Virtual Screening for Potential Inhibitors of NS3 Protein of Zika Virus

  • Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito borne pathogen, belongs to Flaviviridae family having a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome, currently known for causing large epidemics in Brazil. Its infection can cause microcephaly, a serious birth defect during pregnancy. The recent outbreak of ZIKV in February 2016 in Brazil realized it as a major health risk, demands an enhanced surveillance and a need to develop novel drugs against ZIKV. Amodiaquine, prochlorperazine, quinacrine, and berberine are few promising drugs approved by Food and Drug Administration against dengue virus which also belong to Flaviviridae family. In this study, we performed molecular docking analysis of these drugs against nonstructural 3 (NS3) protein of ZIKV. The protease activity of NS3 is necessary for viral replication and its prohibition could be considered as a strategy for treatment of ZIKV infection. Amongst these four drugs, berberine has shown highest binding affinity of -5.8 kcal/mol and it is binding around the active site region of the receptor. Based on the properties of berberine, more similar compounds were retrieved from ZINC database and a structure-based virtual screening was carried out by AutoDock Vina in PyRx 0.8. Best 10 novel drug-like compounds were identified and amongst them ZINC53047591 (2-(benzylsulfanyl)-3-cyclohexyl-3H-spiro[benzo[h]quinazoline-5,1'-cyclopentan]-4(6H)-one) was found to interact with NS3 protein with binding energy of -7.1 kcal/mol and formed H-bonds with Ser135 and Asn152 amino acid residues. Observations made in this study may extend an assuring platform for developing anti-viral competitive inhibitors against ZIKV infection.

미세먼지 농도 및 대중의 인식도가 천식질환 발생빈도에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Impact of Particulate Matter and Public Awareness on the Incidence of Asthma)

  • This study investigates the influence of particulate matter concentrations on the incidence of asthma, focusing on the delayed onset of symptoms and subsequent medical consultations. Analysis incorporates a four-day lag from the initiation of fine dust exposure and compares asthma patterns before and after the World Health Organization's (WHO) classification of fine dust as a Group 1 carcinogen in November 2013. Utilizing daily PM10 data and asthma-related medical visit counts in Seoul from 2008 to 2016, the study additionally incorporates Google search frequencies and newspaper article counts on fine dust to assess public awareness. Results reveal a surge in search frequencies and article publications after WHO announcement, indicating heightened public interest. To standardize the long-term asthma occurrence trend, the daily asthma patient numbers are ratio-adjusted based on annual averages. The analysis uncovers an increase in asthma medical visits 2 to 3 days after fine dust events. Additionally, greater public awareness of fine dust hazards correlates with a significant reduction in asthma occurrence after such events, even within 'normal' fine dust concentrations. Notably, behavioral changes, like limiting outdoor activities, contribute to this decrease. This study highlights the importance of analyzing accumulated medical data over an extended period to identify general public behavioral patterns, deviating from conventional survey methods in social sciences. Future research aims to extend data collection beyond 2016, exploring recent trends and considering the potential impact of decreased fine dust awareness amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

소방공무원의 동기부여와 조직몰입간의 관계 (A Study on the Motivation and Organizational Commitment of Fire Officials)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between motivator, hygiene factor and organizational commitment of fire officials. Method: The subjects of this study were 228 fire officials in Kongju and Choengju province. Data were collected using self-reporting questionnaire during the period from 1st to 25th of February 2006. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program. Real number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated, and t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient were carried out. Result: The findings of this study as follows: The motivator according to job characteristics was statistically significant differences in certificate(F=3.29, p= .002), aptitude(F=15.49, p= .000). The hygiene factors according to job characteristics was statistically significant differences in certificate(F=2.59 p= .01), aptitude(F=6.72, p= .000). The organizational commitment according to general characteristics were statistically significant differences in age(F= 2.625, p= .036), religion(F=3.869, p= .005). The organizational commitment according to job characteristics were statistically significant differences in experience(F=3.746, p= .001), aptitude(F=13.743, p= .000), wish of practice change(F=8.907, p= .000). The commitment was found to be in significant positive correlations with motivator(r= .436, p= .000) and hygiene factors(r= .336, p= .000). Conclusion: From the results, we recommend that the organization management program develops for increasing motivator in fire officials be used.

도로교통소음이 도시환경에 미치는 영향: 토지피복을 중심으로 (Road traffic noise and its impacts on land use and land cover of an urbanized area)

  • 인간이 원치 않는 소리로 정의되는 소음은 크게 직장소음과 환경소음으로 구분될 수 있다. 직장소음은 산업활동이 이루어지는 작업장 내에서 주로 발생하나, 환경소음은 교통, 건설현장, 심지어 이웃에 의해 발생한다. 도로교통소음은 환경소음을 배출하는 주요한 요인으로 인식되고 있고 도시지역에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이를 고려하여, 본 연구는 미국 조지아주의 풀턴 카운티를 대상으로 토지이용별 도로교통소음의 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 미국 연방 도로관리국의 소음전파모델인 교통소음모델(Traffic Noise Model)에 기반한 주 야간 소음지도를 제작하였다. 연구지역의 도로교통소음의 정도를 파악하기 위해 3단계로 구성된 토지피복 유형 자료에 각 소음지도를 중첩하여 각 토지피복 유형별 소음도를 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 연구지역 내 많은 필지와 건물이 허용치를 초과하는 소음에 노출된 것을 확인하였다. 특히 도로교통소음의 영향을 많이 받는 주거지역의 소음도를 줄이기 위한 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

텍스트마이닝을 활용한 연구동향 분석: 소셜네트워크서비스를 중심으로 (Research Trends Investigation Using Text Mining Techniques: Focusing on Social Network Services)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 소셜네트워크서비스 주제에 관한 연구동향을 조사하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 웹오브사이언스 데이터베이스에서 제목에 'Social Network Service(SNS)'를 포함하는 1994년부터 2016년까지 출판된 논문 초록 308편을 분석 하였다. 본 연구에서는 텍스트마이닝 기법 중에서 최근 많이 적용되는 토픽모델링기법을 활용하였다. 토픽모델링 분석결과 20개의 토픽(신뢰, 지지, 만족 모델, 조직 지배구조, 모바일 시스템, 인터넷 마케팅, 대학생 효과, 의견 확산, 고객, 정보보호, 건강관리, 웹 협업, 방법, 학습 효과, 지식, 개인 이론, 아동 지지, 알고리즘, 미디어 참여, 문맥 시스템)이 도출되었다. 또한 시계열회귀분석 결과 모든 토픽은 상승 추세로 나타났다.

공공병원 조직구성원의 직종별 조직성과에 영향을 미치는 융복합적인 요인 (Convergence of factors that affect the job performance of Public Hospitals Employees by Job Category)

  • 본 연구에서는 공공병원 직원의 직종별 의사소통, 동기부여, 상호신뢰감, 근무환경, 공정한 보상, 직무성과 만족의 차이점을 살펴 본 후 조직성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 한다. 이를 통해 공공병원 직원들의 조직성과를 극대화 할 수 있는 대안을 제시 하였다. 조사기간은 2014년 10월 05일부터 10월 31일까지 하였으며, 공공병원에서 근무하고 있는 232명으로부터 자료를 수집하여 분석대상으로 하였다. 분석방법은 ANOVA분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 결론을 보면 직종별로 의사소통, 동기부여, 상호신뢰감, 근무환경, 공정한 보상, 직무성과 만족에서 p<0.05이상에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 조직성과에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 간호직은 의사소통, 공정한 보상(p<0.001)이 진료지원직은 연령, 고용형태(p<0.05), 공정한 보상(p<0.001), 행정직은 동기부여, 공정한 보상(p<0.05)이 조직성과에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 앞으로 병원 직원의 직종별에 대한 효율적인 인적자원관리 시스템이 필요하며, 조직구성들이 소속감을 고취시킬 수 있는 인적자원관리 개선 노력이 선행되어져야 할 것이다.

의료기관 영양서비스 현황 I : 영양부서 조직.인력체계 및 작업생산성 (Hospital Nutrition Services I : Organization, Personnel and Productivity of Nutrition Department)

  • To evaluate the infra structure supporting hospital nutrition services, we conducted a survey on the unit of organization, unit of dietitians work system, number of personnel engaged on nutrition services, productivity of food service, management of dietitians works, computerization of nutrition services etc. Total ninety-six hospitals were participated in the survey, and they were varied in terms of hospital classification, location, number of beds and type of food service management. All of the large hospitals with more than 400 beds conducted nutrition services under the department of nutrition, but some of the middle and small hospitals with less than 400 beds conducted nutrition services under the other department such as administration. In most of the tertiary hospitals, the work of dietitians were separated in which food services and medical nutrition services were conducted independently by different dietitians, whereas, in most of general hospitals and all the hospital, food services and medical nutrition services were conducted by the same dietitians in all time. The numbers of dietitians and cooks per 100 beds were fewer in the large hospitals with more than 400 beds than the hospitals with less than 400 beds, and the number of cooking and meal serving assistants were the just opposit. The average productivity of food service was 44.5 meals per hour for each dietitian, 84.8 meals per hour for a cook and 7.0 meals per hour for a cooking and meal serving assistant. The productivities for dietitians and cooks tend to be higher in large hospitals than middle and small hospitals, whereas the productivities for cooking and meal serving assistants were just opposite. The large hospitals seemed to solve the problem on the lack of working personnels by hiring part-time workers and by utilization of computer system for their works. The pattern of daily work management in food service area was not much different between dietitians duties, but the pattern of daily work management in medical nutrition service area was different in a way which the analysis of patients nutrient intakes was almost not conducted by dietitians handling both food services and medical nutrition services. Therefore, this study demonstrates that there are significant differences in the infra structures conducting nutrition services among hospitals, suggesting that the strategies to improve this improve this structure in relation to the improvement of service qualities need to be investigated in the future. 병원 원가관리자의 원가인식 및 원가체계 구축 방향 (Hospital Cost Analysts' Perception on Prime Cost of Medical Services and Future Direction to Establish a Cost Accounting system)

  • It is necessary to calculate prime cost of medical services accurately in order to evaluate the adequacy of medical fee. This paper aims to identify cost analysts' perception on prime cost of medical services and needs in establishing a cost accounting system in hospitals, proposing future directions and guidelines for the calculation of medical fee. A self-administered questionnaire and telephone survey on operation of a hospital cost-accounting system was conducted in November, 2012, among cost analysts currently working in the hospitals and hospital administrators planning to implement the hospital cost-accounting system. Our study shows that most of the cost analysts were aware of the importance of calculating prime cost and responded that collection of the prime cost data from government is necessary although they are less likely to provide the data in the future concerning the risk of data misuse and data security. They also responded that lack of budget allocation and excessive workload were the main reasons for not estimating the prime cost and operating cost management information system. Results show that hospital cost analysts considered the data accuracy is the most critical factor in calculating prime costs of medical services. However, there was no investment budget allocated in some hospitals or limited to less than 100 million, indicating that hospitals are reluctant to invest on implementing the cost accounting system. Respondents stated the organization that collects the prime cost of medical services among hospitals should display strong analytical capabilities, ensure data security, and maintain independence, which is most demanded. There are 57 hospitals that calculated the prime cost of medical services for 2012 by each medical department and 20 hospitals that calculated the prime cost by fee-for-services, aiming to establish a cost accounting system. Our results indicate that hospitals should voluntarily provide the accurate prime cost for medical services in order to properly evaluate the adequacy of medical fee. Consequently, it is critical to establish an independent organization to collect and appraise the data. It is also recommended that government should implement various policies to encourage hospitals to participate in the data collection to achieve the data accuracy and representativeness.

종합병원 직원의 노동조합성격에 따른 노조몰입 결정요인 (Determinants Influencing Labor Union Commitment of General Hospital Employees' by the Characteristics of Unions)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic materials needed to enhance quality of organizational life by identifying the improvements of labor union management in the perspective of general hospital organization management. The subject of this study were 686 employees in 12 General Hospitals in Metro Capital including Seoul. Materials were collected from administrators, nurses and medical technicians in target hospitals from March 20 to May 10, 2005 through survey questionnaires. The main results of this study were as follows: 1. the commitment level of the subjects according to their characteristics was higher in older employees than the younger ones, large family to support than small family to support and those who had higher positions in labor union. 2. The commitment level of the subjects according to the job and role related variables were higher those who had higher satisfaction level to their job and manager, role conflict in all hospitals. 3. The commitment level of the subjects according to union related variables, variables jointly controlled by union and employer was satistically significant positive correlation. In other words, the commitment level of the subjects according to the subjects' labor union involvement was higher in those who had higher satisfaction in labor union and perceived their colleagues' attitudes more positively in all hospitals. Regarding the atmosphere of the relationship between union and employer and the level of commitment in labor union, the better the atmosphere of the relationship between union and employer was, the higher the level of commitment in labor union was in all hospitals. 4. The results of multiple regression analysis shows that formal and informal socialization, union participation to the union management cooperation program, job satisfaction, satisfaction with the labor union's were all found as important antecedents of labor union commitment. 5. Job and role-related variables, union-related variables, variables jointly controlled by union and employer, and labor union commitment level were all found significantly different in accordance with the characteristics of unions concerned. To summarize study results, the level of commitment in labor union depends on job satisfaction, manager's attitudes, satisfaction to their jobs, union satisfaction, their colleagues attitudes toward union and the atmosphere of employer-employee relationship. Therefore hospital managers should have democratic and flexible attitudes toward labor union. Additionally, as formal and informal socialization, union participation to the union-management cooperation program is important determinant in union commitment, hospital managers should have countermeasures to enhance the colleague attitude and job satisfaction level of hospital employees. Since this study deals with psychological nature of workers not a few drawbacks and shortcomings may be detected in the finding. Nevertheless, the finding of this study, to become a momentum that will stimulate further research to detect all the cues of labor union commitment and to provide valuable reference in forming logical union commitment and labor union-management cooperation.

대학병원 예산시스템의 특성이 예산슬랙에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of University Hospital Budgeting System Characteristics on Budgetary Slack)

  • 예산은 조직성과의 체계적 관리와 조직상황을 진단하는데 중요한 관리도구이다. 병원은 비영리 조직으로서, 효율적인 예산집행이 중요하지만 현재 국내에는 병원의 예산슬랙에 관한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구가 수행되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 병원 예산시스템의 특성이 예산슬랙에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 본 연구의 자료는 서울 소재 일개 대학병원의 예산 담당자 118명을 대상으로 자기기입식 설문조사를 시행하였다. 본 자료수집 기간은 2015년 7월 14일부터 7월 22일까지이다. 설문에 응답한 데이터는 STATA 14.0을 이용하여 빈도분석, 상관분석 및 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 연구결과 예산시스템의 특성 중 정보비대칭은 예산슬랙을 유의하게 증가시켰다. 반면에 예산 피드백과 예산 동기부여는 예산슬랙을 유의하게 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과 병원 직원 간 예산관련 정보의 원활한 공유가 효율적인 병원경영을 위해 중요하며, 예산슬랙을 체계적으로 관리하기 위해 예산행위에 있어서 예산피드백과 동기부여를 강화하는 것이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 병원 예산슬랙 영향요인에 관한 연구가 부족한 상황에서, 예산슬랙 연구에 대한 관심을 환기시키고 국내 의료기관들의 경영 효율성을 향상시키는데 실증적인 기초자료를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
