Initial Design Domain Reset Method for Genetic Algorithm with Parallel Processing

  • The Genetic Algorithm (GA), an optimization technique based on the theory of natural selection, has proven to be a relatively robust means of searching for global optimum. It converges to the global optimum point without auxiliary information such as differentiation of function. In the case of a complex problem, the GA involves a large population number and requires a lot of computing time. To improve the process, this research used parallel processing with several personal computers. Parallel process technique is classified into two methods according to subpopulation's size and number. One is the fine-grained method (FGM), and the other is the coarse-grained method (CGM). This study selected the CGM as a parallel process technique because the load is equally divided among several computers. The given design domain should be reduced according to the degree of feasibility, because mechanical system problems have constraints. The reduced domain is used as an initial design domain. It is consistent with the feasible domain and the infeasible domain around feasible domain boundary. This parallel process used the Message Passing Interface library.

AZ31 합금의 동적 재결정에 미치는 변형 조건의 영향 (Effect of Deformation on Dynamic Recrystallization of an AZ31 Mg alloy)

  • Mg alloys have drawn a huge attention in the field of transportation and consumer electronics industries since it is the lightest alloy which could be industrially applicable. Most Mg alloy components have been fabricated by casting method. However, there have been a lot of research activities on the wrought alloys and their plastic forming process recently. The deformation behavior of an AZ31 Mg alloy at the elevated temperature was examined firstly to find out the optimum plastic forming range in terms of temperature and strain rate. During high temperature deformation, AZ31 alloy is usually undergone the dynamic recrystallization which influence the deformation behavior in turn. In the present study, the effect of deformation on dynamic recrystallization of an AZ31 alloy was investigated to clarify the relation between the deformation and recrystallization. In an AZ31 alloy system, the dynamic recrystallization was found to occur continuously. Recrystallized grain size was dependent on the stress level.

  • A hull form is 181K DWT Bulk Carrier, of which new design and hull form have been developed using CFD tools and model tests. The basic concept design of hull form has been carried out with considering the factors, which are a lot of influence of the wave and viscosity resistance. The considered factors of particular are LCB, DLWL shape, tern and stem profile, Cp-curve shape, etc. Numerical calculations are carried out in the initial design stage and experimental model tests are also carried out in towing tank of MOERI. The variation of the significantly effective characteristics is carried out to achieve optimized hull form. The results from numerical calculations and model test as well as the design procedures to obtain an optimized hull form resent in this paper.

  • Ultra precision progressive die have used for above one million's lot size of production part. In the field of design and making tool for press working, the progressive die for sheet metal (STS 304, thickness : 0.5mm) is a specific division. In order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the production part, strip layout, die design, die making and tryout etc. are necessary. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal press working and its phenomena, die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die component, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a progressive die of multi-stage and performed try out. Out of these processes the die development could be taken for advance. Especially the result of tryout and its analysis become the characteristics of this paper (part 1 and part 2) that nothing might be ever seen before such as this type of research method on all the processes. In the part 2 of this study we treated die making and tryout mostly.

In the field of design and making tool for press working, the progressive die for sheet metal (SPC, thickness : 2mm) is a specific division. In order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the U-bending production part, strip layout, die design, die making and tryout etc. are necessary. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal pres working and its phenomena, die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die component, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a progressive die of multi-stage and performed try out. Out of these processes the die development could be taken for advance. Microstructures and Magnetic Properties of the Annealed FeSiB Thin Films Prepared by DC Magnetron Sputtering

  • Effect of vacuum annealing on the microstructures and magnetic properties of $Fe_{84}Si_6B_{10}$ films has been investigated as a function of annealing temperature. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy were employed to analyze crystallization behavior of the films. Permeability of the films was measured at various frequencies by one-turn coil method. When the films were annealed below 673 K, the coercivity of the films did not change a lot (${\~}$1500 A/m) although the grain size of a crystalline phase in the partially crystallized films increased gradually up to about 16 nm. It then increased rapidly as the films became almost fully crystalline mostly with $\alpha$-(Fe,Si) phase at and above 723 K. On the other hand, the electrical resistivity of the films decreased monotonically with the increase of annealing temperature. The permeabilities of the films annealed at 473${\~}$673 K were all over 1000, showing the optimum value of 3500 at 523 K, and almost constant up to 300 MHz. However, those of the as-deposited and fully crystallized films were lower than 1000 and unstable at the same frequency range.

  • 실제 하수 처리 시스템에서 유입조건, 공법, 다양한 운전조건과 복잡한 인자에 대하여 실험을 통하여 많은 처리공법을 비교하고 각 공정별 최적조건을 찾는 것은 쉽지 않은 일이며, 많은 비용과 시간을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 하수 처리 시스템의 주요 생물학적 하수처리 공정인 $A_2O$(혐기/무산소/호기), Bardenpho(4단계), VIP(Virginia Initiative Plant), UCT(University of Cape Town) 공정의 활성오니공정모델을 이용한 모델링을 수행하고, 이를 바탕으로 공법별 환경성과 경제성 평가의 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 하수처리 공정의 처리 효율을 비교하고 새로운 지표로 나타낼 수 있는 환경성 평가 기준과 동시에 비용 산출을 고려한 평가 지표를 제시하였다. 제시된 지표를 바탕으로 통해 각 공정 최적화와 유입조건에 따른 고도처리공정의 공법 선정에 유용하게 쓰일 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 유입유량과 호기조 부피의 변화에 따른 경제성과 환경성 지표의 변화를 파악하고, 나아가 다양한 운전 조건하에서의 최적 지표를 예측할 수 있었다.

상수도 송·배수시스템의 최적 설계 및 운영 모형 개발 (Optimal design and operation of water transmission system)

  • 국내 송 배수 시스템은 산지가 많은 지형적 특성을 이용하여 송수펌프를 통해 고지대에 위치한 배수지에 용수를 저장한 후, 급수구역으로 자연유하방식으로 배수하는 방식을 사용한다. 이 과정에서 송수펌프 운영에 많은 전기 에너지가 소모되며, 이는 전체 상수관망 시스템 운영에서 가장 큰 비중을 차지하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 송수펌프의 적정 용량과 운영방법은 하류단에 위치한 배수지의 크기에 영향을 받게 되므로 송, 배수 시스템의 경제적인 설계와 안정적인 운영을 위해서는 초기 시설물의 규모 결정 단계에서 송수펌프 및 배수지의 건설비용과 송수펌프의 장기간 운영비용을 함께 고려하는 것이 타당하다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 최적화 기법인 유전자 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithm, GA)을 활용하여 송수펌프와 배수지의 최적규모와 송수펌프의 운영스케줄링을 동시에 최적화 할 수 있는 모형을 개발하였다. 개발 모형은 국내에서 운영 중인 송 배수시스템에 적용하여 검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구는 송 배수시스템의 초기 설계에 있어 송수펌프와 배수지의 최적규모 산정에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

150W급 휴대용 연료전지 Power Pack 설계 및 제작 (Design and Implementation of 150W Portable Fuel Cell Power Pack)

  • Existing energy sources convert chemical energy into mechanical energy, while fuel cell directly generates electricity through an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Therefore, it has a lot of strong points such as high efficiency, zero emission, and etc. In addition, with the development of hydrogen preservation technique, some companies have been researching and releasing portable fuel cell power packs for specific applications like military equipment, automobile, and so on. However, there are some drawbacks to the fuel cell, high cost and slow dynamic response. In order to compensate these weak points, auxiliary energy storages could be applied to the fuel cell system. In this paper, the optimum structure for a 150W portable fuel cell power pack with a battery pack is selected considering the specification of the system, and the design process of main parts is described in detail. Here, main objectives are compact size, simple control, high efficiency, and low cost. Then, an automatic mode change algorithm, which converts the operating mode depending on the states of fuel cell stack, battery pack, and load, is introduced. Finally, performance of the designed prototype using the automatic mode change control is verified through experiments.
