Many of non-contact measuring systems are used to estimate surface characteristics owing to their advantages of high speed and undanaged test. In this paper, a new measuring system is proposed to acquire image from CCD camera through back light illumination. Lowpass filter is very useful in view of noise removal and optimum binary image can be made through histogram equalization which is one of the histogram technique to maximize brightness intensity between workpiece and background. Laplacian operator is used to detect workpiece edge from binary image. In case of image treatment applying Laplacian operator, surface roughness is calculated by introducing conversion coefficient for coordinate of pixel which edge is composed of. In summary, the work is concerned with the development of a new technique for roughness measurement by the image processing in turning.

Utilizing a cosine transform in image compression has several recognized performance benefits, resulting in the ability to attain large compression ratio with small quality loss. Also, various models incorporating Human Visual System (HVS) to Discrete Cosine Trans-form (DCT) scheme are considered. Using the exact frequency components of DCT basis function, the optimum modulation transfer function (MTF) is obtained analytically. The errors at a block boundary which is important factor in transform coder are criteria for error measurement. The HVS weight coding results in perceptually higher quality images compared with the unweighted scheme.

In this paper, we present the design and measurement of a collinear dipole array (CDA) operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The array is consisted of six collinear dipoles joined by phasing coils. A cmmercial software is used to design the antenna with an optimum performance. The designed array is fabricated and is measured to confirm the design.

The influences of three binders, hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP), on the transmittance of compression pressure from upper punch to lower punch and the disintegration of aspirin tablets prepared by direct compression were studied. The optimum concentration of three binders for the disintegration of aspirin tablets was about 20w/w% and several physical properties of the powder and tablets were also investigated. The tablet machine was specially made for the measurement of compression pressure of the tablets.

The electrical detector and computer systems for traffic flow and speed measurement are demonstrated in this paper. For the best traffic control optimization, linear and non-linear equations in the transition state are dealing with the perturbation of the linear car-following. In the conclusions, we construct a realizable system for the central automatic traffic control with a computer. Furthermore, fixed periodic switching system by manual with the automatic traffic control system is recommended for emergency perturbation.

The optimum reaction conditions for the preparation of the precipitated calcium carbonate of an average particle size of 0.05.mu. in diameter was set in which the Box-Wilson Plan was applied. The reaction conditions are as follows; 1) concentration of milk of lime; 6.56% w/w 2) temperature; 14.24.deg. C #) velocity of carbon dioxide introducing; 1.95l/min. The crystal form was found that of calcite in X-ray diffraction analysis. The particle size was determined by the sedimentation volume measurement. The shape was identified by the elctron micro-diffraction pattern and the electron microscopic photographs.

The equipments in semi-conductor, display and measurement fields require high precision and resolution positioning technology. High positioning control can be carried out by using linear motors with little vibration, backlash and friction. In this paper, the acceleration patterns of the moving Part are analyzed to obtain the optimum pattern which leads to the less vibration reduction of equipment. In addition, the effect of friction force in guide rail on position control accuracy is investigated to identify possibility of using current bearing system for nano-positioning control.

This paper reports the design, modeling, fabrication and measurement of passive microvalves applicable to glaucoma implants. The proposed microvalves consisted of microchannels and chambers. The microchannels had a fixed fluidic resistance and generated a pressure difference. The chamber was located in the middle of the microchannels and acted as a buffer preventing an abrupt pressure change from an external variation of the fluid flow. To find optimum design parameters, six kinds of the microvalves were fabricated and experimented.

Piezo Film Sensor를 이용하여 팔뚝의 상완 동맥에서 맥박 측정을 위한 센서부 최적 구조에 관한 연구를 하였다. 탈부착이 쉬운 팔뚝형 밴드 형태에 Piezo Film Sensor를 삽입하여 생체 신호를 측정 하였다. 센서부의 최적 구조를 알기 위해서 센서패드 구조물의 형태에서 매질 및 두께를 변화시켜 가면서 생체 신호의 크기를 비교하였다.

In this paper, particle velocity of slurry flow, a kind of solid-particle two phase flow, was measured by using a particle tracking velocimetry. Particles are modeled by sphere-shaped glass whose diameters are 3mm, 5mm, and 7mm At first, a particle which is falling in the water is captured and analyzed to give their free falling velocity. The falling velocity was very high up to about 4m/sec in the air, which needs special algorithm for the accurate measurement. For the upwelling slurry flow in the straight duct, there are some noises caused by cavity. However, the effect was so small that it does not affect the measurement of large particles. From the preliminary study of applying the PTV to measurement of particle movement in slurry flow, we could find out the optimum value of parameters: threshold value., searching area radius and correlation area size.
