Effects of Heat Treatments of Aluminum Substrate on Nanopore Arrays in Anodic Alumina (열처리가 알루미나 나노기공의 배열에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate effects of heat treatments including grain size control in substrate aluminum on nanopore arrays in anodic alumina template, aluminum was heat treated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The heat treated aluminum was anodized by two successive anodization processes in oxalic solution and the nanopore arrays in anodic alumina layer were studied using TEM and FE-SEM. The highly ordered porous alumina templates with 110 nm interpore distance and 40 nm pore diameter have been observed and the pore array of the anodic alumina has a uniform and closely-packed honeycomb structure. In the case of alumina template obtained from heat treated aluminum substrate, the well- ordered nanopore region in anodic alumina increased and became more homogeneous compared with that from non-heattreated one.

Fabrication of Three-dimensionally Ordered Macroporous Electrode Materials by Using PMMA Template (PMMA 구를 주형으로 이용한 3DOM 전극 구조체의 제조)

  • Three-dimensionally ordered macroporous (3DOM) structures of the $LiCoO_2$ electrode materials for Li secondary batteries were fabricated by using the close-packed arrays of PMMA spheres served as templates. In order to successfully fabricate the cathode materials with highly ordered array form, the metal citrates were applied to new precursors. The precursor/template composites were prepared by the infiltration with metal citrate precursors into the voids of template. By removing the PMMA templates, then, the inverse opal structures with the uniform pores of narrow size distribution were resulted. It was confirmed that the 3DOM $LiCoO_2$ material is to take a single phase of rocksalt (R3m) structure. In addition, 3DOM $LiNiO_2$ and $LiMn_{2}O_4$ cathode materials were fabricated using an identical preparation procedure. Also, the morphology of the 3DOM cathode materials calcined at $500^{\circ}C\;to\;700^{\circ}C$ was observed by scanning electron microscope.

Self-Assembled Monolayers of Dioctyl Diselenides on Au(111)

  • The surface structure, electrochemical behavior, and wetting property of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed by dioctyl diselenide (DODSe) on Au(111) were investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and contact angle measurements. In contrast to the formation of well-ordered SAMs by octanethiol on Au(111), the SAMs formed by DODSe have a disordered phase and many unusual vacancy islands (VIs). In addition, the formation of DODSe SAMs is largely influenced by the solution concentration used. DODSe SAMs formed in 5 $\mu$ M and 50 $\mu$ M solutions have two mixed domains consisting of missing-row ordered phases and disordered phases, while DODSe SAMs formed in 1 mM and 5 mM solutions have only disordered phases with an abnormally high VI fraction of 22-24%. We also found that the wetting property and electrochemical behavior of DODSe SAMs on Au(111) are markedly influenced by the formation of ordered SAMs and the density of VIs.

A NEW CLASS OF CYCLIC CODES USING ORDERED POWER PRODUCT OF POLYNOMIALS

  • The paper introduces a new product of polynomials defined over a field. It is a generalization of the ordinary product with inner polynomial getting non-overlapping segments obtained by multiplying with coefficients and variable with expanding powers. It has been called 'Ordered Power Product' (OPP). Considering two rings of polynomials $R_m[x]=F[x]modulox^m-1$ and $R_n[x]=F[x]modulox^n-1$, over a field F, the paper then considers the newly introduced product of the two polynomial rings. Properties and algebraic structure of the product of two rings of polynomials are studied and it is shown to be a ring. Using the new type of product of polynomials, we define a new product of two cyclic codes and devise a method of getting a cyclic code from the 'ordered power product' of two cyclic codes. Conditions for the OPP of the generators polynomials of component codes, giving a cyclic code are examined. It is shown that OPP cyclic code so obtained is more efficient than the one that can be obtained by Kronecker type of product of the same component codes.

Structural Control and Two-Dimensional Order of Organic Thiol Self-Assembled Monolayers on Au(111)

  • Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) prepared by sulfur-containing organic molecules on metal surfaces have drawn much attention for more than two decades because of their technological applications in wetting, chemical and biosensors, molecular recognition, nanolithography, and molecular electronics. In this talk, we will present self-assembly mechanism and two-dimensional (2D) structures of various organic thiol SAMs on Au(111), which are mainly demonstrated by molecular-scale scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) observation. In addition, we will provide some idea how to control 2D molecular arrangements of organic SAMs. For instance, the formation and surface structure of pentafluorobenzenethiols (PFBT) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au(111) formed from various experimental conditions were examined by means of STM. Although it is well known that PFBT molecules on metal surfaces do not form ordered SAMs, we clearly revealed for the first time that adsorption of PFBT on Au(111) at $75^{\circ}C$ for 2 h yields long-range, well-ordered self-assembled monolayers having a $(2{\times}5\sqrt{13})R30^{\circ}$ superlattice. Benzenethiols (BT) SAMs on gold usually have disordered phases, however, we have clearly demonstrated that the displacement of preadsorbed cyclohexanethiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au(111) by BT molecules can be a successful approach to obtain BT SAMs with long-range ordered domains. Our results will provide new insight into controlling the structural order of BT or PFBT SAMs, which will be very useful in precisely tailoring the interface properties of metal surfaces in electronic devices.

  • AAO(Anodic Aluminum Oxidation) method has been known that it is practically useful for the fabrication of nano-structures and makes it possible to fabricate the highly ordered nano masters on large surface and even on the 2.5 or 3D surface at low cost comparing to the expensive e-beam lithography or the conventional silicon processing. In this study, by using the multi-step anodizing and etching processes, highly ordered nano patterned master with concave shapes was fabricated. By varying the processing parameters, such as initial matter and chemical conditions; electrical and thermal conditions; time scheduling; and so on, the size and the pitch of the nano pattern can be controlled. Consequently, various alumina/aluminum nano structures can be easily available in any size and shape by optimized anodic oxidation in various aqueous acids. In order to replicate nano patterned master, the resulting good filled uniform nano molded structure through electro-forming process shows the validity of the fabricated nano pattern masters.

Fabrication of nitrogen doped ordered mesoporous carbon derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors

  • This paper introduces a nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbon (NOMC) derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors, achieved by successfully combining electrical double-layer capacitance with pseudo-capacitance behaviors. The nitrogen doping content of the fabricated NOMC reached 7.4 at% while its specific surface area ($S_{BET}$) and total pore volume reached $778m^2g^{-1}$ and $1.17cm^3g^{-1}$, respectively. A dual mesoporous structure with small mesopores centered at 3.6 nm and large mesopores centered at 9.9 nm was observed. The specific capacitance of the reported materials reached up to $328Fg^{-1}$, which was 2.1 times higher than that of pristine CMK-3. The capacitance retention rate was found to be higher than 87.9% after 1000 charge/discharge cycles. The supplementary pseudocapacitance as well as the enhanced wettability and conductivity due to the incorporation of nitrogen heteroatoms within the carbon matrixes were found to be responsible for the excellent capacitive performance of the reported NOMC materials.

  • In the post-COVID-19, the food industry is rapidly reshaping its market structure toward online distribution. Rapid delivery system driven by large distribution platforms has ushered in an era of online distribution of fresh seafood that was previously limited. This study surveyed 1,000 consumers nationwide to determine their online seafood purchasing behaviors. The research methodology used factor analysis of consumer lifestyle and Heckman's ordered probit sample-selection model. The main results of the analysis are as follows. First, quality, freshness, selling price, product reviews from other buyers, and convenience are particularly important considerations when consumers purchase seafood from online shopping. Second, online retailers and the government must prepare measures to expand seafood consumption by considering household characteristics and consumer lifestyles. Third, it was analyzed that consumers trust the quality and safety of seafood distributed online platforms. It is not possible to provide purchase incentives to consumers who consider value consumption important, so improvement measures are needed. The results of this study are expected to provide implications on consumer preferences to online platforms, seafood companies, and producers, and can be used to establish future marketing strategies.

  • The optical spectroscopic properties of the ordered perovskite structure A2BWO6 doped with Eu3+ have been studied. The experimental result about Eu3+ ordering in the system of A2BWO6 indicate the different structural conditions. Some influence of Eu3+ substitutioin on the different types of cation site have been investigated.
