Pain disorder is the chronic syndrome that onset and change of pain is associated with mood change. But the patient of pain disorder can't perceive their inner conflict. We experienced a 58 year-old woman who had general pain, and whose condition was improved through oriental medical treatment. In this case, we assessed the pain disorder patient at MMPI. So we learned out the patient's inner conflict and dynamic. The applicability of understanding with MMPI has positive effects on the patient with Panic disorder.

Symptoms of Psychosomatic disease are various. Mamok(麻木), one of that symptoms, is a kind of sensory disorder and similar to numbness but more complicated. In this report, we described two men diagnosed as psychosomatic disease and undifferentiated somatoform disorder. One complained Mamok of his tongue and the other complained it of his right arm and leg. And both of their symptoms were disappeared quickly after treated by Hwa-acupuncture.

Dementia is a syndrome characterized by a decline in multiple fields of cognitive domains. One of etiology of dementia is cerebrovascular disease. This is a case of multi-infarct dementia(MID) patient with functional mental disorders. The patient was treated with scalp acupuncture. After treatment, improvement was seen in cognitive domains.

This study was conducted to evaluate the inflammatory mechanisms of LPS-stimulated BV-2 microglial cells. The inflammation mechanism was evaluated in BV-2 cells with or without LPS treated using the Affymetrix microarray analysis system. The microarray analysis revealed that B cell receptor signaling pathway, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, Jak-STAT signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, Neuro-active ligand-receptor interaction, TLR signaling path-way, and T cell receptor signaling pathway-related genes were up-regulated in LPS stimulated BV-2 cells. Selected genes were validated using real time RTPCR. These results can help an effective therapeutic approach to alleviating the progression of neuro-in-flammatory diseases.

Alcoholic polyneuropathy is a disorder of the peripheral nervous system that interferes with sensory, motor, and autonomic nerve function. This study was to report the effect of Oriental medical treatment on a patient with alcoholic polyneuropathy. Conservative Oriental medical treatment was done to a man of 84 years who was diagnosed as a alcoholic polyneuropathy and suffered from both distal dominant leg weakness & symmetrical paresthesia and ataxic gait. The changes of symptoms, reflexes and sensory test were checked by Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Scoring System(TCNSS). Reflexes, motor and sensory impairments were improved after the Oriental medical treatment. I reported good effects of Oriental medical treatment on alcoholic polyneuropathy. Oriental medical treatment can be helpful to improve the symptoms of alcoholic polyneuropathy.

This study was carried out to survey the contentment of the oriental medical doctors to the present gown which they wear. The objects were the oriental medical doctors who work for the university hospitals and the private clinics. The subjects were mainly the evaluation of the relation to the image of oriental hospital and the gown, the evaluation of the present their gowns and the evaluation on the improvement of their gowns. The collected data were analysed by the frequency, cross-table and $\chi^2$ using SPSS program. The results showed that the oriental medical doctors who work for the university hospital evaluated the difference of the image more important than those who work for the private clinics. Also the former was more than the latter on the necessity of the difference in the gowns between the western and oriental medical doctors. The oriental doctors regarded the tradition as of great importance in the improvement of their gown. More than 70% of them wanted to separate their gown for the spring-summer from that for the autumn-winter.

Meniere's disease is not a life-threatening but lift-altering inner ear disease characterized by episodic vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus and ear fullness. The etiology and pathophysiology symptoms is still disputed. Thereby the treatment of Meniere's disease is empirical. As yet no treatment has prospectively modified the clinical course of condition and thereby prevented the progressive hearing loss. We experienced two cases of Meniere's disease treated with oriental medical treatment, acupuncture and herbal medication. 15 year-old and 23 year old male patients had diagnosed Meniere's disease by western medical doctor. After treatment their vertigo is decreased and the level of hearing loss was rise up. Therefore, oriental medical treatments could be safe and effective methods.

Cough is a very common and largely recurrent childhood respiratory disease. In Korean medicine, Zhudanxi(矢丹溪), was the first to classify cough according to the different stages of time. In this research, I examined the stage of Nocturnal Cough(晨嗽) which refers to cough that occurs at dawn. Indigestion is classified as the cause with SaBaek-san proscribed as the treatment for such cough. In this research, twenty five children who had coughing at dawn with abdominal symptoms were treated with Sabaek-san-kamibang and then examined for cough, abdominal symptoms and other related symptoms. As a result, there was a statistically notable decrease in cough, abdominal symptoms and other symptoms such as nasal discharge, sputum, constipation, vomiting and cough. In addition, of the twenty five patients found with acute cough and those with moderate cough with abdominal symptoms showed good clinical results upon completion of treatment.

Objectives : This study is designed in order to evaluate oriental medical treatment of deveation of the eye and mouth caused trauma. Methods : The authors observed patient by Yanagihara's unweighted grading system for operated acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine treatment and physiotherapy. Conclusion : 1. Deveation of the eye and mouth is caused by trauma ; intra cranial trauma, intra temporal bone trauma, extra, temporal bone trauma, etc. Cardinal symptom is palsy of Facial muscle, slobbering, articulation disorder, epiphora, ear pain, hyperacusis, laterality hypogeusia. 2. Deveation of the eye and mouth patient by Lt. temporal bone Fx. is seen evaluate of Yanagihara's total score ; from S to 35. 3. Deveation of the eye and mouth patient by facial nerve inhury is seen evaluate of Yanagihara's total score ; from 10 to 30. 4. Traumatic Deveation of the eye and mouth patient evaluate by oriental medical treatmend ; acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine treatment and physiotherapy. This is based on sil(賞) of stomach channel of foot yangming & larhe intestine channel of hand Yangming.

An empirical formula that has been empirically shown to be effective for a particular condition can be said to add medicinal materials to an existing formula or to make a new prescription by the Korean medical doctors' empirical clinic. This dissertation aims to study the prescriptions according to A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family written by the writer's ancestor and to contribute to the development of Korean medicine. A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family is a medicinal recipe that is an heirloom of the Gyeongju Kim family for the eighth generation. And the date and the writer of the book are unknown. The contents of the book consist of 18 parts and are made up of about 300 medical recipes. Of these, 158 formulas and indications of cold damage, wind, urination, stool, jaundice, and internal injury are found in the book. From among these, 61 formulas was directly quoted out of The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine, 97 formulas are adjusted in proportion or combined. By the parity of reasoning of the above, I think that this book was published after The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine. I will continue to study other formulas except the formulas above mentioned.
