We made a comparative study, A patient who had suffered dizziness and ataxia took Hyungbangsabaek-san(荊防瀉白散) at first and next took Hyungbangdojeock-san(荊防導赤散). He was diagnosed as a Soyangin suffering chest knotting syndrome(結胸證) by Sasang constitutional medicine(四象醫學) and took two kinds of herbs in a row. We observed his phase of dizziness and ataxia with the conditions of stool and urine excavation, pink eye, sweating, and tongue color and tongue coating. When he took Hyungbangdojeock-san these conditions improved more than when he took the other one and his dizziness and ataxia also improved. Hyungbangdojeock-san was more useful when the severity of the disease was shallower and he had more exterior syndromes than Hyungbangsabaek-san.

Renal failure means irreversible damage and depression of renal function, represented by glomerular filtration rate(GFR). A renal failure patient with uremia and anemia is presented. Anemia, in this patient, appeared before uremia did. A 55 year-old male patient was treated for renal failure with Weilingtang. Improvement was observed in, not only GFR, blood urea nitrogen(BUN), and creatinine, but also in such symptoms as difficulty in urine excretion, dyspepsia and abdominal swelling. But anemia appeared during treatment, so a mixture of Dangguibuxuetang(當歸補血湯) and Xiongguitang(芎歸湯) was prescribed. After this treatment, improvement in hemoglobin, and hematocrit was observed.

In western medicine, there are some reports about herbal medicine induced hepatitis, but in oriental medicine, there are few reports about that. We experienced one case of drug acute cholestatic-hepatitis in the treatment of oriental medicine for HNP. We treated the patient with acupuncture, physical therapy and herb medicine. The patient's symptoms improved after two weeks of treatment. In the course of treatment, the patient intermittently complained of general weakness, nausea, yellowish urin, dyspepsia, and abdominal discomfort. We recognized that total bilirubin(7.2mg/dl), direct bilirubin(5.5mg/dl), serum transaminase(AST 360U/L, ALT 354U/L), alkaline phosphatase(16.6 K/A), urobilinogen(++) and bilirubin(++) were elevated. We diagnosed drug induced hepatitis. We stopped giving herb medicine and began giving Saeng gan gunbi-tang and Injin-oryung-san. Saeng gan gunbi-tang and Injin-oryung-san have been used to treat hepatic disease and have been known to have beneficial effects. After 3weeks on medication, the clinical symptoms and liver function improved. So, we report this case to bring more attention to the safety and toxicity of herbal medicine.

A Case of dizziness treated with Singi-hwan is reported. Singi-hwan is an herbal formula historically used for Jing(精) deficiency in Traditional Korean Medicine and dizziness is a common symptom presented in patients with Jing(精) deficiency. An elderly patient diagnosed with senile dizziness was treated using Singi-hwan for ten consecutive days in Dunsan Oriental Hospital, and has shown positive outcome.

Conversion Disorder is a disorder whose predominant feature is a loss or alteration in physical functioning that suggests a physical disorder but that is actually a direct expression of a psychological conflict or need. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV (DSM-IV) guidelines for Conversion Disorder include these definitions: A psychosocial stressor produces a psychological conflict that is believed to help initiate or exacerbate the illness The symptoms are not under conscious control, etc. While functional disabilities are common with conversion disorders, physical and laboratory abnormalities are absent or minor in comparison with the patient's subjective complaints. Symptoms of Conversion Disorder are similar to those of stroke. But the mechanism of Conversion Disorder is similar as that of Stagnation Syndrome of Ki (氣鬱證) in Oriental medicine. Gaegyeolseogyeong-tang has been used to treat women who suffer from Conversion Disorder induced by the Stagnation Syndrome of Ki (氣鬱證). After application of the Gaegyeolseogyeong-tang for 7 days, symptoms and signs improved dramatically.

Objective: This case study describes the use of traditional Korean medicine to relieve chest pain and headaches in a patient with ischemic heart disease. Methods: The patient was treated with a range of traditional Korean medicine, including acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicines (Gamiondam-tang and Cheonmabanhwa-tang-gagambang). The Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) was used to measure the patient's status and improvements in the frequency of symptoms. Results: After the treatment, the NRS score for chest pain and headaches decreased from 6 to 0. In addition, chest discomfort and palpitations almost subsided. Conclusion: This clinical case study suggested that Gamiondam-tang and Cheonmabanhwa-tang-gagambang could be effective in relieving chest discomfort and headaches.

There are different kinds of the pseudo-mass of the gallbladder(GB) such as GB stones, GB polyps, GB sludge, and these can be differentiated by simple-ultrasonogram(USG). The most common symptoms of GB polyps are abdominal pain(RUQ), dyspepsia, jaundice, but usually there are no symptoms. GB polyps are commonly treated with a cholecystectomy if 10 mm or more in diameter. Pseudo-mass of the GB is regarded as products of stagnation of the Liver Ki in Oriental Medicine. The patient suffered from mild fever. abdominal pain(RUQ), and jaundice. He was diagnosed with a GB polyp(10 mm), liver cyst(12 mm) by simple USG. We treated him with Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine(Hoinsamgum-tang). After three days of treatment, the symptoms improved, and after one month the GB polyp was removed on the follow up of USG.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to show the effects Oriental medicine and treatment for aftereffects of Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM). Methods: The 52-year-old woman suffering from CPM showed symptoms of weakness of both extremities, dysarthria, dysphagia and gait disturbance. We treated the patient with oriental medical therapy. Results: After the treatments, overall symptoms of CPM were improved. Conclusions: This study suggests that oriental medical therapy is probably effective in the treatment of CPM.

Anorexia nervosa is a serious, often chronic, and life-threatening eating disorder defined by a refusal to maintain minimal body weight (within 15% of an individual s normal weight). Other essential features of this disorder include an intense fear of gaining weight, a distorted body image, and amenorrhea(absence of at least three consecutive menstrual cycles when they are otherwise expected to occur). With anorexia nervosa, the nails and hair become brittle, and the skin may become dry and yellow. In addition to depression, hypothermia, lanugo, nausea, vomiting, anxiety and dehydration from sweating can appear. Starvation, weight loss, and related medical complications are quite serious and can result in death. Recently one patient was admitted with anorexia nervosa-like symptoms. The patient is a 18-year-old girl with complaints of weight loss, amenorrhea, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, tremor, and sweating. After treatment through oriental medicine for 2 weeks, most of the symptoms improved. Therefore, this application of oriental medicine is reported with a plea for further investigation.

Tolosa-Hunt syndrome is an idiopathic syndrome characterized by the formation of granulation tissue in the anterior cavernous sinus or superior orbital fissure, producing a painful ophthalmoplegia. We experienced a 66-year-old woman whose conditions improved through oriental medical treatment. We treated the patient with herbal medicine Liqiqufeng-san (理氣祛風散) and electro-acupuncture at Cuanzhu (瓚竹, BL2) and Yuyao (魚腰, Extra) acupuncture points with 1${\sim}$50Hz for 15min. After treatment, the patient's symptoms improved considerably. This result suggests that oriental medical treatment has good effect on Tolosa-Hunt syndrome.
