  • The waveform coding technique has concerned with simply preserving the waveform shape of speech signal through a redundancy reduction process. In the case of speech synthesis, the waveform coding with high sound quality is mainly used to the synthesis by analysis. However, since the parameters of this coding are not classified into either excitation or vocal tract parameters, it is difficult to applying the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule. In order to apply the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule, the pitch alteration technique is required in prosody control. In this paper, we propose a new pitch alteration method that can change the pitch period in waveform coding by scaling the time-axis and compensating the spectrum. This is relevant to the time-frequency domain method were the phase components of the waveform is preserved with a little spectrum distortion of 2.5 % and less for 50% pitch change.

  • In this paper, we propose an access control system using cryptography as a method to protect personal data in public blockchain. The proposed system is designed to encrypt data according to the access policy, store it in the blockchain, and decrypt only the person who satisfy the access policy. In order to improve performance and scalability, an encryption mechanism is implemented outside the blockchain. Therefore, data access performance could be preserved while cryptographic operations executed Furthermore it can also improve the scalability by adding new access control modules while preserving the current configuration of blockchain network. The encryption scheme is based on the attribute-based encryption (ABE). However, unlike the traditional ABE, the "retention period", is incorporated into the access structure to ensure the right to be forgotten. In addition, symmetric key cryptograpic algorithms are used for the performance of ABE. We implemented the proposed system in a public blockchain and conducted the performance evaluation.

  • Methods of contrast enhancement have problem such as side effect of over-enhancement with non-gaussian histogram distribution, tradeoff enhancement efficiency against brightness preserving. In order to enhance contrast at various histogram distribution, segmentation to region with gaussian distribution and then enhance contrast each region. First, we segment an image into several regions using GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model)fitting by that k-mean clustering and EM(Expectation-Maximization) in $L^*a^*b^*$ color space. As a result region segmentation, we get the region map and probability map. Then we apply local contrast enhancement algorithm that mean shift to minimum overlapping of each region and preserve brightness histogram equalization. Experiment result show that proposed region based contrast enhancement method compare to the conventional method as AMBE(AbsoluteMean Brightness Error) and AE(Average Entropy), brightness is maintained and represented detail information.

  • Distributed genetic algorithm (DGA), also known as island model or coarse-grained model, is a kind of parallel genetic algorithm, in which a population is partitioned into several sub-populations and each of them evolves with its own genetic operators to maintain diversity of individuals. It is known that DGA is superior to conventional genetic algorithm with a single population in terms of solution quality and computation time. Several researches have been conducted to evaluate effects of parameters on GAs, but there is no research work yet that deals with structure of DGA. In this study, we tried to evaluate performance of various genetic algorithms (GAs) for the famous symmetric traveling salesman problems. The considered GAs include a conventional serial GA (SGA) with IGX (Improved Greedy Crossover) and several DGAs with various combinations of crossover operators such as OX (Order Crossover), DPX (Distance Preserving Crossover), GX (Greedy Crossover), and IGX. Two distinct immigration policies, conventional noncompetitive policy and newly proposed competitive policy are also considered. To compare performance of GAs clearly, a series of analysis of variance (ANOVA) is conducted for several scenarios. The experimental results and ANOVAs show that DGAs outperform SGA in terms of computation time, while the solution quality is statistically the same. The most effective crossover operators are revealed as IGX and DPX, especially IGX is outstanding to improve solution quality regardless of type of GAs. In the perspective of immigration policy, the proposed competitive policy is slightly superior to the conventional policy when the problem size is large.

  • Full-image guided filter reflects all pixels of image in filtering by using weight propagation and two-pass model, whereas the existing guide filter is processed based on the kernel window. Therefore the computational complexity can be improved while maintaining characteristics of guide filter, such as edge-preserving, smoothing, and so on. In this paper, we propose an efficient VLSI architecture for the full-image guided filter by analyzing the data dependency, the data frequency and the PSNR analysis of the image in order to achieve enough speed for various applications such as stereo vision, real-time systems, etc. In addition, the proposed efficient scheduling enables the realtime process by minimizing the idle period in weight computation. The proposed VLSI architecture shows 214MHz of maximum operating frequency (image size: 384*288, 965 fps) and 76K of gates (internal memory excluded).

  • With esthetic concern in the reconstruction of skin and soft tissue defects of face, the use of local flap has been the method of choice. However, when there is extensive tissue loss in the face, local flaps do not provide satisfactory results. The amazing development of microsurgical technique has decreased the percentage of free flap failure, thus making free flap use in reconstruction of facial soft tissue defects. Many free flaps has been applied for reconstruction of face defects. Especially, the radial forearm flap has numerous advantages with which facial reconstruction is made possible. But, its disadvantages are ; the sacrifice of one major artery supplying the hand and donor site complications. In order to circumvent these disadvantages, we employed posterior interosseous artery(PIA) forearm free flap for the reconstruction of the face defects. The posterior interosseous forearm island flap was first described by Zancolli and Angrigiani(1985). Currently, the PIA island flap and free flap have been used for hand reconstructions. The disadvantages of the PIA flap are ; the small caliber of the pedicle, different locations of the perforating branches, and the proximity of the motor branch of the radial nerve. But, its advantages lies in preserving the major artery of the hand, minimal donor site morbidity, and fairly well matched skin texture and color, and that the flap volume is sufficient, not too bulky with convenient handling. By using this flap, we performed 1 case of tumor resection and 1 case of traumatic defect. From our experiences we conclude that it is one of many useful methods in the reconstruction of the skin and soft tissue defects of the face. We also have discussed advantages and some limitations of various free flaps for reconstruction of the face.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of freezing rate on aroma retention and to examine the mechanism of aroma retention during freeze drying process. Our experiments were carried out with self-manufactured freeze-dryer. Gelatin gels (2% w / w, 80${\times}$20mm) containing diacetyl(2mg/ml) were frozen unidirectionally (Neumann's model) from the bottom at -45, -30, -20, and -15$^{\circ}C$ and followed with freeze-drying. Under the upper conditions we measured freezing rate and the change of temperature and pressure during freeze drying. Freeze-dried gelatins were cut horizontally into 5 mm thickness from the bottom measured and diacetly contents. Besides, we observed the effect of the relative humidity of the diacetyl contents freeze-dried gelatin during storage. The retained diacetyl content was increased at high freezing temperature and in order of 0∼5, 5∼10, 10∼15, 15∼20 mm section from the bottom of the sample. It was observed that the retained diacetyl content was high in 15∼20 mm section. The retained diacetyl content and freeze-dried gelatin stored in the condition of high relative humidity was decreased significantly but in the low relative humidity case, was it decreased in small amount. The results of our experiment resents that the low temperature freezing and low humidity storing condition is effective for preserving aroma compound in food.

An expanded view of product definition function that include a bill of material and routing database, current and historical engineering data and specifications and engineering changes order history. PDM (Product Data Management) systems hold and manage such material as product specifications, plans, geometric models, CAD drawings and images. Furthermore, PDM enables companies producing complex products to spread product data in to the entire launch process. Especially, PDTnet XML Schema is an international standard for exchanging of PDM data. But PDTnet XML Schema differs from existing XML Schema in the way that its property of IDREF/IDREFS is irregular. Therefore it is important factor that. what do we use storage devices and storage techniques. We developed storage techniques and application supporting various query types and preserving PDTnet XML Schema using a relational database that guaranteeing the performance nowadays. • GF (Guided Filtering) is a representative image processing technique to effectively remove noise while preserving edge information in the digital image. In this paper, we proposed a unsupervised change detection method for the KOMPSAT-3 satellite image using the GF and evaluated its performance. In order to utilize GF for the unsupervised change detection, cross-sharpened images were generated based on GF, and CVA (Change Vector Analysis) was applied to the generated cross-sharpened images to extract the changed area in the multitemporal satellite imagery. Experimental results using KOMPSAT-3 satellite images showed that the proposed method can be effectively used to detect changed regions compared with CVA results based on existing cross-sharpened images.

  • A multi-purpose environmental monitoring system has been developed as a commercially available standard using the technique of hetero-core spliced fiber optic sensors, for the purposes of monitoring large-scale structures and preserving natural environments. The monitoring system has been tested and evaluated in a possible outdoor condition, in view of the full-scale operation at actual sites to be monitored. Additionally, the developed system in this work conveniently provides us with various options of sensor modules intended for monitoring such physical quantities as displacement, distortion, pressure, binary states, and liquid adhesion. Two channels of optical fiber line were monitored in each channel, three displacement sensor modules were connected in series, in order to examine the performance to a pseudo-cracking experiment in the outdoor situation and to clarify temperature influences an the system, in terms of the coupling of optical connectors and the OTDR stability. The results from the pseudo-cracking experiment agreed with the actual cracks, by means of calculation, based an the detected displacement values and their geometrical arrangement of the used sensor modules. The temperature change, ranging from 10 to $20^{\circ}C$ resulting from the 10-days free running operation, was found to influence the system stability of ${\pm}10{\mu}m$, primarily due to the coupling instability of the used optical connectors. It was found that fusion splicing, rather than the use of connectors, reduced the fluctuation dawn to ${\pm}2{\mu}m$. The specification and performance of various option modules have been demonstrated to show the capability of inspecting various physical quantities by use of the single system, which would be suitable for multi-purpose environmental monitoring.
