and the clinical effect of continous intravenous urokinase therapy and oriental medical therapy. Methods : Twenty eight patients with acute onset of ischemic stroke no later than three days received continous infusion of urokinase and oriental medical therapy. We estimated the subjects's neurological deficit and functional status with National institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke Scale(NIHSS) and Europian Stroke Scale (ESS) prior to therapy, on day 3, 7, 14 after the starting urokinase therapy and on day at discharge. Results: After day 7, the scores of NIHSS and ESS were improved significantly. There are no differences in therapeutic effects of the interval between onset of stroke and initiation of therapy. Complication were noted in four(14%) patients, but these are not fatal complication and make no neurological deficiency. Conclusion : The results of these investment suggest that continuous intravenous urokinase with oriental medical therapy could be a safe and effective intervention to prevent from progression in acute ischemic stroke. But this findings should be confirmed in multicenter double blind controlled trial.

Objective : There is no case report on the Idiopathic Conjunctive treated by CHUNA manual therapy in oriental medicine. We experienced a patient with the Idiopathic Conhunctivitis improved by CHUNA manual therapy in X-ray imagine and visual analogue scale(VAS), and we report It. Methods : During the patient with the Idiopathic Conjunctivitis was treated CHUNA manual therapy, we examined cervial X-ray and evaluated the patient's symptoms by VAS and counting eye drop. And we observed whether the change exist or not in X-ray. Result : Symptoms(Red eye, eye xerosis) was improved significally, and the X -ray image was improved. Conclusion : Conjunctivitis was generally treated steroid eye drop and conservative treatment. But CHUNA manual therapy may be more effective in the Idiopathic Conjunctivitis, if more clinical studies and researchs are accomplished.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to introduce oriental medicine music therapy related to the treatment of ADHD. Methods This study observed ADHD from the oriental medical point of view and tried to treat this disease with the oriental medicine music therapy. Results ADHD is caused by excess of Yang energy, flaming-up of fire, blood deficiency of the heart and the spleen, deficiency of the kidney essence, and instability of emotions. The ADHD patients with the case of excess of Yang energy and flaming-up of fire, patients were played Fire-Gi rhythm as a treatment, and they listened to Metal-Gi music. Whereas, the ADHD patient with blood deficiency of the heart and the spleen, invigoration of vital energy music therapy can be used. Another case of ADHD patients with deficiency of the kidney, Water-Gi rhythm and replenishing vital essence music therapy can be used. According to the patients' seven modes of emotions, the proper music should be chosen. Conclusions Oriental medicine music therapy can be a new type of treatment for ADHD patients.

Good health and longevity are the goal of human beings. Dietary treatment for the improvement of health and chronic diseases therapy has been occupied an important position in Oriental and Western medicine. In this paper, the viewpoints of dietary treatment in Oriental and Western medicine were compared. The principle of Yin-Yang and five elements, as a standing rule that establishes the theory of Oriental medicine and origin of the oriental philosophy, it provides the based of the Oriental medicine's outlook of the world. The principles of dietary treatment in Oriental medicine was reasonable combination of food, balance of Oh-Mi and temperance of food. Nutritional therapy in Oriental medicine has done the phase of Bian Zheng by individual characteristics. The theory of Yin-Yang and five elements, Ki-Mi, Sasang Constitution Medicine and Kyi-Kyung were obviously recognized the theory of nutrition therapeutics in Oriental medicine. In Western medicine, dietary treatment supplies individuals with a recipe of calorie and specific nutrients. The Food Exchange System was very convenient way of practice in nutrition therapy. But each of dietary treatment in Oriental and Western nutrition has strong and week points. So we need to study enough materials to treatment of Oriental nutrition and Western nutrition for the improvement of health and chronic diseases therapy.

The Mandala art therapy is used as a clinical method for helping patients to perceive their internal existence and to maintain harmonious between body and mind. Despite the fact that Mandala is congruous with the oriental philosophy, there are few studies that approach Mandala from the view point of the oriental medicine. Method : This study looks into the Maudala art therapy from the perspective of Yin-Yang Wuxiug(陰陽五行) and examines the possibility of using Mandala art therapy in the oriental medical practice. Results : In Analyzing the symbols of Mandala, the lines can be interpreted in terms of Yin and Yang, and the preferences for colors and the style of expression can be interpreted in terms of the body organs associated with colors and emotions in Wuxing. In addition, the clinical effects of Mandala, such as body-mind harmony and self-examination, are congruous with the Suncbeondo(先天圖) of the oriental medicine primer. Conclusion : The Mandala art therapy bas a potential to be used for medical diagnosis and treatment in the oriental medicine. Therefore, it is necessary to research and develop various Mandala art programs and assess their effectiveness through applications to medical cases.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the present medical treatment in Korean oriental pediatrics. Methods : We selected 24 hospitals attached to 11 colleges of oriental medicine those stand for oriental pediatrics. We sent questionnaires of medical treatment for investigation and analyzed 15 copies of those were answered. Results : The most popular treatment was medicinal therapy. Acupuncture with medicinal therapy was not used as much, but laser acupuncture was used five times more in rhinitis. The frequency of using moxibustion and cupping were less than acupuncture and moxibustion was used as indirectly. Aroma therapy was the third most frequent therapy after medicinal therapy and acupuncture therapy. Aroma therapy was mainly used as a vapor inhalation and massage. 16 of the answered that the most popular exercise therapy would be by providing exercise guidebook and 11 of them said writing exercise diary, and 5 of them said by using exercise machine in the hospital. Conclusions : The most popular oriental therapy in Korea was medicinal therapy and next following were aroma therapy and moxibustion, cupping which is one of the traditional therapies in Korean oriental medicine.

A literature study on oncological immune therapy was done, and the results were as follows. 1. Oncological immune therapy is classified as specific non specific therapy or active inactive therapy, and in tumor immune response, cellular immunity operates mainly, so activity of T lymphocytes and macrophages are closely related with growth, progress, metastasis and prospect of tumor. Recently, Immune therapies of gene which use cytokines and HLA-B7 are carrying out. 2. In oriental medicine, development of disease is closely related to up and down of healthy qi, so healthy qi operates as a immune factor and resistance factor. 3. On the base of theory "Increasing healthy qi reduces mass(養正則積自除)", strengthening body resistance is emphasized in cancer therapy. Also strengthening body resistance activates cellular immune response and promote killing tumor facility of T-cell. 4. In clinical view, using immune therapy after operation, radiation, and chemotheraphy is more effective than immune therapy itself, so it is expected that east-west cooperation will be effective in cancer therapy. 5. The study of oncological immunity is progressed on emphasizing T-cell and it is related to oriental medical theory "strengthening healthy qi to eliminate pathogen(扶定祛邪)" and advanced study is expected in future.

Objectives : This report was performed to evaluated the treatment of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion in herniation of inter-vertebral disc. Methods : We treated 1 case of herniation of inter-vertebral disc with Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion. Results : After 12 days of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion, a remarkable improvement was made for herniation of inter-vertebral disc. The patient couldn't feel pain on walking. Conclusion : Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion were effective in reducing the symptoms.
