  • Recently, By the climatic change and increased resistance to antibiotics, diseases with atypical fever are increasing. FUO(Fever unknown origin) is defined' as fever persisting for $1{\sim}3weeks$ which origins are not found. through the reports of two clinical cases presenting FUO, I pretend to show the orient-medical and west-medical approachs to FUO.

  • Pomegranate, a small tree originating in Orient, belongs to Punicaceae family. The seeds contain an oil of which about 80% is rare trans 18 carbon fatty acid (punicic acid), and have highest botanical concentration of a sex steroid, estrone. Pharmacological properties of pomegranate extract have been studied, with anti-microbial, anti-parasitic, anti-viral. and anti-cancer effects. (omitted)

  • Skins were manufactured in Korea since the early prehistoric period and were manufac-tured and used from the period of the three Kingdoms and Koryo through the Chosun era. These materials were developed into skins through a tradition of thousand years, . In Korea the Orient Culture of nomadic tribes and Mesopotamia Culture of stock-farming come together and developed these original woolen fabrics and skins culture. In this study the characteristics of Korean skins will be disscussed from the literature survey of the relevant references researched remains and pictures. During the Chosun period skins were fre-quently manufactured and used. Vsarious skins were used as necessites of life such as cloth-ing shoes bedclothes and so on.

  • For two vertices u and v of an oriented graph D, the set I(u, v) consists of all vertices lying on a u-v geodesic or v-u geodesic in D. If S is a set of vertices of D, then I(S) is the union of all sets 1(u, v) for vertices u and v in S. The geodetic number g(D) is the minimum cardinality among the subsets S of V(D) with I(S) = V(D). In this paper, we give a partial answer for the conjecture by G. Chartrand and P. Zhang and present some results on orient able geodetic number.

  • The root of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer is the one of traditional medicines used for many therapeutic purpose in the orient for many years. Polysaccharides isolated from ginseng root were known for mitogenic, antitumor and hypoglycemic activities. We studied the production of ginseng polysaccharides from ginseng hairy roots and compared with natural ginseng root.

  • The study of the integral of the scalar curvature, $A(g)\;=\;{\int}_M\;RdV_9$ as a functional on the set M of all Riemannian metrics of the same total volume on a compact orient able manifold M is now classical, dating back to Hilbert [6] (see also Nagano [8]). Riemannian metric g is a critical point of A(g) if and only if g is an Einstein metric.(omitted)

  • Some or the parameters affecting the thermal analysis of different types of ground tobacco have been discussed. The sample, Korean flue- cured and burley and Greek orient tobacco leaves were run in air at heating rate of $10^{\circ}$ and 20^{\circ}C$ per minute. The thermograms obtained were divided into four temperature zones. The effect of different heating rates on thermal degradation has been discussed At the lower heating rate the maxima of DTA curves in zone 3 and 4 were 25-$40^{\circ}C$ lower than that of the higher heating rate.

  • For the Purpose of this study, were researched the optimum condition preconditioning condition of orient tobacco leaves . The loss of 3-methyl pentanoic acid (3-MP) component of BASMA leaves in the treatment process amount to about 60% , but the loss of 3-MP At the optimum conditions of BASMA CTC treatment, the temperature was 45-$65^{\circ}C$ and the treatment time 25-35 minutes. And further, the physical properties of BASMA after CTC treatment was remarkably similar to the control's. Since VTC minimized the loss, it is suggested that CTC method should be changed by VTC method.

  • Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer has been the most highly recognized medicinal herb in the Orient. The prolonged administration of red ginseng extract significantly inhibited the incidence of hepatoma and also proliferation of pulmonary tumors induced by aflatoxin B$_1$and urethane. Statistically significant anticarcinogenic effects were observed in powders and extract of 6 year-dried fresh ginseng, 5 and 6 year-white ginseng and 4, 5 and 6 year-red ginseng by 9 week medium-term anticarcinogenicity test using benzo[a]pyrene (Yun's model).(omitted)
