Apharyngostrigea ibis (Trematoda: Strigeidae) were obtained from the small intestine of two black-crowned night herons (Nycticorax nycticorax) and three grey herons (Ardea cinerea jouyi) between July 2006 and September 2018 in Daejeon metropolitan city and Kangwon province, Republic of Korea. The body is covered with a relatively thick cuticle, devoid of spines, and bipartite. The body measures at 2.3-3.33 × 0.86-1.20 mm, and the fore-body is ventrally concave. The oral sucker leads into a short esophagus that is devoid of a muscular pharynx. The worm was studied with a scanning electron microscope for the first time resulting in the detection of a pair of lappets located at the bilateral portion of the oral sucker. This is the first record of A. ibis in the Republic of Korea.

본 연구는 구강 건강 개선을 위해 효과적인 구강 보건 교육방법을 모색하고자 동기면담이라는 새로운 상담기법을 적용한 구강 관리 프로그램을 진행하였다. 동기면담의 효과를 검증하고, 구강 관리 프로그램 개발의 기초자료로 제시하고자 대학생 98명을 대상으로 구강 관리 프로그램을 시행하였다. 첫 방문 날짜를 기준으로 실험군 32명과 대조군 66명으로 배정하였으며, 실험군에게는 총 3회의 동기면담을 시행한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 중재 유무에 따라 프로그램 참여 전후의 구강 상태를 비교한 결과 실험군에서 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 치주상태를 평가하는 PSR, 치은 지수, 치석 지수, 치면세균막 지수, QLF-D 측정값인 SPS 모두 중재 전보다 중재 후에 측정값이 유의하게 감소하였다(p<0.05). 2. 구강 관리 프로그램 시행 기간 총 3회 동안 치면세균막지수값을 측정한 결과 두 집단 간의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았으나(p>0.05), 3회의 치면세균막 측정 시점 간의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하였으며 집단과 측정 시점간의 교호작용도 유의한 차이를 나타냈다(p<0.05). 3. 구강 관리 프로그램 참여 기간 동안 재방문 준수도는 실험군의 방문 준수도가 높게 나타났다. 또한 프로그램 재방문에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과 동기면담을 시행한 집단이 시행하지 않은 집단보다 재방문할 가능성이 23.89배 높았으며, 구강 양치액을 사용하는 사람이 사용하지 않는 사람보다 21.73배, 치주상태 측정값 PSR이 큰사람이 12.19배 재방문할 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면, 동기면담의 시행은 구강 상태를 개선하며 그 가운데 치면세균막 감소에 높은 영향력이 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 동기면담을 적용한 집단은 치면세균막 지수가 점차 감소하는 반면 중재를 시행하지 않는 집단은 다시 증가하는 양상을 나타내어 동기면담의 시행이 행동 유지에 관련이 있음을 알 수 있다. 동기면담 시행 집단이 재방문율이 높고, 재방문 준수에 동기면담의 영향력이 있는 것을 확인하였으므로 동기면담은 구강 관리 프로그램에 적용 가능하며 구강건강개선에 영향력 있는 중재로 이용될 것으로 생각된다.

Purpose: To describe the newly developed Film image transfer system (FITS) for proper positioning of the orthodontic mini-implant in the narrow interdental space and considerations for better application. Materials and Methods: A patient who was planning to have orthodontic mini-implant treatment on the posterior maxilla was recruited to assess the feasibility of FITS. Dental radiographic film and bite record was taken. And then the film image was transferred on the photographic emulsion coated model using transfer light through film projector (enlarger). After exposing the photo emulsion coating on the model, the image was developed with a working solution for a paper developer and fixed. The surgical guide for the mini-implant was fabricated from the transported FITS data. Results: The completed surgical guide was easily placed intraorally, and allowed a simple and rapid placement of the mini-implant. The site of the implant placement was accurate as planned position. Conclusion: In the reported case, The FITS technique represents an effort to minimize risk to the patient and produce consistently good results based upon accurate information about the anatomy of the implant site.

The family Thapariellidae has been reported in only 3 countries since 1990. The objective of this study was to identify Thapariella anastomusa metacercariae in snails in Thailand based on morphological traits using a light (LM) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). A total of 94 Filopaludina snails were collected and identified as 50 F. martensi martensi and 44 F. doliaris. Metacercariae of T. anastomusa were recovered from the snails by the crushing method. The overall prevalence was 22.3% (21/94), and the mean intensity was 17.0 per snail. The prevalence in F. martensi martensi was 24.0% (12/50) and F. doliaris 20.5% (9/44) with the mean intensity of 18.8 and 14.8 per snail, respectively. SEM revealed traits such as a concave ventral body and well-developed oral and ventral suckers. This study represents the first report of T. anastomusa in South East Asia. While LM and SEM observations provide novel insights into T. anastomusa metacercarial morphology and life history, the trematode's life cycle remains unclear. To date, there has been no report of T. anastomusa causing infections in humans. However, the snails F. martensi martensi and F. doliaris carrying the infective stages of T. anastomosa are frequently consumed by Thai people. This consumption, particularly uncooked snails, may present a risk of Thapariella infections in humans.

The purpose of this study was to identify clinical characteristics of type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension. The subjects were 209 type 2 diabetic patients who visited at the endocrine center at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University in Seoul from beginning of March through the end of April in 2001. The patient's clinical laboratory data were assessed at medical record review. The data were analyzed using for t-test, $x^2$ test. The results were as follows: 1) There were no significant differences in age, body mass index, sex, family history of diabetes and oral hypoglycemic agents between hypertensive group and normotensive group, However, percentage of patients receiving insulin treatment was higher significantly in the hypertensive group. 2) Creatinine and microalbuminuria levels were higher significantly in the hypertensive group. However, fasting blood glucose levels were lower significantly in the hypertensive group. There were no significant differences in $HbA_1c$, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) and blood urea nitrogen between two groups. Our present study supports that Creatinine and microalbuminuria levels were higher significantly in the hypertensive group.

Cercaria caribbea LVIII Cable, 1963 (Digenea: Cyathocotylidae) was detected from a brackish water gastropod species (Cerithideopsilla cingulata) in a coatal area of Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Province), the Republic of Korea, and its surface ultrastructure was studied using a scanning electron microscope. The cercariae were found freely swimming or enveloped within daughter sporocysts when the snail host was mechanically broken. They were morphologically characterized by a linguiform and ventrally concave body, a long and bifurcated tail, and the presence of a holdfast (=tribocytic) organ posterior to the ventral sucker. On the whole ventral and dorsal surfaces, peg-like tegumental spines were densely distributed. Around the oral sucker, several sensory papillae, each with a short cilium, were distributed, and on the tail, sensory papillae, each with an extensively long cilium, were observed. This is the first record describing a cyathocotylid cercaria from a brackish water gastropod in the Republic of Korea.

Objectives : The Medical Records(醫案) are important materials in studying the developmental process of Korean Traditional Medicine. The purpose of this study was to investigate the medical records which were described in Gupyubang(及幼方), the first Korean book that specialized in pediatrics. Methods : 85 Medical records about medical traits of diagnosis and treatments in Gupyubang were analyzed and those were translated in Korean. Results : Medical records were analyzed as follows; The number of Male was 76 and the number of Female was 9. Prepubertal period was 16 and preschool period 14. Acute febrile convulsion was 6. Measles and blood symptom was 5. Ring worm pain, vomiting & diarrhea, colic pain was 4. Most of them were self treatment except one. 77 cases were improved and 6 cases were dead or worse. The medical records used oral medication, external medication, acupuncture, moxibustion and surgical manners. Conclusion : This study showed that Gupyubang is a experiential book and alse the medical records in Gupyubang was usefulness and had practical value.

Punica granatum, L. (Pomegranate) has 613 seeds which accidentally corresponds to the 613 commandments in the Bible. Accordingly, the fruit has been worshipped by the Jewish and other religious people from the ancient. Pomegranate's seed, peel and juice contain a variety of ethnomedical components so much as the sum of three kinds of other common fruits. The number of published papers related to the pomegranate in recent 7 years flourished 7 times more than before at the bases of Medline record. Since the containments of estrogen, as $17{\alpha}-estradiol,\;17{\beta}-estradiol$, estrone, and estradiol, etc., in pomegranate have been reported, public interests and commercial values of pomegranate arose considerably. The report was disproved later, however, merits of this fruit remained yet; clinical efficacy for preventing and remediating cancers including breast and prostate cancers by oral administration of the juice, seed oil, and peel extract is still believed to be true. In this review, target components of pomegranate such as antioxidants, anticancers, antiestrogens and ethnomedical components were analyzed and discussed along with examining its pharmaceutical efficacy and prescription to postmenopausal lesion, cardiosclerosis, cosmetic beautification, viral and allergic symptoms, and diabetes mellitus, etc.

본 연구는 야구기록 활용에 기반하여 '한국야구명예의전당'을 운영하기 위한 효과적인 방향성을 제시하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 문헌 조사에 의한 미국과 일본 명예의 전당 사례 분석과 한국 야구기록의 종류와 관리현황, 현업에서 종사 중인 야구 관계자들의 면담을 통해 문제점을 도출하였다. 종합 방안으로서 '한국야구명예의전당'에서 수집, 관리, 활용해야 할 관련 아카이브 컬렉션 구성과 야구 영웅의 기억을 보존하기 위한 구술 확보의 필요성, 야구 경기기록의 DB화와 데이터 구축 등을 제시하였다.

산업화가 진행됨에 따라 지역 문화가 깃든 공동체가 온전히 보존되기 어려워지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 지역적 특색이 강한 로컬리티 기록물을 활용하여 공동체 활성화 방안으로 기록물 수집 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 대구 약전골목을 대상으로 하여 골목의 역사와 현황 및 문제점을 알아보았으며 약전골목이 보유하고 있는 기록물 유형 및 약전골목을 이루고 있는 공동체의 구성요소를 정리하였다. 수집 방안으로는 시흥 바라지 아카이브 사례와 정릉 마을 기록 사례, 오텐센지구 아카이브를 참고하여 단계별 수집정책을 개발하였다.
