Fe-REE deposits occurred in Jaeunri, Hongcheon formed by carbonatitic melts consist of 3 parts such as northern, middle and southern ore bodies showing discontinuous distribution, and extension shape of ore bodies can be figured through field survey and geometric analysis. Foliations in gneiss around northern and middle ore bodies represent NNE, whereas toward south its direction changes gradually from NE to ENE and finally N-S direction appears in southern ore body. From Jaeungyo to Saemaeulgyo geometric analysis from field work gives that fold shape in this area is open synclinal fold concavely and gently to NW with $45^{\circ}$ northwestward plunging axis, in contrast small scale anticline with $45^{\circ}$ northwestward plunging axis in Yagsooteo area near western part of Saemaeulgyo. Dragging effect could be occurred on these folds by WNW trending dextral strike-slip fault from Yagsooteo to Saemaeulgyo. New ore body can be confirmed from folding structure estimated by trend of foliation, and thus unidentified ore body may be exist under alluvial surface from middle to southern ore body and its distribution could show reversed "ㄱ", one of Korean consonants, considering with estimated strike and dip of foliations. This estimated extension of ore body figured out by structural analysis in the studied area works an important role for measuring of ore reserve and selecting of drilling site to find new ore body.
In the Sangdong Mine area, Taebaegsan series (Pre-Cambrian) and Chosun System (Cambro-ordovician) are widely distributed. The Chosun System consists of Yangdug Series (Jangsan Quartzite and Myobong Slate) and The Great Limestone Series (Pungchon Limestone, Shesong Shale, Hwajeol Formation and Dongjeom Quartzite). The mineralized zone containing the main ore body of the Sangdong Mine was developed in the Myobong Slate formation. The result of the field and microscopic study on the mineral paragenesis and it's wall rock alteration in the tungsten ore deposit shows the following features. The orogenic movements of the Post-Chosun System in the Hambaeg Geosyncline are closely related to the tungsten ore deposition in the area, the ore minerals are composed mainly of scheelite, powelite molybdenite and sulfide minerals, and gangue minerals are hornblende, diopside, garnet, quartz, phlogopite, tremolite, biotite, muscovite, fluorite, etc., main ore body was enriched by scheelite bearing quartz vein filling into interstices of formerly mineralized zones, and the minor faults, faults of N $60^{\circ}-70^{\circ}W$, $45^{\circ}-60^{\circ}NE$ and joints, which were formed at the end of the mineralization and the slate. Country rock of the ore body was altered into the following several zones from the outside to the inside; lowgrade recrystalline aureole, silicified sericite zone, and diopside-hornblende zone. Under the microscopic observation of 195 samples taken from throughout ore body can be classified into 10 different groups by their mineral paragenesis as shown in table 2. The garnet-diopside group is primary skarn and it shows gradational change to the groups of later stage by the successive processes of metasomatism. From the stage of quartz-bearing group, the dissemination of scheelite is seen. The crystallization of scheelite in the bed started with the quartz deposition and continued to the last stage when quartz vein intruded into the main ore body. In the field and the under ground investigation a durable limestone bed in thickeness about 20 meters and their remnants in ore body are observed and under microscope calcite remnants are recognized. Hence it is posturated that the ore material moved up through the faults, shear zones or feather cracks and was assimilated with the interbeded limestone, after that the body was affected by the successive differentiated ore solution by gradational increasing in $SiO_2$, $K_2O$ and $H_2O$. Evidently this ore deposit shows the features resulted from pyrometasomatic processes.
Magnetite deposit of Pocheon Iron Mine is a contact replacement skarn deposit embedded in the carbonate rocks (limestone and dolomite) which are intruded by granite porphyry. The shape of ore bodies is sweet potato-like and/or irregular massive form; D-ore body, the biggest one is of $180m{\times}40m{\times}200m$ in size. The ore is in general of high grade. The location of the ore bodies is controlled by the fault which strikes north south and dips $60^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ to the west. A regular distribution of mineralized zones is recognized in order of outward (hanging wall side) from granite porphyry as follows: compact fine-grained skarn, limesilicates, magnetite ore body, marble, limesilicates, pyritized meta-sediments.
Evaluation of three-dimensional ore body modeling has been performed by applying the geostatistical integration technique to multiple geophysical (electrical resistivity, MT) and geological (borehole data, physical properties of core) information. It was available to analyze the resistivity range in borehole and other area through multiple geophysical data. A correlation between resistivity and density from physical properties test of core was also analyzed. In the case study results, the resistivity value of ore body is decreased contrast to increase of the density, which seems to be related to a reason that the ore body (magnetite) includes heavy conductive component (Fe) in itself. Based on the lab test of physical properties in iron mine region, various geophysical, geological and borehole data were used to provide ore body modeling, that is electrical resistivity, MT, physical properties data, borehole data and grade data obtained from borehole data. Of the various geostatistical techniques for the integrated data analysis, in this study, the SGS (sequential Gaussian simulation) method was applied to describe the varying non-homogeneity depending on region through the realization that maintains the mean and variance. With the geostatistical simulation results of geophysical, geological and grade data, the location of residual ore body and ore body which is previously reported was confirmed. In addition, another highly probable region of iron ore bodies was estimated deeper depth in study area through integrated modeling.
This study is a model analysis for an effective application of the geophysical prospecting to the investigation of geological structures or useful resources, and the purpose of it is to research a property of the electrical resistivity prospecting, especially by using a Three-Point electrode array method. In using the Three-Point electrode array method, it is theoretically assumed to choose the infinite for a distance between the two current electrodes, however it is impossible in applying to the practical field prospecting. Therefore this study was conducted for determination and presentation of a minimum appropriate distance between the two current electrodes by making a study on prospecting effect in the variation of distance between both the electrodes. In case that the ratios of the distance between the two current electrodes to that between the two potential electrodes are respectively chosen for 40, 400, 5,000, the experimental data of this study showed that the minimum appropriate distance between the two current electrodes is forty times as much as that between two potential electrodes. In order to make clear a problem about prospecting depth which is essential to the data processing, it had been chosen equally to the distance between two potential electrodes. As a result of it, it was shown that the anomaly is appeared along the position of an assumed ore body. Consequently it was found out that the prospecting depth of the Three-Point electrode array method is the same as the distance between the two potential electrodes. From the model experiment on the sheeting ore body(or linear structure) of horizontal, dipping of $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ and vertical on the basis of above experimental condition, it was found out that the position and dip of assumed ore body could be inferred from the aspects of the equiresistivity curve. In consequence of performing out the simultaneous Normal and Reversal electrode movement, it was shown that the electrode movement of the Reversal forms the anomaly more clearly than that of Normal when the sheeting ore body is situated obliquely, therefore it could be ascertained that the electrode movement have to be performed simultaneously in the manner of Normal and Reversal. It was also exhibited that the aspect of the equiresistivity curve forms symmetrically when an assumed ore body (or linear structure) is situated horizontally or vertically, that is, symmetrically, and moreover that the aspect of the equiresistivity curve forms unsymmetrically when an assumed ore body (or linear structure) is situated obliquely. On the basis of these experimental analysis it is thought that it can be inferred from the aspect of equiresistivity curve whether an assumed ore body is obliquely situated or not.
Self-potential, VLF-EM and dipole-dipole resistivity methods have been widely used for exploration of conductive sulfide ore deposit, because of the convenience and low cost of field work and the reliability of their results. The geophysical responses for vein-type sulfide outcrop of Changkoom mine located in Bukwi-Myon, Jinan-Gun, Chollabuk-Do were investigated and compared with its drilling results. The geology around the survey area is composed of acidic volcanics and sediments of Yuchon Group. And sulfides bearing pyrite, pyrrotite, galena etc. are deposited in disseminated or vein type within acidic volcanics. Typical geophysical responses were detected from the above vein type ore body, respectively. From the shape and extent of S.P. anomaly, ore body is dipping westward and extending about 50 m. It is detected that the VLF EM response matching the outline of ore zone is considered as indication of dyke dipping westward. And also resistivity response indicating conductive dipping dyke is detected. From drilling results for outcrop and geophysical anomalies, the shape of ore body is vein type dipping about $70^{\circ}W$ and extending about 50 m.
The Fe-REE deposit of the Hongcheon-Jaeun district occurs in Precambrian gneiss, and is classified into two ore bodies: the Jaeun ore body (northern ore body) and the Hongcheon ore body (southern ore body). Ecomonically important minerals consist of magnetite, monazite, strontianite and barite. Based on mineral assemblages and textures, the mineralization can be classified into two stages (Na-carbonatite stage and Fe-carbonatite stage). Main REE minerals were precipitated during the Fe-carbonatite stage. Some evidences of the carbonatite origin include: 1) strontianite-monazite exolution texture, 2) strontianite-barite exolution texture, 3) the occurrence of acmite of igneous origin at the area with abundant rare earth minerals, 4) the occurrence of the mineral assemblage consisting of carbonate minerals + magnetite + REE minerals. Therefore, we suggest that Fe-REE mineralization in the study area was related to carbonatite of igneous origin.

In mineral resource development, resource exploration is a task to find economical minerals on the surface and underground, and the success rate is low compared to the development and production stages, and it is necessary to collect a lot of data through exploration and accurately analyze the collected information. In this study, mine spatial information was constructed using a 3D (Three-dimensional) laser scanner, and accuracy evaluation was performed to obtain a maximum deviation of 0.140 m and an average of 0.095 m in the X, Y and Z directions, and the possibility of utilizing the construction of mine geospatial information through a 3D laser scanner could be presented. In addition, the ore body modeling was performed by applying the interpolation method of the ore body section using the resource exploration results. The ore body modeling result was superimposed with the modeling result of the mine geospatial information built through the 3D laser scanner to construct the ore body modeling result based on the precise mine geospatial information. The results of ore body modeling based on mine geospatial information built through research can increase the ease of data interpretation and the accuracy of the calculated data, which will greatly increase the efficiency of work related to mineral resource development and mine damage prevention in the future.
To achieve mine development, a large amount of data concerned with the geological structure and the ore body had to be investigated and collected through geological survey, drilling and geophysical explorations. In most previous cases, however, the data were usually analyzed two dimensionally and those results showed some limits because of their 2D presentation. Those 2D maps such as geological plane sections or longitudinal sections cause lots of difficulties in understanding the complex geological structure or the feature of ore body in a spatial way. In this study, research area was set on the abandoned Yangyang iron mine in Korea and the Sugaeng ore body within the mine was selected as the research target to design a mine haulage system for reopening. A 3D mine model of this area was tried to be constructed using a 3D modelling software, GEMS. An accurate 3D model including the ore body, the geological structure, the old underground mine drifts and the new mine drifts was constructed under the purpose of reopening of the abandoned iron mine. Especially, mine design for trackless haulage system was conducted. New inclines and drifts were planned and modelled 3 dimensionally considering the utilization of old drifts and shaft. In addition to the 3D modelling, geostatistical technique was adopted to generate a spatial distribution of the ore grade and the rock physical properties. 3D model would be able to contribute in solving problems such as evaluating ore reserves, planning the mine development and additional explorations and changing the development plans, etc.
This report is written for presenting a principal theme of study about. the origin of Sangdong ore deposit in details, being an aid to find new ore bodies, on the basis of mineralogical charactor and geological feature. Main vein in Sandgong mine has characteristic zonal distribution and localization of minerals. 3 kinds of minerals, that are quartz, hornblende, diopside, form systematically their each rich zones. Other minerals like plagioclase, native bismuth, sphene, molybdenite and wolframite are developed locally. According to the zonal distribution and localization of the minerals, the authors presume that mineralizing agents which changed interbedded limestones into ore bodies act and come up from non-exposed igneous body in the direction perpendicular to the platy main vein. That non-exposed igneous body, presumed, might be extended from the exposed igneous bodies in the southern part of Sangdong mine.
