This investigation was done on Sep. 29 1999 through Oct. 8 examining 376 of elementary, 1grade, 2grade, 3grade students in Kyunggi-Do. The content of the questions was analzed with a t-test and a one-way ANOVA; the relation to the oral care on children by parents with oral care behavior was analyzed by a Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The results are as follow; 1) Statistically women were higher(F=-2.675, p<0.01). The average of the oral care of children was 2.34, man averaged 2.29, woman are raged 2.32. Statistically women were also higher(F=4.682, p<0.052). 2) The more educatior the mother had higher, the higher the grade. Statistically there was a difference(F=6.756, p<0.01. The oral care of children above Uni graduate(M=2.38), high (M=2:23), middle graduate(M=2.Z3). Statistically, the higher the academic degree, the more optimistic(F=4.114, p<0.05). 3) In the oral care on children by parents, when the conversation with the family was often 2.17, there was little difference(F=7.343, p<0.01). In the oral care of children was 2.45, there was little difference(F=7.343. p<0.01). As a result, the conversation with family affects the behavior. 4) In the oral care of children, if the food that they like was fruits, vegetables, and fresh food, the average was 2.37, very high. There was little difference in other cases(F=-3.179, p<0.05). We can conclude that fresh food affects the oral care of children. 5) In the oral care on children by parents, when the course of knowledge on the oral care was viewed by a grandfather(M=2.02), grandmother(M=2.05), father(M=2.14), mother(M=2.08). There was little difference(F=2.666, p<0.05). 6) In oral care, if the level of income was viewed high level(M=2.42), middle(M=2.34), 10w(M=1.88), there was a little difference(F=3.300, p<0.05). 7) The relation of the oral care on children by parents and the oral care was normal. In other words, the more management by parents, the more management by children.(p<0.01) Therefore in this study, the oral care on children by parents effect the oral care behavior of children. To improve the mouth health of children, the parents's interest in their children must be constant. Also, it is needed to develope an education program where parents and children can be educated.

  • Purpose : This scoping review was designed to identify gaps in knowledge and guide future directions for clinical nursing practices and research on oral hygiene care for endotracheally intubated patients in Korean intensive care units. Methods : We conducted a scoping review using the methodological framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley. PubMed, CINAHL, RISS, Science On, and DBpia databases were searched. Two reviewers independently selected the studies and extracted data. A total of 445 studies were identified, of which 17 were included in the final analysis. Results : No research has been conducted from 2021 to the present. A total of 12 instruments were utilized in 13 studies to assess the effectiveness of oral hygiene care. All studies investigating the effectiveness of oral hygiene care have consistently documented that chlorhexidine has the most significant effect. The frequency and time of oral hygiene care were each examined in one study. Conclusion : A research study is necessary to develop a measurement tool for assessing the effectiveness of oral hygiene care suitable for endotracheal intubated patients in intensive care units. Interventional studies should be conducted to determine the effects of chlorhexidine and the appropriate frequency and time of oral hygiene care. Thereafter, revision of domestic evidence-based clinical practice guidelines by integrating these results will be necessary.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a program of oral health education for children and to furnish basic data contributing to the improvement of children's oral health. In this study, we tried to analyze and discover the types of recognition in parents of children's oral care. With the use of Q-methodology that could systematically and scientifically estimate the subjectivity of humans, 28 parents were collected as a P-sample. 3 general types were discovered. The characteristics of each type were the following: Type 1. "Serious consideration of prevention care type" took a positive attitude to their children's oral care, were knowledgable, and maintained high concern about oral care. They regularly visited dentists for prevention and believed in caries prevention through brushing teeth. They also put high trust in dentists. Type 2. "Disposition by the existing state type" believed that caries could develop even with brushing teeth and could be inherited from parents, Practically, they had a passive attitude to their children's oral care depending on stages and were more concerned with the appearance of dentition than with their children's oral health. Type 3. "Home care-centered type" had less knowledge about children's oral care than the other two types and was careless for teeth prevention. Therefore, they had not intended to participate in the oral health education program.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health care and educational needs of college students in an effort to give some suggestions on the development of oral health educational media. It's basically meant to boost the efficiency of oral health education geared toward college students. Methods : The subjects in this study were 500 students at seven different colleges located in Daejeon and South Choongcheong Province. After a survey was conducted, frequency analysis and ANOVA were utilized to analyze the collected data. And the records of the in-depth interviews of 10 students were analyzed as well. Results : The gender of the students and whether their major was linked to health or not made differences to their knowledge of dental caries. And there was nothing to affect their knowledge of periodontal diseases except whether their major was related to health or not. They didn't have a good knowledge of periodontal diseases, and they just regarded toothbrushing as a means to prevent dental caries and periodontal diseases. They preferred to acquire knowledge over the Internet. Conclusions : College students who don't know well about periodontal diseases should be given an opportunity to learn about periodontal diseases and diverse ways of preventing dental caries and periodontal diseases other than toothbrushing. As the college students preferred to surf the Internet, educational programs should be developed in the form of video clips that can be found over the Internet, and more aggressive publicity is required via SNS, etc.
